Tristan & Matt Eaton Musashi Print Release Details

No comments:

As most of you know for the past two weeks Pow Wow Hawaii 2015 has been happening, most of the best mural artists in world do some incredible work. Tristan Eaton and his brother Matt Eaton got together and did their first ever mural there and titled it Musashi. To say they killed the wall would be an understatement, they murdered it.

The best part of this is they are going to release a print of the image that inspired the mural work. This print is a combination of archival pigment print and 3 color silk-screen and with spot varnish on 100% cotton museum rag, hand deckled paper.

Signed and numbered by both artists with an edition of only 50. The print measures a stout 36 x 24 inches

Release Date: Friday, February 20th at Noon PST.

Print will be sold on www.tristaneaton.net

UPDATE from Tristan :

Print Update: Due to the elaborate process on this print (gyclee + hand pulled silk-screen etc) - our printer needs more time. We will be postponing this release exactly 1 week. The new release date & time is FRIDAY FEB, 27th AT NOON PST. Sorry for the inconvenience guys!

OPENINGS: Matt Eaton Useless Advice From A Stranger Show at 323 East Gallery

No comments:
Saturday night saw the opening of Matt Eaton's latest show at 323 East Gallery in Royal Oak Michigan. The Inside the Rock Poster Frame Street Team was there to bring you pictures from the show.  Many people thought this was Matt's strongest show ever.

More than half of the pieces from Useless Advice From A Stranger were sold on opening night, but Matt Eaton and 1xRUN have made a select 14 pieces available to 1xRUN collectors. These will go on sale Wednesday September 12 at Noon EDT at 1xRUN.com

We use the word ironic in this instance because this talented man is hardly a stranger to the Detroit art scene and his focused advice has been anything but useless. Over the past year, Eaton has been the chief curator and driving force behind Red Bull's House of Art - a task which finds him mentoring dozens of local artists and drawing national attention to our city's creative energy. Indeed, if getting dubbed "the curator of curators" from his peers is any indication, Eaton has already earned an estimable niche in our community. In addition to that accomplishment, he has also succeeded in enlisting over 30 international artists to paint more than 60 murals throughout Detroit and Hamtramck neighborhoods.

Matt Eaton Solo Exhibition “Useless Advice from a Stranger” Opening September 8th

No comments:

On September 8th, Matt Eaton will return to 323East for his second solo exhibition - an eagerly awaited show with the delightfully ironic title “Useless Advice from a Stranger”.

Befitting the originality of his talent, Matt Eaton is not the easiest artist to bracket or place within a particular genre. He is a master of abstract visuals, using the often overlooked elements of everyday existence to fashion works of subtle charm and undeniable beauty. However, an Eaton painting is anything but passive. His canvases have a muted boldness with lines and colors that seem to coil their strength until they become visible to the eyes of a patient viewer. Think of a charge of dynamite or gunpowder carefully primed for a fuse; the explosion comes when you catch the hitherto undetected fire beneath the cool surface. Eaton is always suggesting that we look and look closely at everything. That's pretty valuable advice.

OPENINGS COVERED: Red Bull House of Detroit August 2012 Show

No comments:
The Red Bull House of Art in Detroit had their second opening Friday night and the Inside the Rock Poster Frame Street Team was their to cover it.

Eight artists from the Metro Detroit area were chosen by the curator Matt Eaton. It was a strong lineup with a nice variety of talent on display.

Allison Vince / make-up
Bryan Baker / print making
Corey Birdwell / non-traditional photography with mix medium
James Collins / oil and acrylic on linen
DelVona Johnson / acrylic on wood
Kobie Solomon / mixed media
Michelle Tanguay / oil on canvas
Ray Domzalski / acrylic on wood panel

James Collins had the most mind bending art with some crazy optical illusions in many of his pieces. He also had a great concept with his large piece that is all white by appearances. It's layers of silver and white house paint with the last layer of white they wrapped it with plastic wrap to create the texture. But at the same time the white paint will flake off over time exposing the silver underneath to create an always evolving piece of art.

Ray Domzalski had some great work on wood panel.

Michelle Tanguay's bright colors lit up the room even as the last days of summer are upon us.

Gallery Hours are every Saturday from 10am-3pm.
Address:
Eastern Market
1551 Winder St.
Detroit, MI 48207

OPENINGS: Red Bull House of Art Detroit

No comments:

Red Bull House of Art Grand Gallery Opening and The Inside the Rock Poster Frame Street Team has the pictures for you to enjoy.

Red Bull House of Art is giving artists the chance to spread and flex their creative wings. Built out in the E & B Brewery Lofts in historic Eastern Market, Red Bull House of Art provides artists with the foundation (literally) needed to showcase their work on a global stage, without interruption.

For the past eight weeks, Red Bull House of Art has given eight artists the tools, time and space to create, explore and refine their craft. Selected by curator Matt Eaton, each artist works in a slightly different medium from Crystal Vinson’s encaustic-infused photography to Ben Saginaw’s ancient ink-and-pen nib drawings, back through Keri Mortimer’s abstract take on industrial landscapes and Franklin Jonas’ geometrically and mathematically stunning laser-cut metal sculptures.

The gallery built out directly below the artists’ dedicated workspace in E & B Brewery Lofts is stunning and like no other. Built in 1891, Red Bull House of Art blends traditional New York-style gallery space with raw, cavernous rooms unique to Detroit’s rich architectural history.

Some of the artists work space with built in coolers full of Red Bull of course

Franklin Jonas The Star Project yes this is two walls filled with over 300 of them

The space the gallery resides in is enormous and not like those little closet sized gallery's in LA and New York. Matt Eaton's efforts have really paid off in bringing a brilliant gallery setting to Detroit, something it has been lacking for a long time. Matt who said he had not slept in like 49 hours leading up to the opening was extremely pleased with all the hard work everyone put into it. The results show the dedication and hard work all the artists contributed to make it an amazing show. All the patrons that showed up enjoyed the setting and as well, the gallery was packed all night long. The show will be on display for the next two months with the remaining art for sale online soon.
