Dan May Steve Thomas and Mike DuBois Peanuts Valentine's Day Print Releases

No comments:

Dark Hall Mansion under license from Peanuts Worldwide LLC, brings a very special treat to all this Valentine's Day, and with varied choices at that, the official Peanuts limited edition print releases by artists Dan May, Steve Thomas and Mike DuBois, all available this Friday, February 3rd at 12:30 PM-PST!!

Artist Dan May's powerful and emotionally charged piece struck us deeply on seeing his completed painting, indeed one of the most touching and emotive Peanuts pieces we've ever been privileged to publish. It addresses with honesty the inevitable issue that Valentine's Day is as much about unrequited love and the challenges of this day as it is about love itself. Dan's "FRIENDS ARE ALWAYS THERE" finds Snoopy pensive, hesitant, clearly something has gone wrong, his very environment reflecting this, yet Dan specifically noted to us how he wanted his piece to be an uplifting message of love, and just as Woodstock's valentine butterfly rises to remind his friend that, come what may, friends are indeed always there for one another, we too are reminded to have faith in love in its countless incarnations. Dan's evening Variant similarly conveys this message with a pastel Valentine's moon and wishing star underscoring things can indeed better.

Artist Steve Thomas' "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, CHARLIE BROWN" brings us a touching and elegant rendering that finds Snoopy and Woodstock happily preparing valentines for all as Charlie Brown approaches his beloved "little red-haired girl." Strikingly composed, the 'will she or won't she' moment is pure Schulz in tone and one whose combined hesitance and hopefulness we can all relate to. Most fun is that Steve's two different prints allow fans to choose their own ending, especially as Steve's Variant pink edition offers up a charming moment many long for via a distinctly varied silhouette and which might just prove that special valentine.

Artist Mike DuBois' "LOVE FOREVER" is pure joy! An absolute celebration of love itself, its happiness not confined to Valentine's Day but love to bask in and delight always. Mike's detail work is always a visual treat, his tree of love raining hearts a sight to see, but the sheer joy with which Woodstock gathers hearts while in flight as they gently tumble, then cascades those same hearts down upon his closest friend who ecstatically celebrates via his classic happy dance, this is a true celebration of love, life and its multitude of faces. Mike's Variant pink edition is pure eye candy, while his insane foil editions, which are usually his most popular with our buyers and so quickest to sell, are printed and offered via two different foil paper substrates which stunningly compliment his artwork for "LOVE FOREVER." Monitor images do not properly showcase Mike's foil editions, note for example the ground covering which allows the foil substrate to shine through along with other areas of his editions.

FREE Valentine's gift!! Every Mike DuBois print comes with a free random mini-Valentine's DuBois print of Snoopy or Woodstock that makes for a special Valentine treat to give away! :) A FREE mini-print accompanies each DuBois print so, YES, 2 DuBois prints means 2 DuBois smalls, 3 DuBois prints, 3 DuBois smalls, etc.

All DHM officially licensed Peanuts limited edition Valentine's prints will be available Friday, February 3rd, exclusively via DHM's dedicated store page at: http://darkhallmansionstore.com at 12:30 PM-PST!!

The Dan May and Steve Thomas prints are strictly limited, hand numbered, giclee editions. Note there will also be a very select canvas edition run of just 10 pieces worldwide for each of their prints. For those preferring small format prints there is an 11" x 14" pairing of the Standard + Variant editions available for May or Thomas as well. Dan May And Mike DuBois Merry Christmas Charlie Brown Prints Release

No comments:

Dark Hall Mansion under license from Peanuts Worldwide LLC, continues its annual Christmas and holiday Peanuts releases with artists Dan May, Mike DuBois, Eduardo Sanabria and their official limited edition prints for "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown," !!

Artist Dan May's interpretation of Charles M. Schulz's 1965 classic, "A Charlie Brown Christmas," is quiet and powerful, a piece subtly addressing troubled times with Charlie Brown removed and elevated from the noise of the world and blur the holidays can become by masking that which is most important. Dan's composition instantly struck us in finding Charlie Brown, accompanied by a quietly emotional Snoopy, not merely reflective but openly longing and prayerful for that which matters most; a moving reminder for us all, particularly during the holidays.

Artist Mike DuBois' "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown" is a gently sweet counterpoint sharing a warm and at ease Charlie Brown very much at peace and enjoying his world with close friends on that most special of nights. Mike's stylistic approach renders his print visually interesting as even his trees seem to lean and reach for that holiest of stars whilst Charlie Brown's inner peace is similarly reflected in one very content Snoopy. Mike's foil editions immediately sold out on our first day of release for his "Evening Celebration" prints and here his Lava and Sparkle editions, both printed on foil substrate, lend an additional and striking dimension to his "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown" prints by heightening the emotion and context of each. Mike's editions are screen printed and individually hand signed by the artist.

Finally, DHM is so very excited to be working with award winning artist, Eduardo Sanabria, whose vibrantly colored work and intensely stylized approach well serves that most classic dance break moment in "A Charlie Brown Christmas" that has the whole Peanuts gang sharing one of the single most famous moments in Peanuts film history. Eduardo's body of work and socials following speaks for itself and DHM is looking forward to surprising fans with upcoming collaborations with Eduardo.

Dan May Charlie Brown Halloween and Christmas Prints

No comments:

Dark Hall Mansion, under license from Peanuts Worldwide LLC, is honored and excited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Charles M. Schulz's incomparable 1966 Peanuts masterpiece, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and welcomes leading contemporary artists Dan May and Eric Robison for some very special limited edition holiday prints !!

Dark Hall Mansion are so pleased to finally share artist Dan May's lovely pieces, his "Charlie Brown's Halloween" is a moving and quiet work, restrained yet emotional; Dan commented how "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" was never far from his mind throughout the painting's creation, his Variant "Great Pumpkin" edition bringing this into focus. Dan's "Charlie Brown's Christmas" is a beautiful companion piece, its Variant "Christmas tree" edition gorgeously celebrates the season with a very special little tree, gently swaddled in Linus' blanket, reminding Charlie Brown, and all of us, what Christmas is all about.

DHM is so very honored to welcome artist Eric Robison, former Disney Imagineer, and an artist whose career needs but a quick Google check to show its sheer range and stature. Eric's powerful, dramatic and gestural style has graced such high profile projects as Disney's "100 Mickeys," the official "Haunted Mansion" painting, and the seasonal "Nightmare Before Christmas" renderings, so we are absolutely thrilled to have him celebrating the 50 year legacy of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown." Eric is already at work on a wide host of exclusive projects for DHM so it's safe to say you can expect some very special surprises upcoming, starting with our very special and limited artist sketch edition that honors the Charles M. Schulz legacy via Eric's unbounded passion for the film he openly states helped inspire him to become the artist he is today.

All Dark Hall Mansion limited edition prints go on sale Friday, October 14th, on DHM's dedicated store page at http://darkhallmansionstore.com/ at 12:30 PM-PST!

Dan May Where Have All The Monsters Gone? Print Release

No comments:

1xRUN are excited to welcome back artist Dan May as he returns for his 4th RUN Where Have All The Monsters Gone? a swirlingly detailed piece painted back in 2011. This time around Dan has also brought 1xRUN 10 unique pieces on Bamboo panels.

"Before starting this piece, I paid a visit to the Art Institute of Chicago and spent some time admiring a beautiful painting by Max Ernst, titled Spanish Physician. It is a stunning piece that is loaded with texture, which he achieved by using a technique called decalcomania. The process involves pressing paint between two surfaces. Upon returning to my studio I immediately began playing around and loved the beautiful textures that this technique yielded; this served as a perfect base layer to begin my next painting.

As a result, the original is loaded with texture. To replicate that in the print we have chosen a fine art paper with a great texture and the limited 10 on bamboo panel. As with all of my work, hopefully it strikes a chord with the viewer and inspires emotion, intrigue, and maybe even a story." - Dan May

Where Have All The Monsters Gone? is a 16 x 20 Inches Archival Pigment Print On Bamboo Panel + Fine Art Paper with a signed and numbered edition of 60 and 10

Dan May Patient Season Print Release Details

No comments:

1xRUN are excited to showcase one of the latest paintings from Dan May with "Patient Season". Painted earlier this year, this piece pulls together many of the elements of Dan May's signature style.

"I started this painting during the winter solstice and was thinking of many things while creating it. My art is generally layered with emotion, texture, and detail. A large part of my process involves absorbing what I am experiencing at any one given moment in time. My paintings are a way of reflecting on these moments and sharing them with others.

We all have emotions; it's the common thread that connects us all, no matter how different we may seem. The creatures in my paintings are not your typical beasts, they are gentle creatures that often come from a place of deep pain and seem to have "experienced" life... there is, however, always a glimmer of hope. I was anticipating the coming year and thinking about all that the future holds... how time can fly by and how we are all affected by not only our relationships with one another, but by our relationship with our planet and the creatures that inhibit it." - Dan May

PangeaSeed Presents: Sink or Swim Tokyo Preview

No comments:

Clint Wilson was kind enough to send over information on this great cause along with some of the art work for this year.

In the spirit of ocean conservation the Japan-based non-profit organization, PangeaSeed, is ramping up for it’s third annual art exhibition tailored to address one the biggest threats facing the health of world’s oceans today – the rapid mass depletion of sharks.

With each minute that passes close to 200 sharks are killed, adding up to an astonishing 80 million deaths each year. The majority of these sharks are killed only for their fins to satisfy an unsustainable appetite for shark fin soup in Asia and other parts of the world. In the cruel practice known as “finning,” the shark is hooked and brought aboard the boat where its fins are then cut off and the still alive but limbless animal is tossed back into the sea to drown.

Dan May Beneath the Noise Art Print on sale from 1xRun

No comments:

Beneath the Noise
14 x 18 in. Signed & Numbered

Giclee on 330gsm 100% Archival Cotton Paper

An intriguing exercise in surrealism, Beneath the Noise plays with the nature of reality - and does so with an uncommon degree of imaginative charm. A figure made of hair or born from the surrounding weeds and vegetation appears to be running with or from a flight of birds. One of these appears to be making off with a strand from the figure's head - perhaps for a nest? The background elements of color are imbued with a somber autumnal tone, but there's an additional and obvious hint of playful abandon here that checks the immediate assumption of brooding menace.

Mortality may be the subject. Or love. Or the singular gifts we possess in reinventing the fabric of life and weaving all the threads into a seamless garment. The painter may merely have been recalling a dream that visually and thematically echoed a myriad number of things that affect all of us. Once again, the privilege of interpretation has been granted to the viewer by a rare and obviously generous talent.
