João Ruas Nighthunters II Art Print Release

 

 
Black Dragon Press are very excited to release a brand new art print from one of their favorite working artists, the great João Ruas. ‘Nighthunters II’ is a 14.5" x 18” fine art print printed on a hefty 350gsm museum grade paper and will be available for 72 hours starting this Wednesday 08 September at 5pm UK time. The final edition run will consist of the number of copies sold during this time. This edition will not be reprinted.

Please note that 5% of the profits from this edition will be donated to Projeto Harpia, an NGO that is trying among other things to reintroduce harpy eagles around the threatened Atlantic forests of Brazil. This in top of our ongoing campaign raising money to plant trees with the World Land Trust.

Joao Ruas Ran Movie Poster Release By Black Dragon Press

Black Dragon Press are delighted to release brand new work from João Ruas celebrating Akira Kurosawa’s epic ‘RAN’. I must say these are some epic posters and so beautiful

For 'RAN' João Ruas has created three different images, one for each of Hidetora's sons: Jiro, Taro and Saburo; and each identifiable by their iconic banner colors. In Japanese culture red traditionally symbolizes violence, yellow is said to signify courage and blue represents calmness and purity. BDP like to think that João's posters echo these symbolic correlations as 'Taro' celebrates the warrior figure, 'Jiro' can be seen facing the long journey ahead, and 'Saburo' is a stripped down image, leaving out all elements extraneous to the art.

Eric Fortune and Joao Ruas Prints from Paper Tiger

Paper Tiger just released two new prints from artists Eric Fortune and Joao Ruas. Both original paintings are from the recent LeBasse Projects show in NY. Each of the prints are on Sommerset archival paper, signed and numbered, and limited to editions of only 25.

With both of the artists growing in popularity quickly its a good time to get their work as their original paintings continue to climb in price. The prints are only $100 and can be ordered here.
