Joshua Budich Star Trek SDCC Poster Release

“TO BOLDLY GO” Screen print by Joshua Budich!

Nakatomi regular, Joshua Budich was invited to participated in the CBS Star Trek 50th Anniversary event at San Diego Comic Con this week, and Nakatomi is selling the limited edition Silkscreen print!

This epic 24×36 6-color hand-printed poster is limited to an edition of 500 prints worldwide- $50. NOTE- over half the edition is already spoken for through other commitments, so don’t sleep on it!

Nakatomi will also have an exclusive Iridescent Foil variant that was not present at the SDCC show! This super-fancy foil has a mirror-like iridescent finish, and really has to be seen in person! Foil edition of 66 (in honor of the 1966 debut of Trek!)- $80

DreamWorks Netflix Art Showcase for VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER At Hero Complex Gallery

DreamWorks Animation's newest series, Voltron Legendary Defender, which Hero Complex Gallery had the great pleasure to view in preparation of this Art Showcase, is smart, funny, and filled with an amazing cast of voice talents, premiering exclusively on Netflix June 10th.

In partnership with DreamWorks, HCG are pleased to announce their newest collaboration and next exhibition, DreamWorks Voltron Legendary Defender Art Showcase presented by Hero Complex Gallery.

The event will feature a wonderful mix of Production Artwork and All New Artwork by both HCG and DreamWorks Animation Artists and will give you a behind the scenes look at several pieces that were created in the development of the series.

The gallery show opening takes place on June 4th, from 11a-6p in Los Angeles, just one week before the series premieres on Netflix (series info here)

This hilarious send up of both Spaceballs and the classic 3-print set from Olly Moss is by the incomparable Joshua Budich! It is titled The Schwartz Awakens and even Olly Moss got a good laugh out of them and thought they were good.

Joshua Budich Rise to Meet Fate Print

Joshua Budich is debuting a brand-new print through Nakatomi- and it’ll be on sale HERE Thursday at 2pm CDT in the NAKATOMI store.

“Rise to Meet Fate” is a 12×24 hand-printed silkscreen print, with a regular edition numbered out of just 150 world wide- $40! Also available in a Foil and ultra-limited WOOD variant!

From Budich-

“My kids are my two little muses. Whenever I can create art for them, about something that they love and we share together as a family, I’m all about it. Like any parent of small children, we find ourselves as adults, watching way more cartoons than we ever thought we would. But, for me as a consumer of all things visual, taking a fresh look at many of the earlier Disney films has been a blast of inspiration.
For this piece, I took inspiration from an artist I only recently discovered after watching Sleeping Beauty with more mature eyes- Eyvind Earle. Earle was the artistic director for Sleeping Beauty, creating lush and incredibly beautiful environments that were uniquely his in style. I wanted to create an homage to his work, but marry it to one of my kids’ other loves, the work of Hayao Miyazaki.
This Earle/Miyazaki mashup is my humble tribute to two of my favorite artists.”

Tim Doyle x Joshua Budich Mad Max George Miller Poster For El Rey

EL REY Network, whose offices are literally on the same street as the Nakatomi Print Labs, has commissioned artists Tim Doyle and Joshua Budich to produce a print for their Director’s Chair series- this time featuring GEORGE MILLER!

From Doyle– “El Rey/Troublemaker Studios all around graphics/art guy, Kurt Volk, came to me a few months back about producing a series of prints for their upcoming Director’s Chair series. I personally was super-slammed with work, so I called on Josh Budich to handle the first couple of releases in the series. But when I saw that George Miller was next in line, I made sure I got my mitts on this one, and I was super-happy when Budich agreed to collaborate with me on the print! I drew the car and it’s passengers, and Josh KILLED that portrait of the man himself! This whole project was art directed by Robert Rodriguez, which is a weird honor to be getting notes from RR!”

Prints measure 18×24, and are in an edition of 350 worldwide! Prints are signed by Doyle, and a printed signature by Budich. Hand Numbered. Nakatomi will have a VERY LIMITED amount for sale- the bulk went to El Rey and George Miller himself!

Joshua Budich & Alexander Iaccarino RWBY Print Release

This week marks the release of Rooster Teeth's last two RWBY prints from artists Joshua Budich and Alexander Iaccarino. In the interest of people being able to get their prints before Christmas Rooster Teeth thought they'd go out with a bang.

Here’s what Josh had to say about his print.

“Getting a chance to work on something entirely new to me, like Rooster Teeth's "RWBY" series, is always a treat for me. When trying to find an original angle for depicting the pop culture lineup of usual suspects has been exhausted, an opp like this is a very welcome change. This is especially true when the content is as good as RWBY! I decided to tackle the most central-character in this first piece, "Ruby Rose", but my heart belongs to "Nora". Love me a redhead. BOOP!”

And here’s what Alexander had to say about his print.

"I was extremely excited to work with the Rooster Teeth RWBY team on this project. The studio was very encouraging and assured in my vision after viewing my extensive body of work pertaining to anime influences. A body of work in which RWBY fit right in. This piece encapsulates the epic scale of RWBY's origins. I decided to portray the team coming together as a group, facing the many enemies and creatures from season 1. Present and dangerous are the Grimm, White Fang, and Cinder Fall ominously lurking in the shadows. The artwork is much like the show; powerful heroines who stand strong surround by insurmountable odds "

Joshua Budich Return of the Jedi Poster Release
