The Collectors Cache Vintage Rock Posters From 1xRUN

No comments:

Over the years the folks at 1xRUN have met quite a few collectors that share the same passion for subculture and collecting. These passions culminate for the 1xRUN by collecting specifics artist's, iconography and imagery that shapes each of our collections. On the rare occasion they’re asked to offer vintage items on the site, and they have from time to time. Well last week profoundly changed the lives of 1xRUN and they’re excited to share with you the Collector's Cache.

When I traveled to 1xRUN this past weekend to catch up with Eddie Colla and the guys, I saw they had this big table set up that was filled with rock posters. I looked through them a little and was just blown away at the history sitting there. I asked Jesse about 4 times where did these come from ? I was able to sit down with them to get the scoop on this new collection they’re releasing.
ITRP: Where did you get all of these vintage rock posters?

1xRUN: We’ve been in talks with several collectors that have asked us if we would be down to offer their collections on 1xRUN. We’re all huge fans and collectors ourselves so we thought it would be cool to start offering collections of rare finds that people have amased over the past 20 or so years.

ITRP: What is in this first collection you will be offering?

1xRUN: First off there are some classic Coop and Kozik concert and art prints. Most of them are signed and numbered so that is pretty dope. Some of these gems have been on our personal radar for collecting so I’m sure several will make it into our personal flat files.

ITRP: What should collectors be looking for as you release different collections.
1xRUN: This is just the tip of the iceberg, we’ve really fell into a major collection and the first few releases are just the beginning. 2016 just may go down in the history books for rock and fine art print collectors as we have exclusive access to offer this collection to 1xRUN members.

Coop Original Cover Art for MXPX "Life In General" For Sale

No comments:

Here is how the art ended up being used for the album

I think most of us as some point look in our flat files and and exclaim damn I got too much stuff. You either buy more flat files if you have the room or you sell it. John Harris of Beyond the Pale is in that position now, he wants to unload some stuff and it is some really good stuff. How about some original art from the legendary COOP plus it's colored as well.

John purchased them directly from Coop on a visit to his home in 1997. Full color art like from COOP is super rare and seldom comes up on the market.

It is the front & back album cover art for MXPX “ Life In General” November 1996.

Original full color hand drawn & inked by COOP.

Front cover art: “The Jock & punk”

Back cover art. “Teacher & punk” 18 x 17 1/2 inches. Hand drawn & colored art by COOP 1996.

Off white 100lb stippled mat art card.

Bring Back the Arcade! Custom Pinball Art Show by Tilt Warning Customs — Kickstarter

No comments:

Tilt Warning Customs are building an entirely custom classic pinball arcade. All analog everything. Hand painted, hand built, hands on. Come play!

Details on their Kickstarter Project

OUR GOAL
We're dedicated to building an entirely custom classic pinball arcade art installation starting with five mechanically restored vintage 1970s pinball machines featuring art packages reimagined by some of the most influential and respected counter pop culture artists working in the game today.  We aim to recreate the aura of those public game rooms that ruled the underground of yesteryear, the analog era, retrofit with modern styles relevant to the minds of a new generation.  We're here to bring back the arcade.
We'll first open to the public at the FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco, CA, USA in late Summer/early Fall of 2014, and from there we'll either travel the exhibit to other associated galleries around the world, or choose to scale up to a larger venue in SF with more artists, building upon our success there.

WHY PINBALL?
Because every modern day creature comfort has an analog electro-mechanical ancestor, and in terms of the video game, pinball is that, the grandfather clock of the arcade, the first machine that ever kept score for you. Before pixels were being pumped in and fired through your eyeballs directly on into your brains by tvs and pc monitors, swinging flippers at a silver ball trapped in a world behind a sheet of glass was as good as gaming got. High technology, 1975, never forget. Know your roots.

With this respect for history in our hearts, we choose to use pinball as our medium, our canvas, an homage in honor.

Lil’ Mort COOP Figure Release Party 10/1 at Munky King

No comments:

Renowned artist COOP teams up with Munky King to drop his coveted first vinyl toy, LIL’MORT!

The piece takes its name from the French phrase, “Le Petit Mort”, a metaphor for the spiritual release one experiences from orgasm. COOP is considered one of the pioneers of the Pop Surrealist movement, and now his vision is available as a limited edition vinyl.

The Clear version is exclusive to Munky King and only 100 were made. The black one has an edition of 400. I got the Red GID one from 3D RETRO and it friggin kills. It really is badass.

Munky King will be putting theirs up for sale some time tomorrow night online. Or if you are at the show you can buy them there.
