Malt Old Souls Laser Cut Wood Art

No comments:

Malt returns to 1xRUN today with 15 Various Sized Hand-Painted Multiples on Laser Cut Wood.

"After seeing 1xRUN working with other artists doing these wood cuts, I really dug them and how rad they looked. I just thought it'd be cool to take what I am doing on canvas and transfer it over.

These were done in early to mid September 2014 using laser cut wood with acrylic and spray paint. They took a little over a week to finish.

This is my first series of cut outs. I've been wanting to do this for a while, but haven't had the opportunity until now, so I'm stoked!" - Malt

Malt Continuous Thunder Print On Sale

No comments:

"The story behind the piece is searching to fill that empty space inside when losing someone very close to you. As the saying goes time heals all wounds, until then it's "Continuous Thunder." I always tend to work in a series of color combos, mostly in 3's. This series being one of them.

The idea starts the way most of my pieces come about. Laying down the background and staring for a while. Then figuring out where I want the flow of the piece to go. With this piece it's kind of a "X" pattern. I wanted to do a hopscotch kinda deal with the maroons and pinks over the greys and the greys over the maroons and pinks. Along with the prints and original painting there are two smaller complimentary pieces available with this RUN." - Malt

Malt & Tead All Night Satellites Print Release Details

No comments:

1xRUN are excited to welcome back two of their favorite Detroit artists Malt and Tead as they have brought them their first collaborative print All Night Satellites. Along with the 37 x 37 inch original painting, 1xRUN will also have a selection of smaller originals available from both Malt and Tead.

"Malt and I have known each other for years. I knew him for a few years before he wrote Malt when I was just getting into graff and what not. One day randomly, one of our friends told me my dude was Malt, I didn't believe it for a minute. I was blown away that Malt already knew I wrote. I was this little kid just trying to be down. I basically exiled myself from the rest of the world, ditched anyone who didn't paint. Blew off my girlfriend and just went in. Didn't rest and didn't sleep. I was seeking something I didn't even know. Just painting non-stop." - Tead

The All Night Satellites print is 22 x 22 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 300gsm Bright White Fine Art Paper with a signed and numbered edition of 50 by both artists

Malt Battle Plan- A special online exhibition of art from 1xRUN

No comments:

The idea for the "Chest Piece" series was more of a accident than anything to start out. I was painting an owl on a rolled steel door but wasn't digging the feathers in the center. Many attempts later I just decided to try to incorporate the texture of the door, painting each of the vertical lines in the center a solid color. which worked for me. So I decided to make a series out of it...The "Chest Piece" series. Also featured here are select works from my "Royal Blood" and "Greyscale" paintings. "Royal Blood" was the second installment of my "Acid Forest" series. The series covers a range of different characters from "The Entrance" which showcases the gatekeepers of the forest, so to speak, to "Sir Nolte The 3rd", who is the head honcho, and everyone in between. The "Greyscale" series followed my colorful "Royal Blood" pieces. With those pieces I wanted to strip the color and make the paintings work with a limited palette (minus the eyes) while still adding layers to create contrast and depth. Each and every piece is individually hand-painted with acrylic and spraypaint and comes framed and ready to hang." - Malt

In total 22 new pieces of original art by Malt in Various Sizes Using Spray Paint + Acrylic Paintings On Cradled Wood will be featured today.

It all goes down at 1xRUN.com at NOON EDT
