The National Los Angeles Posters By DKNG Release

DKNG Studios are excited to share their latest posters for The National, for their recent pair of shows at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Their work for The National over the years has focused on aerial views of various locations and transportation related mostly, and for their stop in LA, DKNG knew they had to illustrate a labyrinth of freeways. For the two nights of shows, DKNG created a diptych with the maze of ramps and streets spanning both posters.

The National posters are 18” x 24” four-color screen prints on 105 lb Stardream Silver cover stock, with a signed and numbered artist edition of 100 prints for each night. They also have a very limited number of uncut 36” x 24” poster sets. The National Los Angeles posters will go on sale at 10am PDT Monday, September 24 in the DKNG Store.

DKNG Studios 311 Reno Posters Release

311 just kicked off their Endless Summer tour and DKNG Studios are excited about their poster for the first stop of the tour in Reno, Nevada. They were inspired by the summer surf van vibes of the tour and created an illustration of their favorite surf-mobile along with a kook-stack of boards on the roof for all five band members.

The poster is a 24” x 18” three color screen print on 100 lb Classic Crest Cream paper, and a variant edition of 10pt rainbow foil. DKNG produced four separate color variations in total, with two exclusive to the DKNG store. The 311 posters will be available Tuesday, July 24th, at 10am PST in the DKNG Studios store.

Van Morrison Los Angeles Print By DKNG Studios

One of DKNG Studios favorite artists, Van Morrison, is back on the road this year, and they had the privilege of creating a poster for his two-night stop in Los Angeles. DKNG had fun with the Vegas poster they created for Van during his 2017 tour (that looks amazing in person), and decided to add to the series with a Southern California themed neon sign, also printed on metallic rainbow foil.

The poster is an 18” x 24” three color screen print on 10pt Rainbow Foil with a signed and numbered edition of 275.

DKNG Studios St. Paul & The Broken Bones Poster Release

One of DKNG Studios favorite bands, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, just wrapped up their tour of the West Coast, and in addition to catching their incredible Portland and San Francisco shows in person, DKNG were thrilled to design the poster for the tour. They were inspired by the powerful, often spiritual energy of the band, and created an epic, flaming pipe organ that might be at home in the band’s collection of instruments.

The poster is an 18” x 24” two color screen print on 12pt Mirri gold foil paper with an edition size of 550.

DKNG Studios The Decemberists 2017 Tour Poster

The Decemberists just took the West Coast by storm and DKNG Studios were happy to be tasked with creating a poster for the tour. DKNG were inspired by Pacific Northwest road-tripping and the giant Sequoias and Redwoods that line the coast.

The poster is an 18” x 24” three color screen print on French Speckletone Madero Beach 100lb cover stock, with a signed and numbered edition of 950.

DKNG Studios Spider Verse Poster From Mondo

Spider-Man is one of the greats. Period. The character debuted in 1962 and is as popular now as he’s ever been - if not more. With such a storied history, Mondo have long been wanting to do a “history of” type poster for the many various Spider-people over the course of Spidey’s 55 year history.

In 2014, Marvel published an event called “Spider-Verse” that featured every Spider- character ever. In celebration, Mondo wanted to do their own take so Mondo enlisted the magicians at DKNG Studios to design a Spider-Verse poster that includes upwards of 70 different incarnations of the ol’ web head from alternate Peter Parker’s (and Porker’s) to other iconic characters who also donned spider powers of their own. So much research went into this project and they couldn’t be more proud of how it turned out and the amazing work DKNG did in executing the final pieces.

DKNG Studios Van Morrison Las Vegas Poster

This past weekend, Van Morrison played two sold out shows at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and as long time fans, DKNG Studios were honored to create the official gig poster for the event. They were inspired by the vintage neon signs that have lined the Las Vegas strip, and created Van’s own custom sign. The entire edition of posters is printed on metallic rainbow foil which gives the neon and light bulbs in the sign a convincing shimmer when viewed in person.

The poster is an 18” x 24” three color screen print on 10pt Rainbow Foil with an edition size of 400.

DKNG Studios Explorers Club Cyclist Print Series

The latest series in the DKNG Studios Explorers Club has rolled into town and this time they’re featuring the wide world of bicycles! The new Cyclist Series of art prints depicts five different bicycles each in its own environment and featuring its own unique accessories. Each print is a 20” x 16” four-color screen print on 100lb French Paper cover stock. The series is comprised of Mesa (road bike), Durango (mountain bike), Downtown (fixie), Venice (guy’s beach cruiser), and Malibu (girl’s beach cruiser).

311 DKNG Studios Indio & San Diego Posters On Sale

 

The day is almost here that all 311 fans look forward too. But before that rolls around on Friday 311 played a couple of shows this weekend to warm up for the big one.

DKNG Studios did the posters for the shows in Indio & San Diego California this weekend. Each posters is an 18” x 24” three color screen print on Classic Crest Cream 110 lb. stock. There’s also a variant edition on rainbow foil, and a super limited run of uncut sheets - 36” x 24” prints including both posters.

Jurassic Park Velociraptor Poster by DKNG Studios For Mondo

With Jurassic World opening in theaters last week, Mondo Gallery in Austin opened their latest exhibition “When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth”, showcasing new works based on the Jurassic Park films. DKNG Studios contribution to the show is a Velociraptor infographic, designed as if it existed within the park itself. The poster is packed with info specific to the Michael Crichton/Steven Spielberg version of the dinosaur which also makes an appearance in the latest film in the Jurassic series.

"Jurassic Park: Velociraptor" is a 24” x 18” four color screen print on Curious Metallics Lustre paper with an artist edition of 60 prints. Check out our initial sketch below as well as closeup photos of the finished print. The poster is now available in the DKNG Store.

DKNG Studios Bison Print Release

For those that caught a glimpse of DKNG Studios most recent Skillshare.com class, Illustration for Designers, they took a step by step look at our process of illustrating a geometrically styled animal. DKNG chose to illustrate a Bison face for the class, and that illustration is now available as an art print in the DKNG store. Bison is a 16” x 20” three-color art print on 100 lb. French Speckletone Cream paper. The print marks the introduction to their new line of smaller, 16” x 20” art prints that are the perfect size for any wall. Bison is also their first print to combine both halftone dots and dither dots in a single print for a unique combination of textures.

Wizard of Oz DKNG Studios Artist Edition Posters

DKNG Studio's are excited to announce the release of their Wizard of Oz posters in three versions. The prints feature Dorothy's carriage drawn by The Horse of a Different Color as she enters the Emerald City. When approaching a film as iconic as The Wizard of Oz, they wanted to find a unique focal point beyond the main iconography of the film. The Horse of a Different Color occupies just a brief scene, but proved to be a great subject for a print series that includes the three different colors - purple, red, and yellow - that the horse takes on in the film.

The poster is a four color screen print measuring 24 x 18 inches on French Speckletone Starch Mint paper with a super limited artist edition of 20 of each color. Each print shares three ink colors with the fourth screen customized to provide the color change for each of the three horses. The Wizard of Oz posters are now available in the DKNG Store.

DKNG Studios The Decemberists Berkeley Poster

On May 1, The Decemberists performed to a sold out crowd at Berkeley, California’s Greek Theatre and DKNG Studios were thrilled to create the official poster for the Bay Area’s own Another Planet Entertainment. The design was inspired by the nineteenth century folklore of the band’s lyrics and signature accordion sound.The poster is a three color screen print on French Speckletone Kraft paper with a limited artist edition of 50 prints. DKNG Studios Wizard of Oz Poster Mondo Release

On Tuesday Mondo is excited to release THE WIZARD OF OZ by DKNG Studios in three versions. The prints feature Dorothy's carriage drawn by The Horse of a Different Color as she enters Emerald City.

Here's what DKNG had to say about the prints:

"When approaching a film as iconic as The Wizard of Oz, we wanted to find a unique focal point beyond the main iconography of the film. DKNG Studios Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals San Francisco Poster Series

You don't see a series of posters like this very often and DKNG Studio's killed it with these. It’s been seven years since Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals have performed together, and DKNG were honored to create a poster series for their inaugural shows of 2015. The band will be touring throughout the year and kicked off their first four-night run at San Francisco’s historic Fillmore. DKNG were inspired by the animalistic power of the band’s music and chose one animal to represent each night’s show, towering over the bay area’s landscape. 

Each poster is a 12” x 24” five-color screen print on French Speckletone Madero Beach with a signed & numbered edition of 230 for each night.  These posters are now available in the DKNG Store.

DKNG Studios Pink Panther 50th Anniversary Posters Artist Edition Release

DKNG Studios were thrilled to have collaborated with Skuzzles and MGM for the first time on a limited edition Pink Panther poster to celebrate the film’s 50th Anniversary. Although the Pink Panther in the film refers to a stolen precious diamond, the animated character first appeared in the film’s main title sequence and went on to star in its own Saturday morning cartoons. The poster depicts the panther sneaking up on an unsuspecting Inspector Clouseau.

The Pink Panther is an 18” x 24” screen print available as a regular edition, four-color print on French Pop-Tone Cotton Candy paper and a variant edition, three-color print on Cougar White paper. The artist edition of The Pink Panther is NOW available in the DKNG Store.

DKNG Studios TRON Movie Poster

DKNG Studios recently had the opportunity to collaborate with Galerie F and the Logan Theatre in Chicago to create a limited edition screen printed poster for the cult classic TRON. The iconic light cycles from the film immediately came to mind for DKNG as the focal point for the design. The poster captures the moment that the player enters the grid and the light cycle materializes around them.

The poster is a three color screen print on Cougar White paper measuring 18 x 24 inches with an artist edition of 75 signed and numbered posters.

DKNG Studios Home Alone Movie Poster Mondo Release

On Thursday Mondo will be releasing a poster for modern Christmas classic HOME ALONE by DKNG Studios. These guys never fail to impress with their screen printing expertise. It's incredible that this poster only has four colors, but not entirely surprising when you consider what they can do with two. Fans of the movie are going to have fun spotting all the hidden surprises.

Here's what they had to say about the print:

"When approaching a concept for Home Alone, we knew the interior of the McCallister home and all of Kevin’s tricks to foil the Wet Bandits were likely to be the focus of our design. However, we also wanted to incorporate the exterior of the house and provide a different perspective on some of the movie’s most iconic scenes.

We took some liberties with the architecture of the house and the layout of the property, but in the end the exterior allowed us to include some of our favorite imagery from Home Alone including the Oh-Kay Plumbing van, the perpetually knocked over bronze statue, and off course, Old Man Marley.

This poster was an interesting challenge for us as we’ve typically been using two-color printing for this more realistic style. This time around, we stepped up to a four-color design that looks great with the fine halftones blending the colors. The poster is printed on a subtle metallic paper that will give the snow an extra shimmer as well."
