Saber LA River Art Print

No comments:

If you are into graffiti history then you all ready know the stories about Saber's Los Angeles River Piece he painted in 1997.

Saber was recently on the TV show "To Tell The Truth". Fast forward to the 9 minute mark to see him, it's a great segment. His part of the episode centered around who was "Saber" the artist who painted the worlds largest graffiti piece in the LA River. Here is what Saber had to say "If you think about it, this crazy mission I went on when I was a kid has now become a part of popular culture."

Saber decided to celebrate by printing a very limited run. He's never done a large format giclee print edition of this before, it measures 35 x 24 inches. He also added a little extra love with the embellished signature making each print unique.

Saber Indivisible HPM Art Print

No comments:

Saber has released a new Hand Embellished print titled Indivisible.

Details from the graffiti legend: This print was an experiment from start to finish. This is a multi-dimensional mixed media print in the sense that the original image was created as a conceptual digital-video piece. From this video experiment I was able to capture the final image to be translated into the print format. This was tricky breaking the American Flag that was printed on glass and capturing the right moments as it shattered but as this process evolved and so did the outcome. I really went all out on these prints with the hand touching. Within the printed layers are raw spraypaint tags buried under multi-colored split fountains. I also penciled and spraypainted on top of the prints weaving these colors and gestures through the image. Now multiply each one of these hand done whips and bits times 128. This large multi-media print was definitely a challenge, but with this came some amazing results.

Standard Edition: 68 (60 available)
Size: Roughly 71 cm x 102.5 cm
Signed In Pencil and Numbered In Bottom Left Corner
Seriopress Chop In Right Corner
Hand Deckled Edges
Each Print Has Spraypaint And Pencil Embellishments
Signed COA
Each Print Is Unique From The Next

There are also black and white variants as well.

Saber Red And Black HPM Print

No comments:

Saber has several new prints for sale including some hand embellished prints. This Serigraph Edition was an experiment. Saber drew black scribbles, splats and spray-marks onto the clear film. Then scanned and zoomed way into some of these tiny accidental characteristics. He stumbled on to this smooth beautiful saturated red paper that felt perfect for this print.

This edition includes three split fountains, hand scratched, pencil, and hand spray-painted accents as well as hand embellished gold foil. Shit, Saber even hand deckled half the edition with master printer John Miner. Saber couldn't keep my hands off this thing. This print feels like a jewel in person. These photos don't do justice, really vibrant. Because the paper was smooth there is a lot of really nice texture interacting with the printed layers.
This print is part of the Hand Touched Multiple Series with hand painted elements. Every print and hand touched HPM's are different from the next. Between the hand embellishments and split fountains each print and HPM including gold embellishment has variations.

-Size: 18 x 24 Inches
-Red And Black Hand Touched Edition: 14 all together, only 4 of this version is available.
-Medium: 4-Color Serigraph Ultra-Red Fine Art Paper, Three Split Fountains, With Gold Foil Embellishment, Hand Done Spraypaint Fade, Hand Scratched Accents, Incorporated Signature With Pencil, Solid Pigment Oil Sticks, Spraypaint
Signed and numbered with COA

Saber The Revolution Will Not Be Televised Print Release

No comments:

Saber is releasing a new print on Wednesday. "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" artwork inspired by the poem and song by Gil Scott-Heron.

Carrying on the same theme he searched for different poems that he could write out using a dripper pen. This poem stuck out to Saber in the sense that these topics conveyed in the poem are currently relevant and have been since this poem was written.

These are Saber's words inspired by the poem...

The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought to you by the networks. The revolution will not be brought to you by the corporations. The revolution will not be brought to you by the institutions. The revolution will not be brought to you by the politicians.
The revolution will be brought to you by you..............

Saber Tool of Dissent Print Release

No comments:

Many people over the years have drawn inspiration from the words of Walt Whitman. For his newest print Saber has found it in the poem "I hear it was Charged against Me".

The print titled "I Hear It Was Charged Against Me That I Sought to Destroy Institutions" (now day of release is called Tool of Dissent) will have 5 editions, Black on Chrome Archival paper, Blue on Chrome and the one Saber said he likes the best holographic archival paper plus 2 variants. Each print is hand touched and unique and comes with 2 deckled edges.

On sale Wednesday May 6 at 9 AM PDT at SaberOne.com

Here is the full poem

I HEAR it was charged against me that I sought to destroy institutions;
But really I am neither for nor against institutions;
(What indeed have I in common with them?—Or what with the destruction of them?)
Only I will establish in the Mannahatta, and in every city of These States, inland and seaboard,
And in the fields and woods, and above every keel, little or large, that dents the water, 5
Without edifices, or rules, or trustees, or any argument,
The institution of the dear love of comrades.

Coated Super Metallic Chrome Archival Paper
24" x 34.5"
Edition Size: 10 Fine Art Original Paintings, 4 Artist Proofs / Signed & Numbered with COA

 Artist Statement:
This reductive process is perfect for my hyper sharp style. This allows me to reduce the strokes to just rapid hand movements that mimic whipping swords, wire and needles. I got a hold of this awesome chrome paper, I was thinking to myself what the hell am I going to do with this. Threw some black paint on top and like those magical mistakes I wiped some of the paint off and BLING!, a chrome brush whip was sparking in the light. Grabbed some scratch tools and this beautiful series emerged. The writing in each piece is crews spelled out with layers of all my friends who have affected my life. In this sense each stroke has a purpose.....

Ewok Mischief Prints On Sale

No comments:

Los Angeles Graffiti artist Ewok made debut with 1xRUN recently with his first print release with them titled Mischief. Which as Ewok puts it " I love graffiti, and I hate police. This is a humorous look at the tension between the two." The print is a 10 color screen print with a signed and numbered edition of 75.

"The theme is part of my overall 20-something year old love affair with graffiti. It’s part of my evolving perspective on it going from being a secret hobby/identity to being a viable means of self expression and quasi-making a living.

I recently started putting a top-hat on my throw-up ‘E’, and then the E kind of evolved into a character. From there the character started being in all these graffiti-type scenarios, so I figured what better way to show that than having him being chased by some hideous pig/cop character." - Ewok

Saber City of Angelz Echopark Print Release

No comments:

After murdering some walls in Hawaii for Pow Wow 2015 he has a new print for sale titled City of Angelz Echopark.

PRINT SPECIFICATIONS:
Edition Size: 20 Giclee / Signed & Numbered
Dimensions: 20" W x 26" H Print Size, Image size 16" W x 20" H with 2" White Border
Materials: Epson Fine Art Cold Press Bright
Acid free, 100% cotton rag media with a bright textured finish. Epson UltraChrome HDR Pigment Inks
Each print comes with a signed COA

Saber's thoughts on the print:
Downtown Los Angeles is about speed, movement, history and the contrast of light and dark. High rises, palm trees and new development lure the hope and promise of the future while still hinting towards the anxiety of the dangers hidden within the shadows. As times grinds forward night becomes shield for allusive activities that appear in plain-view at sunrise.

Saber Colores Para Siempre Print Release Details

No comments:

For the first time ever Los Angeles graffiti artist and modern legend Saber will be releasing a print with 1RUN on Monday titled Colores Para Siempre. There will be two editions, a regular one and a hand embellished edition.

"This was created just for the screen print, and it was inspired by a photograph that I took inside the banks of the Los Angeles river. I stumbled upon that particular image in the LA river and it was basically a representation of the post "War On Graffiti" era. So we’re dealing with the aftermath of the billions of dollars that have been spent on removing graffiti art. There is literally a billion dollar project that’s going down in the LA river. Basically everything is summed up with this photo in the sense that you have this buff that has been crumbled off of these old pieces and what's left is this little glimpse of that piece of history." - Saber

The paper on these is super thick, so thick that Saber was able to etch in the paper, so the signatures are all etched in the beige layer, rather than being penciled in, which is kinda cool. Saber used his knife to etch into the paper and it’s so thick that it doesn’t cut through the paper. Check out the video of him "signing" them HERE

Both prints go on sale Monday at NOON EDT at 1xRUN.com

Saber Union Jacked Print Release Details

No comments:

The European debut solo exhibition by Saber was first unveiled at The Outsiders Newcastle in Autumn 2013. Now, by popular demand, fans of the internationally-acclaimed urban artist can see The Ugly American in Britain's capital.

Saber's exhibition features a wide range of paintings, created with his signature technique of blending unforgiving aerosol art with exquisite abstractions in charcoal and oil. Suffering from epilepsy and being denied healthcare, the politically engaged artist decided to voice some issues and battles for universal care by attacking and transforming iconic images of US and Union Jack flags, using found packing crates. Saber’s abstract paintings, made with layered collages and painted paper, combine harmoniously to form a delicate texture with his strong and powerful sharp signature lines

The works aim to be an aesthetic reflection on American society, just like the 1963 movie The Ugly American starring Marlon Brando. "I come from this culture that's so self-centered and self-preserved, and I want to expose the cracks in it", says the outspoken artist. Come and see for yourself: as Brando himself would say, "It's an offer you can't refuse".

This Thursday The Outsiders will be releasing Union Jacked. The print is 45cm x 90cm. Hand-finished, 17-colour screen print on 410gsm Somerset Tub Sized paper with 23-carat gold leaf and deckled edges. Signed and numbered edition of 75.

OPENINGS: REVOK-ORDINARY THINGS the Library Street Collective Covered

No comments:

Last night saw the opening of Los Angeles graffiti artist Revok's one man show ORDINARY THINGS at The Library Street Collective in Detroit and Inside the Rock Poster was there to bring you the images.

Living in Detroit since 2010, Los Angeles graffiti writer REVOK is someone who seems up to the task of expanding his palette beyond the temporal world of street art. Since 1991, REVOK has been making a name for himself by dominating all aspects of graffiti art in cities across the country. With a distinctive style, and a competitive drive unmatched within graffiti circles, REVOK has achieved global attention reserved for a select few.

The show is a compilation of pieces that are made up from a collection of recovered objects cultivated from the streets of Detroit, then thoughtfully reassembled in what could be considered a geographical timeline: one that records the neighborhoods and streets that REVOK has continuously used as the backdrop for his street art since moving to Detroit. Although there are echoes of his background in graffiti art, REVOK is plowing forward with an individual voice as an artist, willing to transition without the shackles of graffiti art trailing behind him.

REVOK also worked with Rime on a huge piece that for me was my favorite. The piece measures a staggering 70' x 70'  and is titled 8448 Van Dyke. Like with all the pieces it's not simply item assembled but they he also added paint to each one.

The gallery was packed all night with graffiti artists and fans alike. Casey EKLIPS Zoltan, Founder of THE SEVENTH LETTER was in attendance as well. I have a feeling the people of Detroit woke up this morning to some new work around the city.

Revok also had a huge wall of photo displayed of various elements of the city that he has been taking since he arrived in 2010. The more than 90 photos kinda chronicles his travels around his new home town.

Click "Coverage of Gallery Openings" Tab at the top of the page to see all the pictures

The show runs till January 26th, 2013. The Library Street Collective is located @ 1260 Library Street, Detroit, MI 48226 ~ ph#313.600.7443 ~ http://www.lscgallery.com

RISK & Nathan Ota Old School New School Print On Sale Today

No comments:

1xRUN welcome back California duo of RISK and Nathan Ota as they return with Old School New School. The debut collaboration RUN Crucifix sold out almost instantly, as did Nathan's solo RUN "Birds of Play", so be sure to grab this one early. Nathan Ota took a few to talk about the latest collab in the 1xRUN Thru Interview below...

"This painting showcases the transition from the old school to the new school. As a traditional painter now, I no longer use spray-paint in my work which is evident with the skull and fat caps on the ground and having the bird on the skull is sort of a new rebirth of what I do now. These collaborations are a rebirth of Risky and I coming back and working together again after 20 years of perfecting our skills and putting it back together again like we once did in high school." - Nathan Ota

Old School New School is 16 x 20 Archival Pigment Print on 330gsm Fine Art Paper and comes as signed numbered edition of 50 by both artists

Help Saber Defend The Arts Skywriting Campaign Donation DefendTheArts

No comments:
Details from Saber:

Mitt Romneyhas stated that he would eliminate funding for The National Endowment for the Arts, PBS, and NPR if elected. This extreme conservative has no appreciation for the arts or American culture, despite the fact that creative people are the backbone of this country. It’s time to fight back and prevent these publicly funded and uniquely American organizations from being eliminated. To do this, I’m going to use the same tactic that I used last year (http://bit.ly/pFIuFX) that successfully generated much press and attention in both the real and internet worlds: BY TAKING OVER THE SKIES.

*Donations can be made a several different amounts. Every Donation Will Receive The Two “Thank you for your participation” Gifts.
-Special, Hand Signed, “Limited Time Only” Open Edition Giclee Print On 8.5″x11″ Archival Paper Titled “#DefendTheArts”, That Will Only Be Available From Now Till Friday September 21st At Midnight

Handmade, “#DefendTheArts” Ribbon Pin, As A Symbol Of Your Participation In The  Campaign.

*For over an hour, a fleet of skywriters will circle a major US city (or cities, depending on the amount raised), using 250 characters to create provocative statements that are visible from 20+ miles away. By incorporating social media like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, I will generate global attention and direct personal involvement from supporters of the Arts, at all levels. The more money that is generated the more I can extend this project to other cities.

*I NEED YOUR HELP to hire the fleet and document the taking over of the American skies. Don’t let Mitt Romney eliminate these programs that help define our American cultural experience and that are vital to our country’s future. #DefendTheArts
Here are just a few statistics and bullet points about  Arts impact on society.
1.Stronger communities . . . University of Pennsylvania researchers have demonstrated that a high concentration of the arts in a city leads to higher civic engagement, more social cohesion, higher child welfare, and lower poverty rates. A vibrant arts community ensures that young people are not left to be raised solely in a pop culture and tabloid marketplace.
2.Arts are an Industry . . . Arts organizations are responsible businesses, employers, and consumers. Nonprofit arts organizations generate $135 billion in economic activity annually, supporting 4.1 million jobs and generating $22.3 billion in government revenue. Investment in the arts supports jobs, generates tax revenues, promotes tourism, and advances our creativity-based economy.
3.Arts are an export industry . . . U.S. exports of arts goods (e.g., movies, paintings, jewelry) grew to $64 billion in 2010, while imports were just $23 billion—a $41 billion arts trade surplus in 2010.

SABER Union Jack Lino Prints

No comments:

From Saber :

To be straightforward, purchasing these gilded Union Flag Lino prints will help me get a surgery I need immediately. You won’t go bankrupt in the United Kingdom over getting sick but in the good old U.S. of A, get sick and be treated like a third-class citizen. Due to some current circumstances, it seemed appropriate for me to dive into the Union Jack as opposed to the U.S. Flag considering the U.K takes care of its citizens through the NHS. I had fun creating these prints because I discovered the complexity of the basic math process to achieve a proper Union Flag. My art is what keeps me alive and moving, but I am one of the lucky ones…

Available in the online store

Saber has reduced the price on the set of prints if you paid full price last week you will be getting a refund
