On November 17th, Ron Zarkin fell about 15 foot onto his back. Ron suffered a severe spinal cord injury leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Ron is currently at a spine rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI.

We have always looked to artist Ron Zakrin for inspiration, and that’s what makes this situation so difficult and one that we felt we needed to share with all of our collectors. Last November, Ron Zakrin fell from the second floor of his studio and shattered a vertebrae. I went to the hospital to visit Ron after his surgery and he was in really high spirits and was starting to gain movement back in his feet. He’s back home with his brother now, and they need some help with building a ramp and updating the bathroom to help make Ron’s recovery as pleasant as possible.
Detroit’s art community has seen Ron’s work for years with his innovative exhibitions, electronic music releases, as well as his performances under the moniker Goudron. Back in 2009 we hosted our first exhibition with Ron Zakrin at our first gallery 323East, he was one of the first artists we featured on 1xRUN, and we have worked together on tons of projects and have been inspired by Ron’s personality and the storylines he weaves across his creative outlets. Ron’s prints and originals have been collected by hundreds of 1xRUN collectors around the world, and we know you feel his inspiration, and love the unique mix of storylines found throughout his art. So we wanted to reach out and let you know that someone in the 1xRUN Family is in need.
Ron’s family has created this GoFundMe campaign to help with his recovery, and we wanted to share it with all of you. We would hope someone would do the same for us if we were facing the same adversities.
