Adam Pobiak Eric Clapton Posters Release

No comments:

Adam Pobiak has a couple more stunning Eric Clapton posters releasing this week.

Adam discuss the prints:
"Of course things can always change, but Eric Clapton does not plan to play any more concerts after the September 18th show at the Forum in Los Angeles. Since it is likely these posters are for his last ever performances, I set out to create art work as grand and as celebratory as such an illustrious career deserves. Photos were chosen to best encapsulate his entire career across the set. The younger photo is from one of his earliest solo performances in 1973, and the recent photo was taken at Madison Square Garden this March."
Here are the details:
New York City (blue)
AP edition of 100
5 colors: white, blue, dark grey, transparent black, black
Printed on gold foil stock

Los Angeles (red)
AP edition of 150
5 colors: white, red, dark grey, transparent black, black
Printed on gold foil stock

All posters are 21 x 36 inches
All posters are signed and numbered

On sale Tuesday 6pm London (1pm EDT, 10am Pacific) at  http://pobiak.com/

There was a good 5 years of my life when Royal Trux were hands down by far my favourite band.  Over a stretch of the late 90’s and early 2000’s I had tickets to see them 5 times, once I couldn’t manage to get there, the others times they either canceled in advance or just didn’t show up. This will make a bit more sense if you know they are almost as well known for their overzealous drug habits as they are for their their music. (it may also make some sense of the artwork on the poster). In fact the last time I didn’t see them (in my home town of Pittsburgh) their not showing up lead to the final break up of the band, until they reformed in 2015. To carry on with my tradition of not seeing them wasn’t able to go to this London show as I was in Barcelona for Flatstock, BUT I did FINALLY manage to see them at the Primavera sound festival, and it was every bit as train-wreck-ish as i could have hoped for. Long live Royal Trux.-Adam

Eric Clapton Posters By Adam Pobiak

No comments:

Adam Pobiak says being asked to create posters for Eric Clapton was an unbelievable honor. There was a stretch in his life where the Yardbirds were his favorite band, this then turned into a longer stretch when Cream took the top spot, In the last many years it's Blind Faith that usually finds its way into his ears. If you are familiar with posters you will know that a very high percentage of the best/most famous posters from the 60's and 70's are for these 3 bands.

More from Adam on the posters:
"SO it absolutely blew my mind when I was not only able to draw the name Eric Clapton, but could also add Delaney & Bonnie, the Blues Breakers, Derek and the Dominos,  the Yardbirds, Cream, and Blind Faith to the art. BUT This also presented a problem. This was not art for a reunion tour, this is a tour celebrating 50 years of uninterrupted creation of music. If the Grateful Dead ask you make something for their reunion you make something that looks a poster from their hayday. If Black Sabbath asks you for art for their reunion you make something that looks like Sabbath would have done in the 70's. But Clapton has never stopped playing. His solo career has had many facets, and all of his bands have been quite different from one another, so the challenge was to find a constant. What can represent 50 years of drastically different music in one poster? His guitars. His guitars have been the constant across his 50 year and counting career.  So with the guitars as the focus, as much care as possible was taken to represent them as realistically as possible, with every scratch, every dent and every crook of the wood grain. The guitars are also presented at Life size (1 to 1 scale) to make it as clear as possible that this is not just "a guitar" this is Eric Clapton's Martin 00-21, this is not "a guitar" this is Eric Clapton's Gibson ES 335, this is not "a guitar" this is Eric Clapton's Fender Stratocaster called "Blackie."
Here are the details:
New York City
AP edition of 75
6 colors: white, blue, red, transparent black, black, gloss black

Los Angeles
AP edition of 75
5 colors: white, green, brown, transparent black, black

London
AP edition of 50
5 colors: white, sky blue, red, transparent black, black

All posters are 24 x 36 inches
All posters are printed on 270gsm Curious Super Gold Stock
All posters are signed and numbered

These will be available to buy Friday May 26 at 6pm London time (1pm Eastern, 10am Pacific) in Adam's store at http://pobiak.com/

Adam Pobial JRAD San Diego Poster rainbow foil

Adam Pobiak is releasing a new poster Thursday for Joe Russo’s Almost Dead for their West coast dates. San Diego November 11 and Oakland November 12th

Adam talks about the poster:
Joe Russo's Almost Dead is a Grateful Dead cover band comprised of members of Further, Ween etc. It was so much fun to be able to play with Grateful Dead iconography, but have a bit more leeway to update it and bring it to a new age. It's pretty safe to say that this is my craziest design to date.

The posters are 4 colors: White, light blue, Red and Blue printed on foil

Adam did 5 versions:

Silver foil (main) AP edition of 50
Gold Foil edition of 15
Lava Foil edition of 5
Rainbow Foil edition of 5

All are signed and Numbered and they are all 18 x 31 inches

Black Sabbath Adam Pobiak Montreal Poster World Premiere Exclusive

5 comments:

Adam & Ozzy

The biggest surprise so far this year with posters has been the excellent series of work created for Black Sabbath's The End Tour. The posters started showing up on line and everyone was blown away with how good the art work has been.

Doing a Black Sabbath poster is on the bucket list for many artists. Adam Pobiak had the original heavy metal group very high on his wish list. His excitement for finally being able to do a poster for Sabbath came through very strong as we talked about it the other day.

So it is my pleasure to reveal exclusively Adam Pobiak's Black Sabbath poster for the show in Montreal tonight.

Adam on his dream job:
I doubt many people have followed my poster career VERY closely, but if you have, you might have noticed that in EVERY interview I have ever given, when asked which band I would most like to make a poster for, my answer has ALWAYS been “BLACK SABBATH”. Over the years I’ve had the privilege to make posters for basically all of my favorite bands that still play together, but Black Sabbath has always been my dream - and I fully expected that this would always stay a dream, since the full line-up had only played a small handful of reunion shows in the last 20 or 30 years. As you can imagine, I was shocked, humbled and honored when they announced their final tour “THE END” and I was asked to create artwork for my favorite band of all time – a band that has such a profound and undeniable influence on music in general.

This print is for their date in Montreal on February 23rd, 2016. 466 of these posters were printed but I have very few to sell and no variants were created. This might be the first time I’ve thought that these things I’ve made may have more value to me personally than the folks who might want to buy them. So, I’m going to start selling them at the same price they sold for at the show, but if they are selling quickly, I may raise the price so I still have a couple for myself at the end of the day! Therefore, if you are interested, it would be best to get in early to avoid possibly paying more.
I still kind of can’t believe this happened.-AP
These are large posters are 17.4 x 31in (79.8 x 44cm)
4 colors: Metallic Silver, Dark Metallic Silver, Master of Reality Purple, and Black (black light responsive)

Edition of 466

Artist edition will be signed and numbered (the posters the band are selling in Montreal are not signed but I have signed the prints I’m selling)

Adam also had a couple prints shipped directly to Austin for SXSW along with some handbills, so he will have VERY few for Flatstock even if he sells out online beforehand. Handbills (mini-prints) will be available to buy through his site once he returns towards the end of March.

The posters will be available in Montreal at the show, and Adam will sell his the day after the show on Wednesday, Feb 24th Noon Eastern (9am Pacific and 5pm UK) at shop.pobiak.com
