On April 8, 1982, Mötley Crüe played a sold out show at the 3,500 capacity Santa Monica Civic, which was produced by racing car promoter Steve Quercio who saw the band play the Whisky and wanted to help get them to the next level.
Mötley Crüe shared the stage with a couple of race cars owned by John Force. As they played, they set fire to various instruments and debuted their new song "Knock 'Em Dead Kid." The performance and number of ticket sales for a local "Hollywood club band" finally attracted the attention of record labels, and the event becomes a turning point for the Crüe.
Iconic by Collectionzz couldn't celebrate MC40 without creating screenprints commemorating this crazy show, with new art by the always excellent Wildner Lima!
It was an honor to develop this illustration for Mötley Crüe. The style and attitude they had at this stage always delighted me a lot, and I tried to be very faithful to these characteristics. I hope that the fans, like me, feel happy with the memory that this work brings. -Wildner LimaMain Edition - $65.00
