The Who James Eads Poster Release

No comments:

The Who released their highly acclaimed rock opera Tommy in May of 1969 that was supported by a massive tour throughout North America and Europe. The Tommy Tour came to its conclusion 50 years ago, December 18, 1970, at The Roundhouse in London (fun fact: opening for the band that evening was a young musician named Elton John). It was a night of celebration for the band, who were in extra good spirits that evening.

To commemorate this historic show, James R. Eads created a beautiful print setting the scene of a wintery yet glowing city of London, the band's energy lighting the city through their music during the holiday season.

James Eads has a new poster for Dave Matthews Band.
It's always fun to create Saratoga Springs pieces inspired by my time living there. I lived in the Algonquin building on Broadway and I remember sitting on my windowsill watching people up and down broadway all day during the summers. So this piece is a tribute to that beautifully unique time capsule of a town.

James Eads had some fun in the studio last week with split fountain screenprints! This is an image he created a while back, it's about the idea of slowly becoming someone as you start to spend more and more time together. Who you are in the relationship and who you are when you are alone can sometimes feel like two different people. And who you are together can really turn into something beautiful too.

“Turning into You” is a 16” x 20” split fountain screenprint on Neenah Epic Black paper with hand embellished details and deckled edges. The print is available in five different variants, each in very small editions of 13.

You can view all five variants in the shop now, before the drop on Wednesday, January 31st at 3PM Pacific Time

James Eads Dream Tracks EP Prints Release

No comments:

James Eads spent several months in 2017 working on this series of prints called "Dream Tracks". Inspired by his slipping sleep and the time he has spent in dreamworld, the idea behind this collection was to create a group of images that could be considered a visual EP album. The five limited edition screenprints are housed in a traditional two-fold record jacket with accompanying liner notes.

The liner notes are five poems that he wrote based on what things come to us and what we may find when we are somewhere in between drifting through dreams.

Each print in the "Dream Tracks EP" is a 12" x 12" seven color screenprint printed in a limited edition. Prints will be available individually but if purchased as a set, the five prints come housed in a custom designed two-fold record jacket printed with liner notes for each piece on the inside of the jacket. Record Jackets are only available with the full set of five prints. There will only be 300 full sets in circulation.

Each print will be available in a white paper edition of 125 as well as in smaller foil editions. If bought as a set prints will have matching numbers.

This entire project was commissioned by Posters 4 People and will be available exclusively through their online shop on Thursday January 11th at 11am PST.

James Eads And PangeaSeed Mobulas in Dreamland Print Release

No comments:

For World Oceans Day (June 8), PangeaSeed is pleased to announce the latest print of the ongoing Sea of Change: The Year of Living Dangerously - Vol. 3 print suite by guest artist James Eads (USA). The highlighted species of this edition is the threatened Mobula Ray aka Devil Ray (Myliobatidae).

James Eads
Title: "Mobulas in Dreamland"
16x20 inches 7 color screen print on holographic rainbow foil paper signed/numbered
Edition of 75

Available Thursday, June 8, 2017, 12 pm PST at https://shop.pangeaseed.co/

Artist statement:
Mobula Rays are otherworldly creatures that gracefully glide through the water and fly through the air. For this piece, I wanted to blur the lines between the sea and the sky and create an in between dream world for the rays to exist in. There is something beautiful about how when they travel in groups they take on a larger abstract form, morphing to create a single flowing entity. I chose a monochromatic palette for this piece to represent their elusive nature but also to call attention to their fragility. When something fits so well into its environment that it is hard to notice, it becomes even more difficult to notice once it is gone. The rainbow foil paper was chosen to act as a reminder that while they are hard to see they are very much there and when the light catches right the Mobula rays shimmer in unison speaking towards the beauty and wonder of the ocean world below.
