Kim Cogan Old Roberts Motel Art Print

Kim Cogan has released a new print with 1xRUN titled Old Roberts Motel.

"This painting was included in my 2015 solo exhibition, The Other Side. The show focused on realism and memory. I wanted to piece together abstract memories with the nostalgia of a distinct time and place to create a new, dream-like reality. I combined old photographs with new ones to make complete images, very similar to how you might construct a memory in your head. This painting is one of a kind, and can never duplicated. What sets this image apart from others is the subject, how the light is portrayed and the luminous color, the bold brushstrokes and layering of paint, and the mood.

It was also inspired by an actual location, the Roberts Motel in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset. On the same block was the Ocean Beach Diner, and my second home, Aqua Surf Shop. The beach was a block away, and there was a mini ramp to skate in the back. I have many great memories of that place. I scraped my pennies together and bought my first real deal surfboard from there long ago." - Kim Cogan

Kim Cogan Alexandria Print Release

Kim Cogan will be releasing a new print with 1xRUN today titled Alexandria.

"The painting was intended to be a bit of a conversation starter. This theater closed in 2004 and has remained dormant ever since. Why have older movie theaters closed and the property gone to waste? It was sold long ago when it debuted in Hespe Gallery's 20th Anniversary celebration in 2013.

I thought about painting the Alexandria Theater long ago. In the 90’s if I had time before work/school I would watch matinees. I would pass by daily and observed it slowly decaying. It doesn’t make sense to me letting the property go to waste especially as real estate in the city is hitting an all time high." - Kim Cogan

Kim Cogan Passengers Print Release Today

Kim Cogan returns to 1xRUN today with new print titled Passengers.

"A recurring theme in a few of my paintings was observations of people on their daily commute. This painting shows the New York City Metro, but it's an idea that could have applied to any transit system. In the painting the figures stagger as they recede into space to convey occupying a small space yet being isolated from one another.

Each artwork I create is never duplicated and one of a kind. What sets this painting apart from others is the way the light is portrayed and the luminous color, the bold brushstrokes and layering of paint, and the mood.

At first glance, the painting presents a familiar scene, with the colors of the subway and the glowing lights. Kim Cogan Manhattan Bridge Print Release

Korean Artist Kim Cogan is back with a new run at 1xRUN today. What's that old saying about having a bridge to sell ? Well today they do have one for sale, a print anyway. The Manhattan Bridge print is based on a massive 52 x 72 inch painting Kim finished in 2011.

"The idea for this piece came about from several different visits to New York, and the bridge as a subject matter has also been a metaphoric symbol to incorporate into my artwork. Initially I had shot a few photographs but ended up revisiting because I wanted to portray the bridge under misty diffused lighting and capture its true natural color.

Kim Cogan Surf Motel Print Release Details
