Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff Presents the Opening of All Star Press Gallery

No comments:

Sports fans who love art and art fans who love sports can rejoice as ALL STAR PRESS, 2775 N. Milwaukee Ave, is opening in Logan Square on Friday, June 2. For over 11 years, Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff has been a recognized artist and entrepreneur in the screen-print industry as the owner and creator of FugScreens Studios and former co-owner of Galerie F. Tasseff-Elenkoff is now opening his first retail and gallery space focusing on sports posters, framing and merchandise making ALL STAR PRESS Chicago’s first ever gig poster and street art gallery.

Tasseff-Elenkoff wanted to combine his experience running various businesses with his love for illustration and print media to create a new store and gallery devoted to honoring the creativity of sports through posters, shirts, pins and more. The 900-square foot space will showcase hundreds of hand screen prints that delve deep into the rich history of sports. Illustrated by Tasseff-Elenkoff the art will feature jerseys from MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL and international soccer players.

Tasseff-Elenkoff has his hand in every step of the process from illustrating and designing the posters to printing them on-site at the gallery. Each unique print will be a limited edition, numbered and signed on archival recycled paper, and will be available for custom in-house framing. The prints will line the gallery walls along with a large range of local and international artists showcasing amazing original prints and multimedia work.

On Monday, June 5, the ALL STAR PRESS website will launch with even more limited edition sports prints available for purchase and shipment all over the world.

“ALL STAR PRESS is an ode to my sports idols, new and legendary. It’s an extraordinary feeling to be able fuse my passion for art and sports in a way that others may also share my enthusiasm. I’m really looking forward to growing this new body of work over the upcoming years and becoming a fan all over again” comments Tasseff-Elenkoff.

The England native graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and started his screen-printing business, FugScreens Studios, over 11 years ago making gig posters for local bands, major artists and businesses all over the world. Most recently, Tasseff-Elenkoff teamed up with the Nike/Jordan brand to illustrate and screen-print posters of all 29 original Air Jordan shoes. Working with the mecca in sports apparel and traveling to America to attend Phillies games as a kid since he was 4 years old, Tasseff-Elenkoff had all the inspiration he needed to start up ALL STAR PRESS.

ALL STAR PRESS will open its doors to the public on Friday, June 2 and the website will launch on June 5. The grand opening party will be June 2 from 6-10 p.m. Store hours include Wednesday-Thursday 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday-Sunday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. For more information, call 773-766-4060 or visit the ALL STAR PRESS website www.allstarpresschicago.com, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @allstarpresschicago.

Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff And David Welker Charity Print Release

No comments:

Earlier this year illustrator Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff of Fugscreens Studios made a startling discovery and had it confirmed by his doctor. He had found a lump and it was testicular cancer. At the beginning of August it was concluded that he would need an operation to remove the area with said mass. Obviously the past few months have been very difficult and trying for him and the ones around him who were aware of the situation. On Tuesday the 6th of September he had the operation and recovered well from it all but at a huge cost.

Currently with the operation, ultrasounds, doctors visits and medication Zissou had to pay over 23k out of pocket to hopefully be healthy again. If he would have had insurance this number could have been cut down by almost 80% if not more.

So his good buddy and one of the most talented artists out there right now, David Welker, has been kind enough to collaborate on a print with him in order to raise a little money for Zissou's growing medical bills.

The idea was for Welker and Zissou to co-design a print release with the proceeds being split between himself and the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation: http://www.testicularcancerawarenessfoundation.org/ . Zissou is in no way shape of form looking for a hand out, but instead a way for him to be able to give back to research that will hopefully help future cases such as himself and still be able to produce awesome art with one of his favorite people and artists around.

 From Zissou and David:
Wednesday afternoon I will be releasing both of my fundraiser prints, one of them being another extremely exciting collaboration with David Welker. I have worked with David over the past three years on some amazing projects, including one of the best shows I’ve ever curated “Lucid Dreamscape”, with him and Brin Levinson. BUT Tomorrow’s drop has a special personal connection for both welker and I, a few weeks ago we decided to come together and produce two prints that would help pay for an unexpected surgery that I underwent three weeks ago. More importantly, we set a goal to try and raise 10k for the http://www.testicularcancerawarenessfoundation.org/ .

Wednesday at 2pm CDT we will be releasing two prints called “Band practice ” and “Playtime”, both will be available only for 24 hours and the proceeds from all the sales will be donated to a wonderful cause that will now and forever be close to my heart. Due to the type of cancer that we are trying to raise money for it often goes unnoticed and unspoken, which is a crying shame as it’s one of the most common cancers found, but for obvious reasons it’s also one of the most taboo. I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to come together to bring a little awareness and raise funds for something that more people should be talking about.
‘Band Practice’ by David Welker
Printed by Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff
20″ x 16″ 6 Color Screen Print
Limited Edition of 300
$100
‘Playtime’ by Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff
Printed by Zissou Tasseff-Elenkoff
16″ x 20″ 8 Color Screen Print
Timed Edition | Available for 24 Hours
$45
If you have any interest in joining them in the good fight, please go to this link https://band-practice.myshopify.com/ at 2pm CDT on Wednesday, September 28th.

FugScreens Studios Joker Vote For Me One Year of Batman Poster

No comments:

French Paper Art Club and Geek-Art are proud to release a brand new limited and official print for our One Year of Batman collection, in collaboration with Warner and DC Comics. This piece was created by the illustrations and screen prints studio FugScreens, well known for having established the Galerie F in Chicago, a printmaking and street art gallery.

For our One Year of Batman project, FugScreens had the privilege to work on the mythic Dark Detective One Cover, originally drawn by Marshall Rogers. In the first issue of this 6 episodes story, the Joker is part of a gubernatorial election, with this insane slogan : "Vote for Me… Or I'll Kill you!". Written by Steve Englehart and drawn by Marshall Rogers (who sadly passed away in 2007) and Terry Austin, this story has become cult in the mind of many Batman fans.

FugScreens decided to completely deconstruct the cover and worked back on every colors with his unique style. The final art is gorgeous, a real tribute to the twisted and colored mind of the Dark Knight's nemesis. The devil is in the details, as it is said, and you can notice that the whole print is covered with hand drawn quotes from the comics. This one of a kind print in 13 colors including 2 metallic inks measuring 18 x 24 inches with an edition of 110 and will be available this Thursday in limited edition on French Paper Art Club.

One Year of Batman – Batman (Head) by M. Garcin
To celebrate the first solo art show of original works by Mr Garcin tonight at the Galerie Arludik, French Paper Art Club et Geek-Art are releasing a brand new official and limited print. Batman (Head) is the second print by collage master M. Garcin for our One Year of Batman official operation, in collaboration with Warner and DC Comics. This exclusive artwork, printed on archive paper, is limited to an edition of 150 and available on French Paper Art Club.

Flatstock Chicago 2014 Poster Show Pictures

1 comment:

Aaron Horkey greeting a fan

For first time in many years the weather in Chicago for the annual Flatstock show organized by the American Poster Institute during Pitchfork Music Festival was perfect. No rain, temperature in low 80's and the toilets did not overflow made for a weekend of fun in Union Park. Lots of people were there everyday and you can still make it today as there are a few hours left to check out all the artists.

Rob Jones unfortunately had to get home after his show opening at Galerie F on Thursday and did not stay. But Aaron Horkey was walking around checking out the music and art. I say all the time if you have the chance to attend a Flatstock near you. Fun talking to the artist in person instead of through email as usual. Got to meet Charles Crisler of 27 Design CO for the first time as well.
