Greg Ruth SXSW Comedy Poster 2020 Release

No comments:

Like everything else the SXSW Comedy Festival 2020 was cancelled and Greg Ruth created an amazing poster for the shows. The blue edition is the regular and the brown was given to performers.

Here's Greg's statement:
"What on earth does this weirdo image have to do with comedy, SXSW, and Texas? (If anything?)
When we the artists, get the lucky tap to do one of these posters for a favorite show, we are even more blessed with a free hand to basically come up with anything -- as long as it makes a striking image and includes the jester frog somewhere within. It’s a rare gift to be given that freedom, and I confess I took that long rope and ran wild with it, happily. Frankly though, I always liked the idea of comedy being a function of pain fueled by surprise. There’s a pathos behind what makes something funny, and a shared empathy that enjoins us all to laugh together. I guess an upside down, bisected horse, dipped in paint is how I put that idea into a picture. The frog is their fault, the horse we can blame on Texas, and the rest you can blame on me."- Greg Ruth

Here's the list of names that appears on the poster around the boarder:
Aaron Jackson • Ahmed Bharoocha • Alex English • Alyssa Stonoha • Andy Haynes • Anthony Devito • Ayo Edebiri • Besty Sodaro • Bill Burr • Bob Odenkirk • Brett Davis • Byron Bowers • Dave Hill • David Gborie • Doug Benson • Eddie Pepitone • Eugene Cordero • Frank Oz • Gil Ozeri • Greg Stone • Hannibal Buress • Horatio Sanz • James Adomian • Joel Kim Booster • Jon Daly • Judd Apatow • Kiry Shabazz • Leonard Maltin • Liza Treyger • Lorelei Ramirez • Maggie Maye • Mary Holland • Matt Besser • Matt Kirshen • Megan Stalter • Mike Feeney • Mitra Jouhari • Monroe Martin • Nick Thune • Patti Harrison • Pete Davidson • Rachel Pegram • Ricky Velez • Roast Battle • Robert Kelly • Rosebud Baker • Sabrina Jalees • Samantha Bee • Sandy Honig • Shane Gillis • Stuart Goldsmith • Thomas Middleditch • Yamaneika Saunders

Greg Ruth & Boris Pelcer Movie Posters Release From Mondo

No comments:

On Tuesday Mondo will have a pair of stunning new posters celebrating two powerhouse genre films by filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos: THE LOBSTER and THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER!

Both of these films are amongst some of Mondo's favorites to come out over the last couple years, and they're proud to release posters from artists Boris Pelcer and Greg Ruth, respectively. Both Boris and Greg approached their posters with a depth worthy of each film's vastly different themes, and they both truly crushed it. To discuss further would take away from the experience of seeing these films, so they'll step aside and let the art (and artists) have the floor.

THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER is available on home video/Blu-Ray Tuesday and Mondo can't recommend seeing it fast enough. If you have yet to experience THE LOBSTER as well, consider saddling up for one of the craziest double features.

Both posters will be available for purchase at a random time Tuesday (1/23) via https://mondotees.com/.

Greg Ruth Daredevil Poster Mondo

Greg Ruth Daredevil white variant print Mondo

On Thursday Mondo will have a couple of new Marvel posters for Daredevil and Scarlet Witch by two artists they're working with for the first time, Greg Ruth and David Aja.

Up first they'll have two posters for their favorite guardian of Hell's Kitchen, 'ol Hornhead himself, Daredevil! Greg Ruth is an incredibly talented artist and Mondo couldn't be more happy about working together. Late last year, Mondo came across this Daredevil artwork from Greg and were completely blown away. Daredevil standing tall as a watchful protector over his city's seedy underbelly. They contacted him immediately and, thankfully, here we are.

Here's what Greg had to say about the piece:
"I write and draw as a day job, and I always like to start my week off doing a drawing that isn't about work at all. A codified act of playing hooky. I don't usually do graphite drawings this way because they gobble up a lot of time, but this one Monday back in the summer I just started drawing this fellow before I knew who he was. More of a lighting experiment, rally.... then a little mark on his head became the horns, and the city below just started growing, and there he was.. Daredevil. I'd never drawn him before in my life, but now I can't wait to draw him again."
Daredevil by Greg Ruth. 18"x24" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 275.

Daredevil (Variant) by Greg Ruth. 18"x24" screen print. Hand numbered. Edition of 150.

These posters will be available online at a random time on Thursday, January 19th at Mondotees.com
