Aaron Horkey & James Jean Mangchi Prints

No comments:

David Choe had a couple of close friends Aaron Horkey and James Jean create prints for his Mangchi project. Each print is Offset lithography on premium 100lb Cover Stock Paper and printed by 8 color Heidelberg Offset Press. Embossed with 'Mangchi' Logo for Authenticity, Print size: 18 × 24 inches. Quantity: Open Edition

David Choe on the art :
"There's nothing mysterious about me, I talk about my entire life I'm completely transparent - however these two elusive men are shrouded in mystery - the great James Jean and Aaron Horkey, are 2 of the greatest artists in the world, I bow down to their talent and creativity, it is humbling - they both, in their own style and way, create art that seems it's made with a hand not of this earth, they've tapped into some mystical matrix mind bending new world building shit. So to the best of the best I laid out the homework assignment. At almost 40, I am pushing myself together with the whole mangchi crew to create music to think, fuck, fight, nap, cuddle and dance to, whether you agree with me or not I pushed myself way beyond my limits and I created with mangchi, the greatest music on earth, I believe that, we send the message of love, chaos and judging/no judging to bring people together- so I asked james and Aaron to do the same, you're already the best, now push yourself to create the best art you've ever created in your life, it only makes sense that the greatest band in the universe should have the greatest art in the universe to visualize, represent and capture the imaginations of the whole earth - we are just the messengers spreading the message of love, creativity and fucking shit up through the vessels of art, music and dance motherfucker dance. I am beyond proud, honored and excited to present to you the art of James Jean and Aaron Horkey, creating the best shit they've ever created for mangchi ! - so please enjoy and be inspired" - David Choe

Facebook artist David Choe endures New York media blitz see how he did it in animation

No comments:

David Choe — the graffiti artist who stands to make more than US$200 million from the Facebook IPO after choosing stock options over cash when asked to paint a mural in the company's first offices — was in New York City this week to meet with the media. He sat down with such heavyweights as Howard Stern, Barbara Walters on ABC's Nightline — and of course ... Next Media Animation.

Choe quickly became disillusioned by the mainstream press, passing up offers to speak with the New York Times and Wall Street Journal. He instead chose to meet exclusively with staff at NMA's New York office. Not trusting anyone else to tell his story, David collaborated with us on this animation about his time spent in the city.

Ever the affable renegade, Choe says he'll disappear for the next few months to stay out of the sudden and intense spotlight. But should something happen to him per chance, NMA will be sure to report on it.

No comments:

This is pretty funny so the details are in David Choe's words:

2) Apology or confessional letter

4) Proof of something that shows you ever loved someone

Will be rewarded with a print of YELLOW ARMOUR that will cost them 0 dollars and 0 cents, and 0 dollars for shipping, this is a free print, it is 18 by 24 inches printed on the best paper, all signed and numbered, there will also be a very limited edition of 11 oversize prints that will actually be for sale for non-charitable types who don’t know love or forgiveness, these are 33 by 44 inches and cost 555$ each (I actually only have 6 of these left, you need to email info@trapezeeditions.com for these big ones) the original YELLOW ARMOUR was painted with a bucket of yellow and black house paint, yellow, black, and fluorescent orange spraypaint, and oil paint . David Choe Swamp Girl Art Print on sale details

No comments:

From the man David Choe:

this is one of the best things i ever drew in my life, and i drew most of it, while i was in the rainforest in colombia earlier this year with the kogi indians, and also while i was high out of my fucking mind.
on June 3rd 2011, 2pm pacific standard time, i will release my next print SWAMP GIRL .
it is 22 by 22 inches, vibrant colors and insane details, it will be an edition of 44 at $223.
also for this print release we will release the same exact print at 44 by 44 inches in an edition of 16 at $555
and for those of you who like something special and are togo (totally goth) we are making a super limited "ash"edition, which is mostly black and white with limited color, in an edition of 9 at $666.
so to sum up any confusion
44 edition-22x22 inch prints at $223
16 edition-44x44 inch prints at $555
9 edition-44x44 inch"ash"prints at $666
all signed and numbered and available from bobby at trapezeeditons.com
a portion of the sales will go to building schools for the Kogi indians.
the prints will take a few weeks to ship , if you harrass bobby before june 3rd, you'll be immediately taken off the list.
today bobby asked me,"hey dave have you ever watched E.T. ? you know the alien movie?
to which i replied "fuck you bobby."
a car with a fat oriental chick cut us off while we were crossing the street,
to which bobby replied"oh shit ! asian kathy bates! did you see that ?!"
as you can see bobby transcends all, but i will leave you with some words, my friend joey kurtzman left for me
“All the ancient traditions agree that you can't find sunshine by steering clear of the darkness. They say the sunshine is blinding and glorious and everywhere, but you can't see it until you stop running from the darkness and instead walk straight toward the center of the darkness, and let it smother you. Only then will you see and feel that there never was any darkness to begin with.
No matter what language they spoke or what continent they lived on, all these fuckers said this.
A more modern way of saying it: denying your fear or fighting your fear or running from your fear will each accomplish the same thing: they will make you a slave, a blind and shackled servant to your fear.
There is only one method for transcending the fears that control you: stop fighting them, stop thrashing to escape them; instead, kiss them, hold them, feel them, make love to them with all your heart. Love them more than you love all the other people in the world. Do this for long enough, and one day you will find that there is no longer anything left to love.
And that day, for the first time, you will have become capable of truly loving another human being.”
