Iconic by Collectionzz have released three prints for The Black Crowes so far, and they are excited to announce the fourth! If you have attended (or will be attending) the band's Shake Your Money Maker Tour, you may have noticed the beautiful tour poster hanging up in the merchandise booths. Or you may have not noticed it because they've been selling out! Collectionzz can finally officially announce their collaboration with the The Black Crowes in creating those prints, which are illustrated by Dan Black and printed by LandLand!  

 

They're offering an exclusive variant of the tour poster that's printed on a Brushed Gold Foil that gives the colors an even deeper richness, and the script lettering and other finer details throughout the illustration are golden! You won't be able to grab this exclusive variant on tour, now is your chance to celebrate the return of rock and roll!

"Its an honor to create the poster for The Black Crowes' Shake Your Money Maker tour! This art was inspired by many of the songs off of Shake Your Money Maker, but in particular "Struttin' Blues" and the lyrics "out there, breeze is finally blowing, no tellin' when the train pulls in." I think this song is relevant right now for a number of reasons. Not only are the Crowes back, but it's a reunion of fans and live music after a very difficult year. The train's boxcars are textured from the weather but, but they're still solid and the lights are still on. The cities are hand-painted onto boxcars, like badges of honor that tell the story of the Shake Your Money Maker tour and where the caboose has been.

If you look closely, you'll also notice candles, 30 to be exact. Not only are they a reference to "Hard to Handle," but they commemorate the 30th anniversary of the iconic album that the band is playing in full. Hope you enjoyed the show!" -Dan Black

The Band Royal Albert Hall 50th Anniversary Poster by Landland

 

The Band, the Canadian-American rock group formed in 1967 remains one of the most influential rock bands in the world to this day. Earlier this year they celebrated the 50th anniversary of their third album, Stage Fright, with a massive box set including a previously-unreleased show from London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 2nd, 1971.

Jay Ryan Landland June of 44 San Francisco Poster

Jay Ryan always tells the best stories:

LISTEN TO MY STORY, CHILDREN. When I was a much younger man, I left home and traveled the western world aboard a ragged vessel which took me and my mates from one end of this country to the other several times over, as well as far-flung places like Chile, Iceland, Croatia, and Baltimore. Several of those voyages were in the company of a fine batch of actual human pirates who called themselves June of 44, and we had glorious times, with many tales to tell, and many songs sung in the dead of night. While I don't take to those voyages much these days (due to my bum leg and all), I am delighted to see that those swarthy asses known as June of 44 have taken again to the high seas and played three shows along the west coast this last weekend. Reports have come in that there was much scorching and blazing by both sharks AND sailors.

I was fortunate to get to collaborate with my friends Jes and Dan from LANDLAND on this poster. In October, Dan came back to Chicago from Minneapolis and we shoved an ink drawing back and forth across the kitchen table for a couple days. Jes worked remotely, performing her magic watercolor-paint-based tricks to add some grit and rust to thie piece, before Dan masterfully printed all six screens at his home base in Minneapolis.

Landland Jack White Regina Saskatchewan Poster

Dan Black of Landland has designed a sweet looking poster for Jack White's tour.

As you might've guessed, we have released more posters. I'm really excited to've been asked to make a poster for the current Jack White tour...Rob Jones himself called me up and handed me the Blue Pantone keys to the Jack White style guide and I asked him some questions about gas stations and then I got to work. I'm a person who really likes designing to some strict rules, so working with this weird (to me) color palette was kinda thrilling, and it really paid off when I popped over to the Official Jack White Live Instagram and saw it slotted into that ocean of blue and black. Feels cool to be a part of it.

Watership Down Posters by Landland and Teagan White

Landland Posters Release & Sale

The Landland team of Dan & Jessica just dropped a bunch of new posters and they are having a sale too. Lots of new (well, some newer than others) posters for people like Andrew Bird and the Modern Radio Record Label 16th Anniversary thing that just happened, some "medium-new" posters for bands like The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die and Mac McCaughan (of Superchunk), and some posters from early last year that they never got up for some reason, like the Joan of Arc Hideout Residency Weird Test Print posters and the last copies of our Punch Brothers Winter Tour poster. Landland Phish Riviera Maya Mexico Poster Release

Landland did the poster for the recent Phish show in Mexico. Dan Black has a story to tell about the poster Jessica Seamans designed :

Our friends over at Phish HQ put us in control of "making web stuff look a little less webby and more like a place you could spend a minute" with their site for last weekend's Riviera Maya shows down in Mexico. If you were there, I hope it was rad! Also, if you were there, I guess you know that we also made a poster for it. Apparently these things sold out pretty instantly down there, with a relatively tiny run of 500 posters for all three nights. We've been getting a ton of emails about this, from the dozens and dozens of people who were all a couple people away from the person who got the last copy, and to answer all of those emails in one fell swoop, I offer this: We do have copies of it. Not many at all, but some.

Jay Ryan x Landland Pitchfork Music Festival Poster Release

This past weekend was the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. And as usual it was hot, it was rainy and crazy.

Jay Ryan was fortunate enough to get to make posters for this year's festival in collaboration with the good folks of LANDLAND.net - (Dan Black and Jessica Seamans). This process, which is different from how Jay usually works, was amazing - Dan was in Austin for much of the time they were co-working on the line drawing of the Green Line "L" station at Lake and Ashland in Chicago. Jes determined the colors to be used for the prints via a watercolor painting scanned in Milwaukee. Diana Sudyka helped by contributing a watercolor painting of a sky which was placed behind all the other elements. Jay drew much of the underside for the building (most of the red parts), while Dan drew most of the siding and windows (the blue parts). Jay Ryan wrote the text of all the bands which have played Pitchfork over the last ten years (meaning all those bands were written by hand), and Dan drew the text pertaining to this specific event. These were screenprinted using a four-color process (CMYK), as opposed to spot-color screenprinting which Jay usually uses. They turned our particularly well.

Jay had a complete blast working on this and hope that you like it even half as much as he does. The edition was 880 pieces, signed by Dan and Jay, with numbering assistance by Jason "Small Stakes" Munn, who was visiting from California.

Most of the prints sold at the festival, but they are posting their copies to BOTH thebirdmachine.com AND landland.net at 1pm CDT on Monday, July 20.
