"This piece was created after a trip to Bali which influenced it’s style. It was part of a series on horses I produced, which were initially slated to be shown in the middle east. This piece represents the first piece where I used an Indonesian shadow puppet design in the background as a familiar motif in my work. I wanted to create a piece about beauty emanating from the soul, and to create a visually striking piece as well. This piece is one of the more beautiful works I have produced and I feel it's beauty is also from within." - Heidi Taillefer

Heidi Taillefer Revelation Print Release Details

von Scaramouche Gallery has been quite lately but they are back with a stunning new print for release this week.

Heidi Taillefer’s new limited edition print is a reproduction of her amazing painting, Revelation (2010). Her work can be described as an original creative fusion of classical figurative painting, surrealism, contemporary realism, and mythology combined with popular figurative traditions ranging from victorian romanticism to science fiction.

Description of Revelation as per Heidi Taillefer:

"Revelation is a painting about transformation of oneself, from sinister and malevolent to an evolution towards the light. The horse is Pegasus of greek mythology, who grew from the blood of the head of Medusa. A symbol of wisdom, Pegasus rides out from a blood soaked coach shell as a cloud of ominous ravens, giving the horse it's blackened color. But he moves from the sinister or left side towards the towards to glow of light and wisdom on the right, which characterizes his ultimate being."

Her work can be described as an original creative fusion of classical figurative painting, surrealism, contemporary realism, and mythology combined with popular figurative traditions ranging from Victorian romanticism to science fiction.

 

Description of Detritus of Devotion:

Detritus of Devotion is a painting about the wars and hatred caused by religious intolerance, and the violence it has incited throughout the ages and throughout the world. The angel descending is Religion personified, constructed of elements symbolizing the worlds three largest monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

Description of Govinda and the Heiffer Nymph:

This painting is an hommage to Krishna, avatar of Vishnu who is the ultimate god of the life essence that pervades all things. The holy cow is walking placidly through a Jain temple and is made up of offerings to the heavens. The blue color is representative of Krishna ( also known as Govinda), and the arms are in reference to the many girlfriends which surrounded him in his incarnation as cowheard.
