Scott Musgrove Maori Equus Print Release

1xRUN have a new print release on Thursday from Scott Musgrove titled Maori Equus.

"This painting was done for my show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery. It’s part of a series of paintings and sculptures of extinct North American animals that I’ve been working on for a while now. With this one in particular I was thinking about how people will kill animals for their fur to use as coats, rugs, etc. and realized that some people (at least in the past) look at animals as just raw materials for their own vanity. So, I’m assuming that this species was hunted into extinction so people could re-upholster their living room chairs." - Scott Musgrove

Scott Musgrove The Hiker Print Release Today

1xRUN are excited to welcome in artist Scott Musgrove as he debuts with a series of limited edition prints of "The Hiker" as well as several pieces of original artwork.

"This painting was in my 2012 show at the Dorothy Circus Gallery in Rome, Italy. It is part of a long series of paintings (“The Late Fauna of Early North America”) that began with depicting extinct species (that may never have actually existed). The series has had a few offshoots that vaguely reference parasites and climate change. This painting touches on the subject of the displacement of species as a result of climate change. I try not to be too heavy-handed about it though. My hope is that people will enjoy the image first and then perhaps either discover the message or invent their own message while viewing it." - Scott Musgrove

The Hiker is a 20 x 13 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 300gsm Fine Art Paper with signed and numbered edition of 50

The print and paintings will go on sale today at NOON EDT at 1xRUN.com
