Todd Slater Cake Las Vegas Poster

No comments:

Todd Slater just add his copies of his recent poster for CAKE to his website HERE.

Here's some info on the image itself:
I had two initial sources of inspiration for this print. The first being Milton Glaser's Bob Dylan print. My idea was the ocean whispering melodies to Bob Dylan. I ended up toning this idea way down and the real link to Glaser's portrait and mine are the alternating colors in the strands of hair and the type itself. I felt comfortable referencing Dylan on a print for CAKE for two simple reasons: both are really idiosyncratic artists at their core, and a favorite quote from Jack White, "you can't trust people that say they don't like the Beatles or Bob Dylan". Still, I decided this wasn't enough of a reason to go all in, and made sure the image could stand alone.
My second thought was my own selfish desire to see whispers on a rock poster... it felt fitting for CAKE. The imagery felt a bit like a throw back to my Velvet Revolver and Tori Amos prints from 2004 in their use of flowing hair as a central element.

Poster is 18 x 24 inches /// 5 screens /// numbered edition of 260 (51-260 sold at shows) /// signed and numbered refractor holofoil edition of 34 /// March 20-22, 2014 at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas, NV.

Van Saro & John Park LivEvil Print Release

No comments:

Van Saro has new print release and he had his friend John Park help with the print titled LivEvil that is being released by 1xRUN.

"John and have been doing an ongoing series of collaboration paintings. In the past 2 years we've done 5 paintings together, and we've got more shit coming. I think we will paint together for a long time. We just let the painting develop naturally, so there wasn't much pre-planning on this one." - Van Saro

"This piece was the fourth or fifth collab that we did together. The themes varied but the composition stayed pretty consistent with Van’s beautifully painted figures anchoring my background colors and support characters. The quote provided by Van is from the Buddah. We had been staying pretty consistent with the compositions of our collabs, usually with one of Van’s oil figures left of center anchoring the piece while I handled the background color composition and added support characters. I don’t think we discussed anything before starting." - John Park

This print and 3 original paintings by Van Saro will be going on sale Thursday at NOON EDT at 1xRUN.com

Dan Mumford Hail Destroyer Print

Dan Mumford is helping Warpaint Press with a little something, Drop #20, a milestone for Warpaint Press. This time Warpaint is releasing "Hail Destroyer" by Dan Mumford, a modern take on your "monster destroys a city" theme popularized by 1950s and 1960s sci-fi movies. This one was a lot of fun to cook up and we feel it came out looking great.

As a thank you to all of our fans that have supported us through the release of 20 poster designs, we're doing something extra special. While supplies last, people who order "Hail Destroyer" will receive a free copy of "Our Lady of the Dead", Mumford's first poster for us released last year.

Poster will be released at 10:00 AM EST 5/1 at www.shopwarpaintpress.com

Mirth Mobile Jacked Print by Barry Blankenship

No comments:

Here is Barry Blankenship's print for Ltd. Art Gallery's WHOA...GNARLY! A 90's Art Show

I started doing a series I'm calling "Jacked!" last month with my 66 Jacked Batmobile, and since this Fridays show is 90's themed, why not go with the Mirth Mobile? When I was a kid I talked out the side of my mouth real awkward and my dad gave me a short lived nickname of Garth, so I've always had a soft spot for this movie. Also he had a licorice dispenser! who doesn't want one of those! -Barry

Way Jacked! Mirth Mobile
Edition of 35 signed and numbered 4 color screenprint
