Dumbgun My Morning Jacket Las Vegas Poster

Dumbgun did the  My Morning Jacket poster for their 2 night set of  Las Vegas shows over the past weekend. The white version was the public sale version, and the red one was for VIP attendees only and not for sale.

Derek from Dumbgun talks design:

VINTAGE BOWLING ALLEY MATCHBOOK COVER
This idea was inspired by the venue for the shows, The Brooklyn Bowl. The fact that there is a bowling alley right next to the concert area makes this an interesting venue. Drawing from the bowling alley, and Vegas itself, the idea came to mind to do a retro/vintage matchbook design. There have been some pretty elaborate matchbooks in the past which would allow for some really cool art to be done. The matches could look like pins. Imagine the matchbook open to the inside where you see the matches and the striking surface. This is what the poster would look like.

The poster is 12×24, 4-color, screen printed poster. Limited run of 143.

Dumbgun Wilco Salt Lake City Poster Release

It's been a couple of years since Derek Landers and Dumbgun have done a poster but they have a really cool looking Wilco poster for sale right now. So many posters these days seem derivatives of past works, I dig the design on this one since no one has used this idea before.

The poster for the show in Salt Lake City last month is 12×24 inches, 4-color, screen printed poster. Limited run of 150.

Dumbgun also has a new website and store with several of their old posters for sale along with this one for Wilco. Head over to www.Dumbgun.com to buy it and see the others.

Tonight's Soundgarden Poster from Dallas by Dumbgun & Release Details

After putting on an incredible show last night in Austin according to Todd Slater and Billy Perkins Soundgarden blow into Dallas tonight. One of the cool things about the posters from this tour is they are having a bunch of new artists or not the usual ones do the posters. I like seeing a good variety of talent do the posters for tours. Tonight is no different, some of you might not have heard of or remember Dumbgun. But since 2003 they’ve been wielding their own brand of design justice, ranging from t-shirts, posters, illustrations and logos.

I asked Derek from Dumbgun their idea behind the design:

As far as the idea for the poster it was definitely inspired by the album title "King Animal" and more specifically the song "Crooked Steps". I love the energy and unease of that song's rhythm and thinking of steps I just started thinking about uneven terrain, which got me thinking about the wilderness. To keep with the animal motif I focused on making a wolf/mountain with a crown made of rocks. In the concept pitch we described it as "smokey like it was dusk in some prehistoric or unknown wilderness". - Dumbgun

The poster is 18x24 and with an edition of 150. Now if you want one of these posters shoot them an email to buy one info )at( dumbgun.com , replace the )at( with @. I did that so they would not get a bunch of spam email
