Mondo Creative Director Mitch Putnam said "Nickelodeon was a huge part of my childhood. It represented everything cool and rebellious, and parents didn't know anything about it. We worked with a number of great artists to pay homage to some of the channel's most influential programming. We hope you have as much fun seeing it as we had making it."

"Thrilled to be part of the Nickelodeon show with Mondo. I grew up watching Nickelodeon when my family first got cable in the early ‘80s, with shows like Pinwheeland You Can't Do That on Television. Always wanted to get slimed for saying 'I don't know?' or food poisoning from Barth's Burgery," said artist Dave Perillo.

In addition to our usual Friday-night opening, they're so excited to host a special Family Day on Saturday, December 10, from 10am – NOON, featuring a Slime Building Workshop with Mad Science of Austin, face painting, photo booth, coffee and donuts, and more!

As tradition with Mondo's end-of-the-year gallery shows, they'll be hosting their fourth toy drive benefiting Toys for Tots! "When I was asked to come up with an idea for Texas Chainsaw, I knew right away I wasn't going to draw Leatherface with a chainsaw because frankly, it has been done a million times. When I re-watched the movie I kept going back to the scene of Kirk entering the house - the moment you see the red room at the end of the hall with the trophies on the wall is just so creepy and scary. I love the amount of detail they put into the house with the animal hides and Ed Gein bone sculptures, it really sells the movie for me and I tried to capture the gruesome details in my drawing.I decided to show Leatherface after he dragged Kirk out of sight about to slam the door shut because this scene is the downright scariest scene of the movie. Hope you like it". Florian-

Florian Bertmer Witch King & Fell Beast Lord of the Rings Poster Release from Mondo

No comments:

Mondo continues with their Lord of the Rings series of posters on Tuesday with the release of Witch King and Fell Beast by Florian Bertmer. The Witch-King of Angmar was the chief of the Nazgûl, King of Angmar, and Sauron’s great captain in his wars. A wraith, the Witch-king of Angmar was nearly indestructible, a terrible warrior, and a cunning strategist. The terms Fellbeast, "Hell-Hawk", and "Nazgûl-birds" were used to describe the gigantic flying pterosaur-like, or Wyrm-like, creatures on which the Witch-King of Angmar and the other Nazgûl rode on after being unhorsed at the Ford of Bruinen in Middle-earth. Tolkien did not use this phrase as a proper name for them, but merely as a description. The archaic English word fell means fierce, awful, terrible, cruel, dreadful, savage, etc. Absent any other name, they are usually called "fell beasts" !!

The posters by Florian Bertmer are both 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 180 for the regular one which has the orange flame. While the variant with the red flame has an edition of 85

They both go on sale at a random time Tuesday December 17 at a random time over Mondotees.com

Poster by Phantom City Creative. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 150

This past weekend at the Mondo Gallery in Austin, they opened our newest exhibit celebrating the world of EC COMICS and TALES FROM THE CRYPT. Mondo feels it's only fair to share the scares with those of you who couldn't attend. Tomorrow they will be unleashing the few remains from the show which include posters from Ken Taylor, Gary Pullin, Florian Bertmer, Brandon Holt, Phantom City Creative, Francesco Francavilla

For those who purchase Brandon Holt's TALES FROM THE CRYPT poster, they will randomly insert a few special versions in which Brandon has sketched on in the lower border.

What Brandon had to say about his poster:

Based off of the cover Jack Davis did for the story" The Telescope".. it was the first comic book I ever bought when I was knee high. No joke. I still think about the rat on the cover of that comic whenever I draw one to this day. Jack Davis and Graham Ingels (another ec comic artist) had a huge impact on me when I was a youngster and still today.
These posters will be available online at a random time on Tuesday, October 29th at Mondotees.com
