Join Tom Husman In Beating Cancer

No comments:

If you're a Pearl Jam fan and been to a concert in the last 10 years you more than likely bought something from Tom or saw him as he helped sell merchandise for the band at the concerts.

But now he needs your help, Tom was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer in October 2018. By the time he was diagnosed, the cancer had already spread to his spine (causing excruciating back pain), his liver, and his left femur. The tumor on his femur was so large that it had to be surgically removed, and part of his bone was replaced with a metal rod to hold his leg together. Tom is currently undergoing a rigorous chemotherapy program, that has followed radiation treatments for the tumors on his spine and femur.

You can read more and donate at the Go Fund Me Page CLICK HERE his friend started.

To help out I'm selling 14 of these Stick Man spray painted stencils on lava foil I painted. All the money from the sales will be donated to him. 5 random orders will also receive a small handbill as well.

These are on sale now at https://insidetheposter.com/collections/pearl-jam/products/stick-man-foilz-hand-painted-multiples-art-hpm-2019

Good Bye Dave Hunter

1 comment:

I found out tonight artist Dave Hunter passed away. He was a great talent, great man and someone I wished I had a chance to meet in this life. I'm a loss for words so just going to repost what Emek mentioned on facebook. He went through so much and fought so hard to get his daughter back only to go through this ordeal is just heartbreaking.

RIP to Dave Hunter- a fellow poster artist and good guy. Much too young. You will be missed.
Dave succumbed to a very fast acting brain cancer. Our hearts go out to his daughter, Jasmine, his girlfriend, Megan Watters, his brother, Chris, and the rest of the Hunter family.

Please Help Dave Hunter Fight Brain Cancer

No comments:

Dave Hunter is a great artist and great person that many of you know. Some of you may remember his fight and ordeal to get his daughter back from Europe a couple of years ago. Now Dave is in a fight for his life and with our help will prevail. Thanks to my buddy Wayne for giving me the heads up on this.

Here is the info from his fund raising page.

Many of you know by now that Dave Hunter is battling that beast known as brain cancer. He was diagnosed in October 2016 and was instantly caught up in the whirlwind of surgery, radiation and repeated rounds of chemotherapy.

Dave is a devoted single father and is strong and determined to beat this terrible thing so he can be around for years to see his daughter grow into adulthood.

While so many of you beautiful people have already reached out with your time and resources, others have asked how the best way to donate money is, so we decided to set this up on Dave's behalf. All funds will go towards Dave's medical, living and mounting legal expenses so that he can focus on healing his brain and getting back to his creative center.

All prayers, healing energies and good vibes welcome!

You can go to this PAGE HERE to Donate

You can also go to Dave Hunter's Website HERE and buy a poster to help as well.

Go Gray in May and Rock the House with Online Auction to Benefit Brain Tumor Research

No comments:

Make Cancer a No Brainer, an online auction to benefit brain tumor research, announced their 3rd annual auction will take place in partnership with Oligo Nation, the only non-profit focused on translational research for oligodendroglioma brain cancer, from May 22-31, 2016 at www.nobrainerauction.com.

The Make Cancer a No Brainer online auction—featuring exclusive music and entertainment items and experiences—was started in 2015 by Brad Mastrine, whose wife Mindy was diagnosed with two Oligo brain tumors in 2012 just weeks before her 40th birthday. With more than 700,000 people in the U.S. living with brain tumors today and another 70,000 that will be diagnosed this year, the Mastrine family was shocked at how little funding there is for brain tumor research. What started as a grassroots campaign of a family wanting to make a difference has blossomed into a recurring, must-attend online event has raised more than $30,000 for research so far.

“Mindy’s diagnosis came with no warning signs and while after more than a year and a half of treatment she was doing well, as a husband and father of three young children, I couldn’t sit back and wait,” shared Brad Mastrine, founder of Make Cancer a No Brainer. “Brain cancer is far from rare and has one of the lowest long-term survival rates of all cancers. Five years ago there was no funding for medical research on Oligo brain cancer. By partnering with Oligo Nation we know that more than 95% of funds raised through the Make Cancer a No Brainer Auction will go directly to research.”

A partial list of items available during the auction include:
Concert tickets and/or VIP packages to Dave Matthews Band, Dead & Company, Bob Dylan, Jane’s Addiction, Twenty One Pilots, Phish, Seal, Country Jam USA, Chris Stapleton, The Brooklyn Bowl Ultimate Concert Experience package.

Meet & Greet packages with Bonnie Raitt, Big & Rich, Michael Franti & Spearhead

Signed merchandise from Phish, Jack Johnson, Alabama Shakes, The Avett Brothers, String Cheese Incident, Drive-By Truckers

The auction will be available at www.nobrainerauction.com from May 22-31. For updates on the auction, join the Make Cancer a No Brainer on Facebook page and support Brain Cancer awareness month with #GoGrayInMay.

If you would like to help in our effort to find a cure for brain cancer, you can also donate online HERE.

Thank You & Good Bye David Bowie

1 comment:

From Jermaine Rogers

People like David Bowie don't come along very often and have the power to touch our lives in so many ways. He has influenced music, fashion, art, design and countless other parts of our daily lives.

On Friday he released his last album Blackstar, it was his 69th birthday. Consciously I never knew when his birthday was. Late last night when I found out David has passed away and all the talk about his life started I realized something else. 7 years ago on January 8 I started Inside the Rock Poster, it was not a planned event on his birthday but just one of those weird happy coincidences that happen in life and now mean so much more.

I have always been a fan of his music, but my favorite album is Earthling it was a perfect mix of rock and industrial music.

Back in 1995 David toured with Nine Inch Nails on what they called The Outside Tour. What an incredible pairing hell yeah I was going. To this day it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. During the tour, as Nine Inch Nails reached the conclusion of their performance, the two bands played together with both Nine Inch Nails and Bowie and his band performing "Subterraneans", "Hallo Spaceboy" and "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)", followed by two Nine Inch Nails songs "Reptile" and "Hurt" after which Bowie continued with his own set alone. There was no break between the bands, David's band came out and members of NIN quietly left the stage and soon it was just Trent Reznor and Bowie's band, then just Bowie's band and the show never stopped.

Brian Eno has revealed that he received an email from David Bowie recently in which "he was saying goodbye".

In a statement, Eno said: "David's death came as a complete surprise, as did nearly everything else about him. I feel a huge gap now. We knew each other for over 40 years, in a friendship that was always tinged by echoes of [comic characters] Pete and Dud.

"Over the last few years – with him living in New York and me in London – our connection was by email. We signed off with invented names: some of his were 'mr showbiz', 'milton keynes', 'rhoda borrocks' and 'the duke of ear'.

"I received an email from him seven days ago. It was as funny as always, and as surreal, looping through word games and allusions and all the usual stuff we did. It ended with this sentence: 'Thank you for our good times, brian. they will never rot'. And it was signed 'Dawn'. I realise now he was saying goodbye."

Eno also revealed that the pair had considered working together again. "About a year ago we started talking about Outside, the last album we worked on together. We both liked that album a lot and felt that it had fallen through the cracks. We talked about revisiting it, taking it somewhere new. I was looking forward to that."
Thank you to Van Spillman for helping create the header image as a tribute to David Bowie. Check out his work  http://www.designbyhumans.com/shop/vansparrow

Thank you David Bowie for so much great music and being an inspiration and influence to so many artists in so many mediums. You will live on.

Make Cancer a No Brainer Charity Auction

1 comment:

Brad Mastrine's (who some of you may remember ran The Faded Line) wife Mindy was diagnosed with 2 brain tumors in August 2012, weeks before her 40th birthday. No warning signs - he just woke up to her having a grand mal seizure at 4am. Again, no warning signs, no history - totally out of the blue. Two craniotomies and 17 months of chemo later and she's doing well! But the tumors will come back... The good news is that they're in a lull - a new normal for awhile. But as a husband and father, he can't idly sit waiting for the MRI scans to show growth. Brad was shocked at how little funding brain tumor research receives each year even though it’s the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children under age 20 and in males ages 20-39.

So Brad tapped his music friends and colleagues and have put together a pretty impressive auction and named it Make Cancer a No Brainer. And he needs everyones help spreading the word socially. http://www.nobrainerauction.com

Some highlights:
-Phish Spusta 2010 signed by Marq and Phish
-Panic en la Playa gold uncut variant by Jeff Wood
-Coachella '14 sunset foil from Emek

Pair of tickets to:
-Miami: Phish 1/3/15
-Denver: Pearl Jam, Usher, Fleetwood Mac, Black Keys, Widespread Panic (3-day passes), String Cheese NYE VIPs, STS9 NYE, The Motet Halloween
-Las Vegas: KISS, Shania Twain

Instruments:
-Keith Urban signed guitar
-Preservation Hall Jazz Band signed tambourine
-J Mascis Fender Jazzmaster with signed poster
-PRS Guitar SE Mikael Akerfeldt SE electric guitar & case
and other signed posters and merch from My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Drive-By Truckers, Alabama Shakes and a bunch of others.

So please take a look at the auctions, bid if you like, forward to others who may be interested.

Fundraiser for Jonathan Reynolds Help Fight Cancer

No comments:

Alison Fujimoto contacted me the other day to help spread the word and help with her husband's (Jonathan) fight with cancer who is battling Stage IV rectal cancer. He was immediately dropped by his insurance (claimed a pre-existing condition) and bills have risen to over $100,000 in only four months of chemo treatments. He still has 1 more month to go before 5 weeks of radiation and then surgery to remove the primary tumor and mets in his liver.  Many artists and galleries have begun promoting his gofundme page at www.gofundme.com/forjonathan and are sending prints to auction on ebay to raise some money, and the fundraiser will begin today and will run until they have no more prints to list. They will be found here: An Auction for Jonathan Artists include Laurent Durieux, Eine, Fairey, Mau Mau, Ansin, Edmiston, and Faile. About 30 more prints will be posted as they become available in the next few weeks. Here is the the thread on ExpressoBeans for the prints to be auctioned off. Also the members on Daves Posters are listing items as well.

Tim Doyle has also thrown his support behind the effort as well.

Details from Tim

I’ve never met Alison, and most likely never will. I don’t know her, but she is a person in need. And that’s all that matters. 2013 has been very, very good to me and my family- while at the same time being very cruel to so many others. I want to pass on my good fortune to her and help out. And to do so, I am donating 100% of my cut of my print sales from the recent ‘Evolution’ exhibition in Chicago to Alison. I’ve instructed Brian Merel of the Merel Gallery that when the show closes, whatever funds that would have been going to me- to pass those on to Alison instead, in the form of a check. I’m not going to lecture in detail on the unfairness of our Health Care system here in the US, or how medical bills are the leading cause of bankruptcies any more than I just did in this sentence. But what I will say is- if you’ve had a good year, good fortune, or just want to pick up some art and feel good about it at the same time, buy something or donate directly.

So visit the Merel Gallery Website HERE and pick those prints up- get some good art and help out a good family in need.

Also- for the remainder of the year (through December 31st at midnight Central Time) 50% of all sales of my prints on the Nakatomi Site will also be donated to Alison. That means all the prints in the DOYLE SECTION HERE.

If you want to make a donation, but don’t like Tim's art (that’s okay, really) you can do that directly HERE, on Alison’s GoFundMe page.

There’s a lot more info on Alison’s gofundme page, do check it out.
