Jason Abraham Smith Wolfmother Mexico City Free Friday Poster Giveaway

When I was at Flatstock this year and asked Jason Abraham Smith if he wanted to do a giveaway on the blog I had already scoped out this poster. When he said pick one I was already pointing to this killer Wolfmother poster. He did it for the show in Mexico City back in May.

Flatstock Chicago 2014 Poster Show Pictures

For first time in many years the weather in Chicago for the annual Flatstock show organized by the American Poster Institute during Pitchfork Music Festival was perfect. No rain, temperature in low 80's and the toilets did not overflow made for a weekend of fun in Union Park. Lots of people were there everyday and you can still make it today as there are a few hours left to check out all the artists.

Rob Jones unfortunately had to get home after his show opening at Galerie F on Thursday and did not stay. But Aaron Horkey was walking around checking out the music and art. I say all the time if you have the chance to attend a Flatstock near you. Fun talking to the artist in person instead of through email as usual. Got to meet Charles Crisler of 27 Design CO for the first time as well.

Jason Abraham Smith Kadavar Detroit Poster On Sale

Jason Abraham Smith dropped his wicked Kadavar poster for the recent show in Detroit. The poster is 18x24 2-color on Plum Punch Vivtone French Paper. It is a signed and numbered edition of 50.

I have no idea who Kadavar is so I asked Jason about the design:

I saw Kadavar live a while back and (this might sound dumb) I was mesmerized by the way their hair moved while playing. It almost put me into some sort of a trance. The drummer seemed to move his head in the exact same way the whole set, while the guitar/ vocalist moved very organically and somewhat spastic at times. It was a great show, and I thought to myself, "If I ever do a poster for Kadavar it needs to have psychedelic hair."

War of the Worlds Posters by Rob Schwager & Jason Abraham Smith Release Details

At Galerie F they love all things literary. For the Halloween season they thought best to honor the most terrifying moment in literature - Panic Broadcast. The famous reading of H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" on public radio by actor Orson Welles sent waves of panic through the public, who thought the broadcast to be live news updates of an impending space invasion. On October 30th, 1938 Orson Welles secured himself as a dramatist and linguistic force to be reckoned with.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Panic Broadcast, Rob Schawager of  Tiny Bird Press and Jason Abraham Smith from Lurk And Destroy created two Welles inspired exclusive prints.
