Mimi Yoon Once Upon A Time No More Print Release

No comments:

It's not often any more you see a good strong message in a piece of art. Mimi Yoon delivers a very clear message in her latest print Once Upon A Time No More being released by 1xRUN on Friday.

"Once Upon A Time No More was painted for the group show Glass, Cinder & Thorns III at Inner State Gallery in Detroit. An agent suggested that I do a series of Disney princesses for fine art prints through a Disney licensed publisher, and while brainstorming the idea came to me.

The golden yarn cat's cradle and the tattoo on her finger is a message to all the bullies out there. I hope everyone will find the message and execution unique and special. I also hope this image will remind us of the message each time it's viewed." - Mimi Yoon

The print will be offered on two mediums paper & canvas.

Mimi Yoon Octopussy Print Release

No comments:

1xRUN have a bunch of great new work from Mimi Yoon. A print, a hand embellished canvas print and 10 originals by her. The print is titled Octopussy, no James Bond connection though.

For artist Mimi Yoon, there is no concrete definition for art. To her it is simply that "art is." Mimi's artwork vibrates with tangible and sensual beauty and honesty. it subtly allures then climaxes to demand attention and is immediately unforgettable.

"This piece explores the femininity, vanity, and sensuality which seem to continue in most of my work. Octopussy was painted in 2012 for a group show, and the original is sold. It's an obviously seductive yet elegant and classy image. The print quality is amazing too. I was wowed by the large canvas print." - Mimi Yoon

Mimi Yoon My Vampirella Print Release Details

No comments:

Mimi Yoon has new print Wednesday with 1xRUN and it is a sultry little number, My Vampirella. If you are wondering who Vampirella is she has been around the comic book scene since 1969 when she first appeared. Created by Forrest J Ackerman and costume designer Trina Robbins, she started teasing boys in Warren Publishing's black-and-white horror comics magazine Vampirella #1.

"This piece was commissioned by Dynamite Entertainment for one of the covers of their new Vampirella comic book.

I've done a couple DC Comic's fine art prints, "Bad Girls" and "To Tease The Bat" (which was just released this month). I'm currently working on a Spider-Man fine art print piece which will be my first Marvel project. If all goes as scheduled, it will be released at SDCC 2014. I've done all 4 covers for IDW and 2000AD's "Judge Dredd: Judge Anderson, Psi-Division" mini series comic books which will start in August. I'm actually working on the 4th cover at the moment. A variant cover for "Adventure Time 29" (BOOM Studios), a variant cover for "Powerpuff Girls 6"(IDW) which caused that huge ridiculous controversy back in January and the super rare cover for "Vampirella" comic book." - Mimi Yoon

Now along with the print she will be selling sketches, the original painting and some pillows as they all drop at NOON EDT Wednesday at 1xRUN.com

Mimi Yoon Misfit Dream Print & Original Paintings On Sale

No comments:

"I've been wanting to paint a sister piece to "Bang Bang". As did with "Bang Bang", I wanted this piece to be also a mix of beauty, hope, and satire that could be interpreted in each viewers perspective.

When I was invited to live paint during an event at La Luz de Jesus Gallery, Hollywood, at the end of 2012, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to start the piece.

Take note of the unraveling of the ski mask. The skirt with camouflage pattern of the world map. The peace symbol keychain. The bikini top rhinestoned in stars and stripes. The Mickey Mouse hat with the Mickey skull. The tattoo of a partial quote by Apple, Inc. on her arm. The origami boat symbolizing Dream. . . and of course, her. " - Mimi Yoon
