Guy Burwell 311 & Tedeschi Trucks Band Posters

No comments:

Guy Burwell has a couple of new posters.

Tedeschi Trucks Band poster from the Richmond concert comes in a regular print edition only. The matte treatment of the inks has a very retro vintage finish and looks very nice. It's something Guy is going to pursue in some coming prints.

311 Protland comes in a regular print edition as is common and also a FOIL print edition on Crackle Foil. It's nice. The prints are very attractive, he thinks. The Foil prints have a wonderful gloss to them and the regular prints are matte treated for a swell vintage look to the finish that goes along well with the sketchy nature of the line arts. Both of these prints are a bit experimental for Guy in some ways that we don't need to go into. The experiment is a success and Guy will move forward with further testing.

Guy Burwell Posies Rockville & My Morning Jacket Posters

No comments:

Guy Burwell has 3 new posters he released recently.

Late last year, My Morning Jacket requested a small limited edition of an Archived Print to be reproduced as a sort of anniversary of sorts. It was Guy's print from the 2005 Portland show with Saul Williams and it was offered online through mymorningjacket.com. Guy has a few left of his small artist edition available. The Original archived art files were used for this print, reprinted with modern inks with an updated tagline so as not to confused between new and old edition as is only fair. S/N, doodled edition.

Guy loves Power Pop music and loves Smart Lyrics. Put those together and mixed into the tip top of the creamy froth is The Posies. He was thrilled to be asked to do a small edition of prints for Ken and Jon as they made their way across the "United" States on this electro-acoustic duo tour.

This year, he will have two Festival Prints. Welcome to Rockville, Jacksonville, FL, 2019, featuring the first stop on TOOL's anticipated 2019 return to touring, as well as kool stuff like Rob Zombie and Korn and a who is who of the world of art shock and darkternative groove blisters (which you can buy now). The other being the Sonic Temple Festival in Columbus, OH, featuring FOO FIGHTERS and System of a Down, Joan Jett / Blackhearts, The Cult, The Hives and many more this weekend. But you will have to wait to see the Sonic Temple one until next week.

Guy Burwell Foo Fighters St Louis Poster

No comments:

Guy Burwell grew up in St. Louis and like his QOTSA print last year he is always happy to produce a print for the old home town crowd.  There aren't a lot of them, but the ones there are are pretty good looking.

He has a new store with some older posters added and a bunch of new posters as well.

Nine Inch Nails Phoenix Print By Guy Burwell Release

No comments:

Nine Inch Nails kicked off their Cold and Black and Infinite North American tour last week in Phoenix and Guy Burwell did the poster for the second night. His second of the tour season for NIN is an expression of the construct that lies behind the mechanisms that make up the music that stirs the devils in us all.

According to Guy
It was...meditative...to make. A strange one from this end. There is a standard edition on 100 Cougar Natural, slick like technology in four colors. There is also an edition on mirror surface stock with just enough reflection to accent rather than overpower or undermine.

Guy Burwell Dirty Heads Dallas Poster

No comments:

Guy Burwell has released a poster he designed for the Dirty Heads show in Dallas last week.

According to Guy "These prints turned out nice! They got all the fun poster stuff. It's okay if you don't know Dirty Heads, so much. They have a devoted following built over many years of club and festival gigs creating their version of a So-Cal beach and turnpike, reggae tinged urban party vibe."

Posters are 4 color screen print that measures 15.5 x 23.5 inches and come signed & numbered.

Guy Burwell Avett Brothers, Band of Horses And A Free Print

No comments:

Guy Burwell has won his battle with cancer and has 2 new posters and a free print.

Details from Guy on the art;

Band of Horses were nice enough to let me take my sweet time and explore some of the weird brain clouds and come up with a new print for their Spring Tour coming up right now. The art is a sort of free form “let me do what feels comfortable and no hang ups” sort of medicated sunflower to start this new season. The prints are really attractive in a sort of Old Themes meet New Means sort of way.
PERSONAL NOTE: Coming out of having treatments and huge piles of fatigue and exhaustion of mind and body inside and out, making these three items were partly strange therapy in and of themselves. This Band of Horses art, loose and boundary-less was perfect for the first thing back. Having them let me let my pencil be weird was very necessary, and I appreciate the support.

A second offering, Road Warrior (not the Road Warrior you are thinking of but rather the first in a short line of) is a new small art print in the same spirit to get another little aspect of healing out through our brain, along our elbow, past the forearm vein and along the finger to the pencil then expressed via a nice Kuretake. The first in a small collection of these we hope.
PERSONAL NOTE: For them who draw, for profit or even just for fun, they know that access to the void is both therapy, desperately important therapy and also escape and also entertainment and also expression and also happiness. When that access is broken or denied, it makes everything harder. So finding it again is good stuff.

As a Third item, consider The Avett Brothers and my effort on their behalf and their infinite patience and glory in helping us out with some added purpose of effort and genial acceptance and support! Hooray, is the word for today. And here is the poster art that we provided for The Avett Brothers in Tallahassee, FL. for 2017. We were making an effort to make certain that we did a lot of drawing for this one, just to remind our self that it’s still possible. xo
PERSONAL NOTE: This one actually started slowly, went along slowly and ended very slowly as I took my time to concentrate on lots of tiny lines as I knew I would be having to deal with them sooner or later, and The Avett Brothers were super relaxed and willing to have me take the time to do something mental.

SALE INFO:
Once again Jason at Po'Boy arts, in conjunction with two hanging exhibits in Portland, and a recent fundraising Online Art Sale on our behalf (!!!) will be handling all of the arrangements for offering these prints to the Public! And our many thanks to him and everyone at Po' Boy.

Guy Burwell Avett Brothers Little Rock Poster

No comments:

The Avett Brothers contacted Guy Burwell for a poster design and print and if you attended the show in Little Rock last Friday night you perhaps saw the result, his first design for them.

An illustrated representation of wistful romantic possibilities, poignant foibles, tall tales and telling tokens tantamount to tuneful totemic treatises told truthfully. In Fall. A simple enough conceit. A golden metallic base sets the tone for shimmering ghost of Fall flavors. Edge to edge printing, crisp lines and a glossy sheen all add a little something extra to this edition. It's pretty nice.

Also available will be a very small number of Alternative prints on Opal Stardream 110 lb stock, a softly metallic stock with a opalescent finish. They are signed but not of a numbered edition and come remarqued.

The regular edition is a signed & numbered edition of 50 measuring 17.5 x 23.5 full bleed
4 color screen print.

My Morning Jacket Red Rocks Posters by Guy Burwell Release Details

1 comment:

So a couple of people casually asked if  Guy Burwell would have any of his recent posters from the two shows at Red Rocks performed not so terribly long ago by the musical act My Morning Jacket. They are a lovely bunch of fellows and you should consider checking them out. These prints are a nice set of travel style graphics in a lovely matte finish in inks that are better than almost any other commercial ink in durability on a 100 lb natural Cougar stock. Signed and number they may contain magical properties designed to calm the blood, put a chillin' to the illin' and impart the ability to let that which does not matter truly slide, dig? Dig.

This Saturday, September 10, 2016, around 10:30 AM West Coast time Guy will make available some of his prints through his website GUYBURWELL.Com in both sets of two (matching numbers when possible) and also single date prints.
