Junko Mizuno Faith No More Tokyo Posters

No comments:

In 2009 Faith No More decided to regroup to play a handful of reunion shows. They wanted no compromises in quality involving these shows, so they decided to work with Secret Serpents on curating a series of silk screened posters to commemorate these shows. Since then Secret Serpents handled 28 different posters that have covered all of their shows since.

Fast forward to 2015 where Faith No More have announced a new record (their first in 17 years!), and more tour dates - their first since 2012. Once again, Secret Serpents are teaming up with the band to create another no holds barred poster series including some of the best artists.

Each silk screened poster in the series is limited to a one-time only edition of just 115 which is signed and numbered by the artist. The artist and poster image will not be released until the day of show.

The first posters in the series are from Japanese artist Junko Mizuno for the two shows in Tokyo February 17 & 18. Opening for Faith No More on these two shows is Antemasque (members of The Mars Volta and At The Drive In). Secret Serpents also have a handful of matched numbered sets of both nights posters available. Along with the regular edition, there is an edition of only 20 on pastel pearlescent paper.

Opening TONIGHT POST MORAL NEANDERTHAL RETARDIST PORNOGRAPHY SHOW

No comments:

SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS, in conjunction with L.A. RECORD and BLUNDERTOWN,
presents
POST MORAL NEANDERTHAL RETARDIST PORNOGRAPHY
Exhibition Dates: June 8 – June 22
Location: Subliminal Projects 1331 W. Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Opening Reception: Friday, June 8th • 7 PM – 10 PM
Post Post Bash at the Echoplex: Friday, June 8th • 10 PM (Ticketed Event)
Guest Curated by Tom “HAZE-XXL” Hazelmyer with music by members of Melvins, Hammerhead, Halo of Flies, Chrome and Husker Du.

SUBLIMINAL PROJECTS is pleased to announce Post Moral Neanderthal Retardist Pornography, an exhibition of new linocut work by Tom Hazelmyer (founder of Amphetamine Reptile record label) and the release of a Melvins/Hammerhead split, picture-disc vinyl featuring art by Chris Mars, Camille Rose Garcia, HAZE-XXL, Junko Mizuno, and Shepard Fairey. Also on
display will be work by Melvins’ in house artist Mackie, the subversive surrealism of collagemaestro Math.i, and the art of Husker Du’s Grant Hart.

For a generation, Minneapolis label Amphetamine Reptile (AmRep) was the definition of heavy—not just for ahead-of-their-time releases by the Melvins, Helmet, Halo of Flies, and others—but for its unflagging commitment to DIY-the-hard-way ideals and founder Tom Hazelmyer’s (also known as HAZE-XXL) uncompromising vision. AmRep was, and continues to be, dedicated to musicians
who find their own sound and fight to keep it authentic. The label simultaneously seeks out new and established visual artists who are just as righteously iconoclastic as the musicians they carry, always seeking to launch the careers of new talent.

More than twenty years after founding AmRep and helping propel iconic artists like Shepard Fairey, Frank Kozik, Coop and Chris Mars to cultural prominence, Hazelmyer presents Post Moral Neanderthal Retardist Pornography. This music and art collision encompasses records turned objects d’art, visual artists and musicians, all melded into a sticky ball of eye-and-ear melting protoplasm.

The exhibition opens at SUBLIMINAL on Friday, June 8th before traveling to TT Underground Gallery in New York City on June 30th. Opening night will be sound-tracked by members of Melvins, Hammerhead, Halo of Flies, and Husker Du performing live in a specially constructed, closed-door setting. The lo-fi performance will be experienced via live audio stream and projections on gallery walls. Following the opening, AmRep mainstays Hammerhead, Helios
Creed (Chrome), Gay Witch Abortion, Seawhores, and Hepa/Titus (Cows) will perform live at the Echoplex. Check www.attheecho.com for ticketing information.

Also check out Haze's Kickstart Project  The Color of Noise is a full-length documentary about the artist Haze XXL (Tom Hazelmyer) and his label Amphetamine Reptile Records.

Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief from Secret Serpents

No comments:

Recently some close friends of Secret Serpents were directly affected by the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. After being in Christchurch, New Zealand during the recent earthquake, the Melvins headed to Japan to continue their tour. While images continue to come in from the devastated country, the band was able to escape relatively unscathed.

Japanese manga artist Junko Mizuno created the tour poster for the Melvins tour of Japan. While she currently resides in San Francisco, her family is still in Japan and, thankfully, is doing well.

Secret Serpents are currently donating a portion of the sales of Junko Mizuno’s recent Melvins posters sold through our eBay store to help with the relief efforts in Japan. Go HERE to purchase the posters.
