Aaron Nagel Sinew Print Release Details

No comments:

Aaron Nagel is back with a new release from 1xRUN on Tuesday titled Sinew.

"This piece was created for the “20 Years Under the Influence of Juxtapoz” show curated by Thinkspace and Copro that opened in LA last month. It’s still up actually, at the LA Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdale Park.

This was the first larger piece in a while that wasn’t created as part of a larger body of work actually. I’m in-between shows at the moment, so right now I’m trying some new things, playing with new ideas that may or may not carry over into a larger body of work. This piece has since led me into some much weirder territory — that will hopefully see the light of day." - Aaron Nagel

Aaron Nagel Surface Print Release Details

No comments:

Aaron Nagel has a new print release Thursday with 1xRUN titled Surface, he will also have some original paintings for sale.

"This piece from start to finish took a little over three weeks. I finished most of it pretty quick, then spent some time working the bottom areas with a pallet knife, debating the background pattern, and adding glazes to really get the highlights to pop. As far as the photo shoot, I didn’t have much of a plan, and I was working with a new model, in a new location. It was all very experimental — I haven’t done much painting of environment; I’ve always just focused on the model and dealt with the background and surroundings after the fact. But I am very much interested in painting more complete scenes, so this shoot was kind of an introduction to that direction. The model also didn’t want nudity in the shot, so I was trying to strategically shoot around actual nudity, but still be suggestive. That’s always a huge challenge, not only because it limits poses, but because I don’t typically have a ton of costume and wardrobe options on hand. The shot I ended up wanting to paint did of course have a smidge of boob showing, but she graciously allowed me to use it." - Aaron Nagel

Aaron Nagel The Pale Print On Sale Today

No comments:

Back for his third RUN with 1xRUN, they are excited to welcome Aaron Nagel as he presents one of his latest pieces "The Pale" from his recent solo show at New York City's Lyon's Weir Gallery. Aaron's first two RUNs The Calming and Signals sold out very quickly so be sure not to hesitate with this one. Read on as Aaron walks us through his latest piece and more...

"I did the reference photo shoot for this piece in a friends house in the Hollywood Hills. These particular shots were taken in front of large floor to ceiling windows during the day, so the natural light provided a pretty harsh backlight on the model. The combination of relatively cool natural light with the warmer light from my strobes is what attracted me to these two particular poses. This piece took me a lot longer than usual -- maybe a month or so -- mostly due to my having never painted this type of lighting before, and the amount and variety of color created by the light on the figure." - Aaron Nagel

The Pale is a 17 x 22 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 330gsm Fine Art Paper with a signed and numbered edition of 100
