Jerry trying to wriggle out if this mess by rehearsing his distressed phone call.

The broken glass, the shower curtain and the telephone are the items that tell the story of everything that’s wrong with this ‘normal’ home and grieving husband. Be sure to check out the Easter Egg! The Little embroidery shows the kidnapper's hideout including blood!"

Jonathan Burton Rear Window Movie Poster Release

Mad Duck is excited to bring you stunning new licensed posters for Alfred Hitchcock's mystery/thriller masterpiece "Rear Window", with art by the amazing Jonathan Burton! Jonathan had the following to say about the movie and the inspiration for his design:

"Stylistically Rear Window uses Edward Hopper as an inspiration where peering into other people lives, particularly through lit windows before the blinds are pulled down, gives us an insight into a characters loneliness or reveals dysfunctional couples unable to communicate. Voyeuristically we see the neighbourhood through the eyes of Jeff but the film also turns our eyes onto his life and the failing of his relationship with Lisa. I wanted to show that double voyeurism in the poster where we are looking at their flaws as Jeff, being more interested in the goings on of his neighbours, pays little attention to his beautiful and stylish girlfriend who is waiting for him to take notice of her."

Jonathan Burton E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Movie Poster Release From Mondo

E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. Steven Spielberg's iconic story of an unlikely friendship between a young boy and a stranded, lovably strange alien is filmmaking magic at its purest. On Tuesday Mondo will have a stunning new poster by Jonathan Burton celebrating the classic sci-fi film as it's released on a new 35th anniversary edition Blu-ray. Mondo feels Jonathan is one of the best artists working today and his approach to this poster and the final rendering is nothing short of spectacular.

Here's what Jonathan had to say about the poster:

"Settling on an idea from this visually spectacular film was a difficult task. I sketched out many possibilities from different scenes but this one mainly stood out because of the wonderful ‘phone home’ contraption which I wanted to delve into. It’s a kind of W.Heath Robinson style construction where a small action of the wind in the trees tugs at a rope which pulls a fork to turn a wheel which sets off this surprising machine to send a message through space. It’s a magical moment in the film made all the more endearing by the use of Elliot’s 1980s equipment.

I didn’t want to shy away from showing E.T. as a major element of the poster as he’s so iconic but also because I welcomed the challenge of drawing a creature so fascinatingly odd. The character is a great design of unthreatening strangeness and this balance is tricky to capture. His pointing finger is an obvious tribute to the original poster though I like how we have it leading to his home, and with the special spot varnish we only get a glimpse of his solar system within the right light.

Oh how I crave the BMX of my youth."

Jonathan Burton The Ladykillers Movie Poster Release

Vice Press are honored to have worked with artist Jonathan Burton, under license from Studiocanal, on Ealing Studio’s classic 1955 movie The Ladykillers.

This limited edition screen print release comes in two editions, a portrait regular edition and a landscape variant.

Starring Alec Guinness, Peter Sellers and Frankie Howerd, among many others, Jonathan Burton’s classic style captures the wit and charm of The Ladykillers beautifully as the gang attempt to pull of their heist on a security van at Kings Cross Station gaining access through the house of the sweet and eccentric Mrs Wilberforce.

DRIVE by Rory Kurtz And THE AVIATOR by Jonathan Burton Posters Release From Mondo

Two of Mondo's most anticipated films of the year are expanding wide in theaters this week, Ryan Gosling in LA LA LAND and Martin Scorsese’s SILENCE. In celebration they're releasing a pair of posters for some of their favorite films also featuring these tremendous talents.

DRIVE remains one of Mondo's favorite movies of the last few years. Ryan Gosling instantly cemented his portrayal of the “Driver” as a modern cinematic icon, and director Nicolas Winding Refn expertly used an equally iconic L.A. setting as more than just a backdrop as the city took on a character in itself amongst the violence and mystery at play. Rory Kurtz blew everyone away with his output in 2016 and when he told Mondo he loved the film, they knew immediately this was a perfect fusion of artist and property. He did not disappoint.

THE AVIATOR is Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio's depiction of the compulsive nature of Howard Hughes, a man whose life spanned many decades and obsessions. When deciding on an artist for the project Mondo knew they needed someone who could capture the grand history of Mr. Hughes. Jonathan Burton's art perfectly depicts both the frantic energy and old Hollywood charm of the HELL'S ANGELS sequence, portraying Hughes as both man-of-the-sky and cinematic rebel.

The regular and variant versions each represent specific color palettes in the film. Scorsese and his team created two unique palettes (Technicolor inspired two color and vibrant three-strip) to approximate the technology of the film industry in the movie's time periods.

Jonathan Burton Vertigo Movie Poster Release

Mad Duck Posters is excited to announce a new poster for Alfred Hitchcock's classic film Vertigo with art by the incredible Jonathan Burton!

This Wednesday, Mad Duck Posters is releasing the first posters in a new series of officially licensed art based on the amazing films of Alfred Hitchcock! They start things off with a phenomenal Vertigo poster by Jonathan Burton! Mr. Burton brilliantly captured the essence of the movie.

The artist had the following to say about his art for Vertigo:

"The scene of Madeleine floating in the bay surrounded by flowers directly reflects images of Shakespeare’s Ophelia. I used Sir John Everett Millais’s painting of Ophelia as my source of inspiration for her floating pose and the water’s reflection of Madeleine’s face became an interesting way to represent her duality.

The films use of colour is very rich with contrasting reds and greens. Madeleine and Judy are constantly associated with the colour green; her car, clothes, the cemetery, the lighting in the motel and the green water of the bay in which she throws herself. The reason I coloured the water such a strong shade of deep green.

My representation of Scottie is a direct tribute to the iconic original poster of Saul Bass with a graphic disorienting shape around his silhouette. In the two editions of this poster I wanted to try different ways of showing Scottie’s panic. The Variant edition uses the more classic ‘spiral’ which is synonymous with the film while the regular edition has the form of his silhouette zooming out. In this version Scottie appears to be running towards us but the zoom effect gives the illusion that he’s falling away. It’s a link to the nausea inducing special effect, invented by Hitchcock, of the camera lens zooming in while the camera pulls back. A technique that was used so effectively to represent Scottie's phobia."

Vertigo is available in three editions. A regular and variant edition of the Vertigo movie poster, along with a smaller companion print to the poster called "Have you been here before?". The companion print sets the stage for the events that are unfolding in the Vertigo poster and is a great print on it's own or next to Vertigo!

Jonathan Burton King Kong Posters Release From Mondo

On Thursday Mondo is releasing KING KONG posters by artist Jonathan Burton in two beautiful versions: Jungle and City. The concepts were picked by MondoCon's "Mondo Talk" panel audience last October, who were asked to vote on three different sketches. There was a tie between two...so Rob Jones decided to do both!

"The KONG project has been a huge pleasure to work on particularly as the ideas were voted on by Mondo fans at the MondoCon 2 panel. The audience was split between these two and I’m flattered to be asked asked to produce both. The challenge for me was to make them both work as individual posters and as a pair.

The ‘Jungle’ poster is a nod to the spirit of the original 1933 posters playing on the fear of the immense monster. He is KING in his own habitat. Whereas the ‘City’ version (paying tribute to the Art Deco style of the film’s opening credits) shows us Kong on the defence dwarfed by the man-made skyscrapers fleeing from the human captors.

As Carl Denham says, “He’s always been a king in his world, but we’ll teach him fear”

Linking them together we have Ann Darrow in each, Jack Driscoll and Carl Denham are in both with very similar poses. The titles are in exactly the same place and the tag-lines help express the connected themes of a strange giant beast obsessed with the beauty of Ann Darrow ending up being controlled and destroyed by man." - Jonathan Burton

Jonathan Burton Frankenstein & Mark Chiarello Mad Monster Party Posters Release From Mondo

Mondo is continuing this monster-filled month with two awesome new posters: FRANKENSTEIN & MAD MONSTER PARTY! Those of you who attended the Mondo Talk panel at MondoCon got a first glimpse at Jonathan Burton's FRANKENSTEIN and they're stoked to release the poster in two versions tomorrow.

Jonathan said about his print: "For this poster I wanted to show the emotional attachment of Dr. Frankenstein to his ‘creature' and how he treats it so sensitively long before he brings it to life. The laboratory is a manifestation of this madness; so beautifully inventive in its imagination. Its painterly lighting is an absolute gift to an illustrator. I LOVE the film, and its moments of poetry and spectacle is - for me - pure cinema! I hope fans of the film feel the poster is an appealing tribute."

Mondo are huge fans of Mark Chiarello who works for DC Comics and their pumped to work with him for the first time. As soon as he told Mondo how much he loved Mad Monster Party, they knew it’d be a perfect fit. Mondo really love his tribute to the stop motion animated classic.

Here's what Mark had to say about the release: "Mad Monster Party had a very limited theatrical release when I was a seven year old kid, in 1967. Me and my equally young pals sat there in that darkened movie theater on the last day it was showing (a late afternoon Saturday matinee) just glued to our seats. Most people talk about the first time they saw Star Wars or Raiders or Jaws, but for me, that afternoon, MMP carved a trench in my brain that has never healed. Every hardcore movie fan has two or three movies they can watch again and again and again. It's a comfort food, it's nostalgia, it's memories of a simpler time, it's crack cocaine. Damn, I feel like watching Mad Monster Party again right"
