Kyle Baker Avett Brothers and Mavericks Posters

No comments:

Kyle Baker has a pair of new posters to release belatedly. The first is for a favorite client of his over the years: The Avett Brothers. Their fans seem to dig the landmark-themed posters he's done for them so he stuck with that direction for their Orlando gig late last month.

The second is for a new client of Baker Prints, The Mavericks. If you've never heard them, check 'em out, they're great. Sort of like Elvis crooning over an electric mariachi band with a Bakersfield vibe, big songs with great hooks.

In keeping with the landmark theme of previous posters for the Avett Brothers in Chicago and Wichita, this poster for the Bros Orlando gig in May 2017 depicts "The Eye", an enormous Ferris Wheel built just a couple years back.

Edition Size Artist Edition 53, Rainbow Foil Variant 23
Paper 18 x 24 inches, printed on Cougar Natural cover and Rainbow Foil cardstock
Screens & Ink

Kyle became a fan of the Mavericks in the last couple years while listening to Outlaw Country on Sirius XM radio, so he was thrilled when they called and asked if he'd design and print a poster for their gig at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Edition Size Artist Edition (Green paper) 43, Orange Variant 14, Sparkle Variant 12
Paper 18 x 24 inches, Neenah Astrobrights green cover stock, Neenah Astrobrights orange cover stock, 10pt Sparkle Foil holographic board.

Kyler Baker Counting Crows, Grateful Dead & New Print

No comments:

Kyle Baker has just released a bunch of great work.

His Grateful Dead 50 Chicago Tribute Print

The Meltdown series comes in a couple of fairly big editions (403 for the 'primary' coloway, 223 for the 'red gold' variant) plus tiny rainbow-foil editions for the diehard poster geeks out there.

Last summer Kyle designed and printed over 4,000 posters for the Counting Crows' US (summer) and European (fall) tours, and now they're finally getting around to selling the very limited artist editions that they've only sold previously in-person at art festivals, etc. He channeled Wes Wilson for this extremely challenging but rewarding typographical puzzle.

Winner of the Windy City Chicago Print by Baker Prints

No comments:

Seems like everyone loves Wrigley Field, the Cubs and the food when it comes to Chicago. Now if Chicago could just do something about the Dan Ryan expressway it just might be perfect, I don't like that freeway at all.

But there is one person that is really going to love Chicago just a little more and that is Brian Yi who had comment #90 and he is the winner of this fantastic Windy City print by Kyle Baker and his father. Brian email me your address and I will be sending you the print.

Much love and THANK YOU again to Kyle Baker of Baker Prints for providing this incredible print and making this giveaway that much better. He still has some of these available along with a bunch of gigposters and other prints over at the Baker Prints website so go check them out.

Baker Prints The Windy City Chicago Free Friday Poster Giveaway

101 comments:

I have been doing giveaways on the blog for over 4 years now and those of you that have been fans for all these years know I have given away some really good stuff. Today's giveaway ranks in the top 5 of the best ever. I had been talking with Kyle Baker of Baker Prints off and on for a while at Flatstock in Chicago a couple of weeks back and got around to asking him hey would you like to do a giveaway on the blog. He said sure how about The Windy City print of Chicago. Kyle created the print in collaboration with his father Terry Baker, it's a painstakingly-crafted illustration of Chicago icons and architecture being playfully blown away. The effort, from start to finish, was easily the largest art project either of them have ever undertaken. My mouth hit the ground when he offered it and I think I said 3 or 4 times "are you sure ?". The reason I was so surprised, is that he sells these for $220 a piece and this is one serious piece of art.

The Windy City print is a massive 36 x 24 inch 16 color screen print with a signed and numbered edition of 456. It also comes with a legend that let's you know what all the places, people and things are on the print. Click the image above to enlarge it and see all the detail.

Now go to the top of the post above the picture and click on comments or scroll down (depends on how you see this post) to leave a comment what you like about Chicago to have a chance at winning the poster. Don't worry if your comment does not appear immediately I have to approve them before they are published. I will use the Random Number Generator to pick a winner. Entries are limited to ONE PER PERSON PER HOUSEHOLD. Please leave your name with the comment, comments without names will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted until 11:59 PM PDT Saturday August 2 with the winner announced on Sunday.

BIG TIME THANK YOU to Kyle Baker for providing this print for the giveaway this week. Be sure to check out all the other posters and prints he has at BakerPrints.com
