Join Tom Husman In Beating Cancer

No comments:

If you're a Pearl Jam fan and been to a concert in the last 10 years you more than likely bought something from Tom or saw him as he helped sell merchandise for the band at the concerts.

But now he needs your help, Tom was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer in October 2018. By the time he was diagnosed, the cancer had already spread to his spine (causing excruciating back pain), his liver, and his left femur. The tumor on his femur was so large that it had to be surgically removed, and part of his bone was replaced with a metal rod to hold his leg together. Tom is currently undergoing a rigorous chemotherapy program, that has followed radiation treatments for the tumors on his spine and femur.

You can read more and donate at the Go Fund Me Page CLICK HERE his friend started.

Help Ron Zakrin’s Recovery From Spinal Injury

No comments:

On November 17th, Ron Zarkin fell about 15 foot onto his back. Ron suffered a severe spinal cord injury leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Ron is currently at a spine rehabilitation Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI.

Details from 1xRUN:

We have always looked to artist Ron Zakrin for inspiration, and that’s what makes this situation so difficult and one that we felt we needed to share with all of our collectors. Last November, Ron Zakrin fell from the second floor of his studio and shattered a vertebrae. I went to the hospital to visit Ron after his surgery and he was in really high spirits and was starting to gain movement back in his feet. He’s back home with his brother now, and they need some help with building a ramp and updating the bathroom to help make Ron’s recovery as pleasant as possible.

Detroit’s art community has seen Ron’s work for years with his innovative exhibitions, electronic music releases, as well as his performances under the moniker Goudron. Back in 2009 we hosted our first exhibition with Ron Zakrin at our first gallery 323East, he was one of the first artists we featured on 1xRUN, and we have worked together on tons of projects and have been inspired by Ron’s personality and the storylines he weaves across his creative outlets. Ron’s prints and originals have been collected by hundreds of 1xRUN collectors around the world, and we know you feel his inspiration, and love the unique mix of storylines found throughout his art. So we wanted to reach out and let you know that someone in the 1xRUN Family is in need.

Ron’s family has created this GoFundMe campaign to help with his recovery, and we wanted to share it with all of you. We would hope someone would do the same for us if we were facing the same adversities.

Armando Chainsawhands Soldier of Love Charity Print Release

2 comments:

February is Heart Awareness Month and since Armando Chainsawhands has had personal experiences with children born with congenital heart defects (approximately 1 in every 100 children will be born with a heart defect) and is affected with one himself, he wanted to donate to a charity involved with research or curing heart-related illnesses and defects.

Which led him to the International Children's Heart Foundation, whose mission is "to bring the skills, technology and knowledge to cure and care for children with congenital heart disease in developing nations. ICHF does this regardless of country of origin, race, religion or gender. Our goal is to make the need for ICHF obsolete. We work toward this goal through our medical mission trips, where we operate on children and educate local healthcare professionals."

For Armando's latest print he wanted to try to help as many people as possible, so the print will go on sale Thursday February 8 at noon CST and last until Wednesday, February 14 at noon CST. However many prints are sold during that time period will determine the edition size of the run. ALL proceeds to benefit the ICHF. The print itself is a 18" x 24" two color screen print on 100lb white Cougar cover stock with a gloss layer screen printed over the heart and other bits of color to really make it stand out.

The print will cost $50 and will be available at http://www.armandochainsawhands.com/soldier-of-love-1.html.

Joey Feldman Gord Downie Benefit Print

No comments:

Some time in the early 1990's a friend turned me onto a band from Canada called the The Tragically Hip. Led by the writing of Gord Downie who was the lead singer, the songs would take you on magical journey some literally some figuratively. The music was always straight up rock n roll, honest and from the heart. Seeing The Hip live was always a moving experience that took the songs to a new level, the music was front and center without a huge pyro show or other distractions. They were a T-shirts and jeans act in an age of teased hair and spandex. Their sound was an improbable roar that left mouths agape. I have seen them so many times over the years I dont even know the number. From huge arena's to a club where Gord and the band was an arm length away. The Hip fans loved the band and the band loved it's fans more than any other.

On May 24 2016 it was revealed that Gord had terminal brain cancer, glioblastoma. The band set out on a 15 city tour of Canada not wanting to call it a farewell tour but Gord wanted to give something back to the fans even though he was fighting for his life. The final show was August 26 2016 in Kingston, ON their hometown.

On October 17, 2017 Gordon Downie passed away from the cancer. Even as the cancer was slowly taking his life Gord continued to make music. His final solo double-album titled Introduce Yerself, it was released posthumously on October 27, 2017. The album contains 23 songs each about someone in his life.

Since his passing Joey Feldman's Canadian fans have been asking for tribute art of some kind. And Joey has created a wonderful piece of art with all the proceeds going to one of Gord's many causes.

It is an Archival Fine art giclee print on Somerset velvet stock 255gsm.
12" x 16"
Embossed and signed by the artist.
This is timed release final number to be determined at end of sale.
100 % of sales will go to the Gord Downie Chanie Wenjack fund. < Click to learn more.

This will be on sale until Sunday night 9pm PDT today.

Buy it at Joey's new store  https://store.joeyfeldman.com/

Learn more about Chanie Wenjack at www.secretpath.ca

Buy Gord's music at www.gorddownie.com

I truly feel privileged and fortunate to have seen Gord and the band live, I encourage you to check out their music, Good bye Gord and thank you.

Go Gray in May and Rock the House with Online Auction to Benefit Brain Tumor Research

No comments:

Make Cancer a No Brainer, an online auction to benefit brain tumor research, announced their 3rd annual auction will take place in partnership with Oligo Nation, the only non-profit focused on translational research for oligodendroglioma brain cancer, from May 22-31, 2016 at www.nobrainerauction.com.

The Make Cancer a No Brainer online auction—featuring exclusive music and entertainment items and experiences—was started in 2015 by Brad Mastrine, whose wife Mindy was diagnosed with two Oligo brain tumors in 2012 just weeks before her 40th birthday. With more than 700,000 people in the U.S. living with brain tumors today and another 70,000 that will be diagnosed this year, the Mastrine family was shocked at how little funding there is for brain tumor research. What started as a grassroots campaign of a family wanting to make a difference has blossomed into a recurring, must-attend online event has raised more than $30,000 for research so far.

“Mindy’s diagnosis came with no warning signs and while after more than a year and a half of treatment she was doing well, as a husband and father of three young children, I couldn’t sit back and wait,” shared Brad Mastrine, founder of Make Cancer a No Brainer. “Brain cancer is far from rare and has one of the lowest long-term survival rates of all cancers. Five years ago there was no funding for medical research on Oligo brain cancer. By partnering with Oligo Nation we know that more than 95% of funds raised through the Make Cancer a No Brainer Auction will go directly to research.”

A partial list of items available during the auction include:
Concert tickets and/or VIP packages to Dave Matthews Band, Dead & Company, Bob Dylan, Jane’s Addiction, Twenty One Pilots, Phish, Seal, Country Jam USA, Chris Stapleton, The Brooklyn Bowl Ultimate Concert Experience package.

Meet & Greet packages with Bonnie Raitt, Big & Rich, Michael Franti & Spearhead

Signed merchandise from Phish, Jack Johnson, Alabama Shakes, The Avett Brothers, String Cheese Incident, Drive-By Truckers

The auction will be available at www.nobrainerauction.com from May 22-31. For updates on the auction, join the Make Cancer a No Brainer on Facebook page and support Brain Cancer awareness month with #GoGrayInMay.

If you would like to help in our effort to find a cure for brain cancer, you can also donate online HERE.

Make Cancer A No Brainer Auction-Help In The Fight Against Brain Tumors

No comments:

Brad Mastrine has been around the poster & music world a long time. Many of you know him but don't his story. Please take the time to read this:

My wife Mindy was diagnosed with 2 brain tumors in August 2012, weeks before her 40th birthday. No warning signs - just woke up to her having a grand mal seizure at 4am. Again, no warning signs, no history - totally out of the blue. Two craniotomies and 17 months of chemo later and she's doing well. Thank God! But the tumors will come back... The good news is that we're in a lull - our new normal for awhile. But as a husband and father, I can't idly sit waiting for the MRI scans to show growth. I was shocked at how little funding brain tumor research receives each year even though it’s the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children under age 20 and in males ages 20-39.

So I tapped my music friends and colleagues and have put together a pretty impressive auction IMHO and named it Make Cancer a No Brainer. And I need help spreading the word socially. http://www.nobrainerauction.com
So please take a look at the auction, bid if you like, forward to others who may be interested. Brad collected a wide variety of items to appeal to a broad audience.

Support the Make Cancer a No Brainer auction to benefit brain tumor research.

Tickets: Wilco, Dave Matthews Band, Ryan Adams, Avett Brothers, Imagine Dragons, The Dead

Signed posters and merchandise: Pearl Jam, Phish, String Cheese Incident, Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, Galactic, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, The Decemberists and more.

Christopher Pebley aka Trigz Tattoo & Graffiti Artist Benefit

No comments:

Trigz, a famed body piercing artist and tattoo artist whose distinctively tattooed face was seen in magazines and music videos, was fatally shot in North Hollywood last Thursday night.

The actor, model and member of the renowned Seventh Letter graffiti artist crew reportedly got into an altercation at or near a tattoo parlor when gunfire erupted.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department the attack happened about 5:50 p.m. at Victory and Laurel Canyon boulevards at the Black Derby Smoke Shop when a stranger made a passing remark that upset Pebley. The two men came to blows, and after about 30 seconds the fight spilled out onto the sidewalk and ended with the 'rude' smoke shop customer shooting the tattoo artist outside.

The shooter was described only as a man in his 30s who possibly got away in a white, early '90s Honda Accord, according to the LAPD.

Pebley had worked on his screen career appearing in movies including SWAT and music videos for a variety of artists including Mobb Deep, Travis Barker, Blink 182, Yelawolf, Aerosmith, Taylor Swift. He had also appeared in documentaries aired on the National Geographic channel.

Two funds have been set up to help the family

Dave Hunter Benefit Fund Raiser Poster Auction

No comments:

A couple of guys over at ExpressoBeans.com Forum have put together a little auction on behalf of Dave Hunter, poster artist and screenprinter extraordinaire, aka gammalyte, who many on this forum have known and admired for years. As it turns out, Mr. Hunter has encountered a series of unfortunate situations over the last year that have prevented him from creating enough art to sustain a living. Starting with a lower spinal injury in 2012 to suffering from whiplash from a car accident while on his way to pick up screen print supplies in early April, his physical ability to create and produce has been minimal. Since then, Dave's expenses have increased exponentially as a result of spending considerable time in international court in Europe over the past few months in attempts to secure the return of his beloved 9-year old daughter Jasmine to the US, who was wrongfully removed from this country in spite of a pre-existing shared custody court ruling

This auction is an opportunity for the EB community to help Dave out by bidding on a number of posters, art prints, OG’s, unique variants, doodles and other assorted goodies (maybe even a movie poster) donated by artists, EB members and folks in the art and music industry who have contributed generously to help a good guy out. The donors will be recognized by name below along with the items they have donated, unless they requested anonymity.

Here’s how the auction works (There are more details but this is the basics):

1. The auction starts as soon as the first item is posted below. The auction for all items will end Sunday, September 1st, with the end time to be determined after 8:00pm Eastern time when no bids are posted for a consecutive 15 minute period. If a bid is made on ANY item between 8:00pm and 8:15pm on 9/1, the entire auction will remain open for 15 additional minutes, etc. etc. This will give everyone a last chance to bid on ANY poster while the bidding remains open. Regardless how long it takes after 10:00pm on September 2nd to have a consecutive 15 minute period with no bids, the auction plays on.

There is a lot of good stuff up already, rare stuff from Emek, Zoltron, Chuck Sperry, original art from James Flames, Marq Spusta and many others with new stuff being added every day. If you are not a member dont worry it takes just a few minutes to sign up

If you just want to donate money to Dave you can by paypal to gammalyte at gmail.com

HERE is the thread with the details

The Dark Knight Rises benefits for Aurora Colorado shooting victims

1 comment:
When something bad happens the first people to lend a hand to help is always the art community. I came across two such causes to help those involved in the Aurora shooting.

Artist Jeff Leiboff has created a specially designed t-shirt that will help raise money and awareness for the victims of the tragic shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Every single penny of profit will be donated to those left in need after the horrid Batman massacre. EVERY SINGLE PENNY of profit (there is NO admin costs involved etc) will be donated to help those hurt in the tragedy of Aurora.

ComicsPriceGuide, who has teamed up with Jeff Leiboff (artist) and Bellmar Thread & Ink (printing company) will sell the shirts for $20 each and shipping is free to those who live in the United States.

Buy the shirt HERE

Sterling, VA based digital artist Joe Vetoe created a special limited edition Dark Knight Rises print and is donating 100% of the proceeds to the Aurora Victim Relief Fund. He has a special discount code to give you 20% off the purchase, but will still donate the entire amount (yes, that means, he’s making up the difference out of his own pocket). A great cause and some great art you should support.
