Timothy Pittides Killer Klowns From Outer Space Movie Poster Release

No comments:

This week Mad Duck Posters are releasing new licensed movie posters for the 1988 cult classic Killer Klowns From Outer Space! The posters are 24x36 screen prints with incredible new art by Timothy Pittides!

The artist has a true passion for the horror/comedy 80s classic and had the following to say about the movie and project:
"When I was approached to do this, a TON of ideas and concepts flew out of me, but none really hit the mark. The original one sheet of this film is iconic and a play off that was where my mind went. I also knew this poster would have to pop and have COLOR! Since all my work is hand done, on paper, this task came down to creating each individual image ( the earth, the arm, planets, logo, etc) separately and breaking each color layer down manually as I went. The poster had a final total of 55 single layer scans and 13 colors overall making it the most colors I have ever worked with. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on it!"
There will be 3 flavors.
Regular Edition, 24x36 screen print, 13 Colors, Numbered, printed with Metallic Silver, Run of 125, $65
Gold Star Variant, 24x36 screen print, 13 Colors, Numbered, printed with Metallic Gold, Run of 35, $90.
Cosmic Candy Variant, 24x36 screen print, 13 Colors, Numbered, printed on Rainbow Foil, Run of 60, $100
The posters are will be released this Wednesday, July 18th at 12PM ET HERE!

Timothy Pittides SXSW Comedy Poster 2018 Exclusive

No comments:

SXSW Comedy is excited to release this year’s official festival poster by artist Timothy Pittides, (www.pittidesart.com) known for his popular Vices series. On his inspiration for this meticulously hand-stippled design, Pittides had this to say:

“When a client has a vision, my job is to make that vision a reality. When I was asked to create the poster for this year's SXSW Comedy Festival, they had a specific idea in mind that I couldn't have been more excited about. They wanted a poster with the vibe and tone of vintage magic posters from the early 1920s and 30s; subject matter that is right in my wheelhouse.”

“I wanted to do something unique with the material rather than just produce a carbon copy or create something many other artists have done in the past. I wanted something dark, mysterious and at the same time, light and whimsical. It was a difficult task, but satisfying and fun. I believe I was able to hit the mark and hopefully you all will enjoy it as much as I did creating it!”

100 hand-numbered prints of the 18”x24” poster will be available at the Austin Convention Center starting March 9th. Each of the following performers from the 2018 SXSW Comedy lineup are featured on the poster and will receive an exclusive variant print with metallic inks.

Timothy Pittides Eddie Vedder Amsterdam Poster Release

No comments:

Here is Timothy Pittides first ever poster for Eddie Vedder and the final date in Amsterdam. The poster is a 7 color screenprint measuring 18 x 24 inches on French Speckletone kraft. Show edition features purple tulips while the AE (Artist Edition) has Orange tulips! His AE copies will be a signed and numbered edition of 100 (all 100 will not be available though).

Story from Timothy on the design:
Was a fun one to do and a little backstory involving the guitar... I wanted to portray her as finding the guitar in the field and toying with it. knocking the dirt and tulip leaves away from this lost guitar...She isn't playing it... much like myself. You see, back in the late 90's I was a vocalist in a band, I have 0 musical ability. One day I just picked up my bandmate's bass and started playing Primus's my name is mud... holding the guitar the wrong way. I am right handed but for some reason I felt really comfortable playing it the other way... of course I got shit, and my friend tried to show me how to do the correct way, but it wouldn't work, so then on, any instrument that was lying around I would pickup and just strum the wrong way.
On sale FRIDAY, June 2nd at NOON EDT at www.bottleneckgallery.com.

Timothy Pittides Aliens Movie Poster Release By Grey Matter Art

No comments:

Grey Matter Art is excited to announce it’s next release! In partnership with Acme Archives and Dark Ink, under license from 20th Century Fox, GMA will be revealing a new screen print for the film, “Aliens” by the very talented artist, Timothy Pittides. They have always been huge fans of the Alien franchise, director, James Cameron and H.R. Giger, and they couldn’t be more thrilled with how this print came out. Also, they wanted to include a picture of Tim's original charcoal work, so everyone can see his process from rough to the final image.

“Aliens”
Size: 24x36
Edition: 150/$45.00
Printed By: VG Kids

Tim's artist's statement regarding "Aliens."
" ALIENS. One of the first three movies I remember seeing in the theaters (alongside Dick Tracy and Nightmare on Elm Street 3). It is a fond memory of mine as my father took to see it when I was 9. Ever since, it has been a staple, on VHS, DVD and now Blu-Ray. I watch it at least twice a month and it definitely a desert island film.

The film isn't about the marines to me. It isn't even about Ripley or Newt, their relationship or about facing your fears. It is about the suspense, the surprise, and scope of the xenomorph infestation. The scene that stuck with me all these years and still is a joy to watch is when the marines first encounter the Xenos. They were ill-prepared, overwhelmed and undermanned. And has a viewer you felt the same fear they did.

I wanted to somehow express this in art form and at the same time, pay tribute to the man who's imagination sprung forth this nightmarish world... H.R. GIGER. While he may have not worked on this film specifically, his world was represented perfectly here and I hope he would have seen that. So this idea of seeing the hive for the first time, not knowing what was alive and what wasn't, really spoke to me. I knew the only way to convey my ideas on paper would be in charcoals and knowing what could be done with screenprinting these days, I began to pour the idea down. When finished, it became clear that this was right. This was ALIENS.

I want to thank Grey Matter Art for releasing this as well as Matt Ferguson for getting this ready for screen printing. Everything came together so wonderfully and I cannot express my happiness in this. Being able to create an official piece for a film that you hold so dear to your heart is a great feeling."Tim-

Timothy Pittides Phantom Of The Opera Poster Release

No comments:
Timothy Pittides Phantom Of The Opera Poster Print

Mad Duck Posters is back this week with a brand new poster for the timeless film "The Phantom Of The Opera" by talented artist Timothy Pittides!

"The Phantom Of The Opera" is a classic story that is known to all, and there is no better representation of the story than the 1925 version of the movie starring Lon Chaney!

The artist had the following to say about the movie and art:
"I have been waiting to do a poster for The Phantom of the Opera for over a year. It is my favorite film from the silent film era and my sketchbook has been busy with concepts relating to the film. I wanted to do something different than the other posters for the film that artists have been releasing. The first order of business was NOT to include the Phantom as the Red Death. That ship has sailed. Second, I wanted a design to fit alongside my poster for my second favorite silent film, Nosferatu. Third, I didnt want to focus on Erik himself. I believe the story didnt focus on him as much as it did Christine. Christine was the key to everything, his love, his rage, and his eventually downfall. And on her side, she had to endure so much and did what she had to do for love. I took the mirror as central theme and wanted to portray a feeling of dread, beauty and sadness. I hope this comes across. "
The poster will be available in both a standard and variant edition.
Standard Edition: 3 color screenprint, printed on Packing Chip Kraft-Tone. Printed by VGKIDS. Numbered edition of 125: $40.00
Metallic Variant Edition: 3 color screenprint featuring Metallic Nickel ink. Printed on Reich Shimmer Metallic Silver paper. Numbered edition of 45: $50.00

Both posters will drop at 12pm Eastern time this Wednesday, January 25th at MadDuckPosters.com

Timothy Pittides Haxan: Witchcraft Through The Ages Poster Release From Grey Matter Art

No comments:

Grey Matter Art is proud to present a new officially limited edition screen print for the classic 1922 silent horror film, "Haxan: Witchcraft Through The Ages" by artist Timothy Pittides. There are 2 separate editions for this poster, a Regular & Variant Edition. Below are details regarding the poster and release date.

Artist: Timothy Pittides
Size: 20x30 6 Color Screenprint
Regular Edition: 75/$40.00
Printed on 100lb French Parcel Wrap Kraft-Tone Paper

Variant Edition: 35/$50.00
2 Metallic Inks, Printed on 100lb French Chipboard Kraft-Tone Paper
Printed by: VG Kids

Here is what artist Timothy Pittides had to say about Haxan:
"Haxan is surreal, visually stunning and sticks with you like a demon sticks to pretty young woman's soul. This horror classic deserved some love and I was happy to give it some. I had three points I wanted to hit in the design. Vintage, sensual, and dark. I wanted to convey the sabbath scene as it basically sums up the entire film's purpose as well as the points I was trying to get across. The morbidly romantic side really stood out to me. I went to classic art of the middle ages, as well as the fanastic work of spanish painter, Luis Ricardo Falero for inspiration.

The demon designs are inspired from the middle age paintings of demons throughout europe. The one thing I love about those depictions is they used animals and nature and fuse them with angelic concepts to create frightening and unique visions. It really was the highlight for me to concept them. Mixing and match various animals to create something only Satan himself would ever conceive.

I honestly enjoyed working on this poster. I hope it comes through on the paper."
This poster will be released Friday, February 26th on our website shop page at 1:00PM EST at www.greymatterart.com

Timothy Pittides The Road To Ruin Poster Release From Grey Matter Art

No comments:

Grey Matter Art is proud to present the final poster in the Vices series "The Road To Ruin" by Timothy Pittides ! These will be going on sale this Friday the 13th at 1PM (est) in the Grey Matter Art shop page.

Here is what Tim had to say about his final piece:
Well we have reached the end of the series and what better way to do so by representing the true gateway drug, Alcohol and it’s propaganda film “The Road to Ruin”. Released in 1934, the film tells a tale of a young woman who gets in with the wrong crowd, and begins the journey down the spiral of booze, drugs and sex and ends up an alcoholic, pregnant, and is forced to get an abortion.

Taboos abound, the film of course was boycotted by the catholic church which forced massive edits. For the time, it was quite salacious but of course, overly dramatic and too campy to be taken seriously. Worse than a after school special. But it has it’s points.

With this poster I wanted to finish up the whole “See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil” undertone I began with both Reefer Madness and Cocaine fiends. Here, we have the demon emerging from her glass of devil’s brew, throwing red rose petals into the poor girl’s face. The action is aggressive, contrasting the lighter giving of the single flower on Reefer Madness. A nice representation of the effect Alcohol plays on us. It lures us in under false comfort, pretending it loves us ( red roses), comforts us in times of peril and weakness. While some become happy, some become violent, and some become completely different people, almost possessed. It leaves us miserable, in pain and sick. Yet we go right back to it. Until a different rose is offered. But the same demon remains.
But is the demon really in the liquid or already inside of us.
”The Road to Ruin"
Artist: Timothy Pittides
Print Size: 18″ x 24″
Edition Size: 75
Price: $35.00
Notes: 3 color screen print featuring metallic glitter overlay, printed on 100lb French Packing Chip Kraft-Tone Paper

Timothy Pittides Cocaine Fiends Poster Release From Grey Matter Art

No comments:

Grey Matter Art is proud to announce a new exclusive poster release for the propaganda film "Cocaine Fiends" by Timothy Pittides. This is part of "VICES"; a three poster series based on the propaganda films from the 1930's and 1940's. The first poster in the series,"Reefer Madness" was released on August 1st and this stunning first entry that begins the journey into our society's need to control and be controlled. Grey Matter Art are so incredibly pleased to release this as exclusive poster at New York Comic Con at their booth #2366, running from October 8th-11th. Any remaining copies will go on sale Monday, October 12th at 1PM EST in their shop page.

"Cocaine Fiends"
Artist: Timothy Pittides
Size: 18x24
Regular Edition: 75/$35.00
Paper: French Packing Chip Kraft-Tone
Printed By: VG Kids

For all information on New York Comic Con please go to their official website at http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/

Here is what Timothy had to say about the project:

" With the second poster in the VICES series, I wanted a central piece to fit in between Reefer Madness and the third and final poster and Cocaine Fiends seemed like a obvious choice. The film, while a bit more truthful in it's portrayal of the drug, is still over the top and comical. It tried to capitalize on paranoia that Reefer Madness created in the public but never reached the level it's predecessor reached. With the poster I wanted to use the women's eyes as a drawing in point, big and wide while still maintaining her beauty and innocence ( using the white rose). The Dope Demon (That's what I am calling him now) emerging from the vial, engulfing her, keeping her both comfortable while at the same time controlling her. He leaves a trail of orange roses which symbolize energy and passion, something this vice surely invokes. I also wanted a synergy to the series and while in Reefer Madness, the demon is offering her a rose which is she is staring at (Seeing Evil), Cocaine Fiends offers the Demon whispering to her, tempting her (Hearing Evil). This series has been a blast to do and wanna thank Grey Matter for the support and get ready for the third and final poster coming in November!"

Here is what Chris had to say about "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde"
"To me, "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" is a film that perfectly plays on the notion that any fairly normal person at any point has the potential to become a monster under the right circumstances. The eyes are a dead giveaway when first spotting that transition, so I really wanted to focus on depicting the actual transformation inside the eye itself, which was weird, different, and a whole lot of fun. It's always a challenge to put a unique look on a classic, so I hope you all enjoy it."
Here is what Tim had to say about "Reefer Madness"
"Reefer Madness" needs no introduction. The American propaganda film that follows the exploits of teens in the 30's being peer pressured into trying "The Devils Weed" aka Marijuana and what follows is lunacy, depravity and insanity all caused by marijuana addiction. Ridiculous and often hilarious, this film needed some more poster love. I decided to veer away from the propaganda type feel as well as the cartoon like approach. The film itself was INTENDED to be serious and to scare viewers into believing these awful events were caused by pot. So I decided to go that route, giving it a film noir feel with an art nouveau flare. A young woman, pressured into trying some marijuana and being tempted by the devil with a yellow rose. The inclusion of the flowers within the piece adds a bit of depth and symbolism as well. The yellow rose symbolizes friendship and joy, while the white flower in her hair, represents her innocence and purity. By "taking" the devil's flower she is accepting him into her making her his to control. I truly hope you all enjoy this print and thank you to Jared and Mike at Grey Matter for embracing the idea and running with it."
