Cyrcle Totym Print Release Details

No comments:

CYRCLE the two-man collective born out of Los Angeles, California in 2010 have a new print they are releasing with 1xRUN on Thursday. Totym is a 5 color screen print that will have an edition of 75 signed and numbered.

"The piece was created during our recent travels to Europe, specifically in Vienna, Austria 2014. It is the last piece of the OVERTHRONE! theme. We are pleased with marriage of concept and composition as well as the color theory/balance. The piece was a digitally created design paying homage to pre-computer, traditional graphic design. The concept is rooted in breaking down mythologies, and overthrowing power.

We wanted to create the final piece of art for the OVERTHRONE! campaign, ending with this print. The design suggests the infinite nature of mythologies of the mind and the power they wield." - Cyrcle

Library Street Collective Exhibit Z Show & Cyrcle Detroit Manifesto Print Release

No comments:

It's 2014 and Detroit is 313 years old. For the past year a massive artistic undertaking happened as artist from all over the world created murals for the parking structure and building known as the Z in downtown Detroit.  Library Street Collective recently opened a group show featuring artwork from all the participating artists. Covering a wide range of styles, techniques and mediums, artists from all over the globe gladly partook in one of the biggest urban and contemporary art shows Detroit has seen in a long time. Featuring works by such names as Dabs Myla, How Nosm, Interesni Kazki, Tristan Eaton, Cyrcle, Revok, Gaia, Remi Rough, Sam Friedman, Maya Hayuk, Augustine Kofie, Pose, Logan Hicks, and more, the exhibition is a colorful overview of the infinite creative energy from the 27 artists featured in this project. While the large murals created inside of “The Z “garage in downtown Detroit represented the street expression of their art, the sculptures, paintings and drawings exhibited at the LSC gallery showcased the participants’ fine art side. Ranging from surrealistic to expressive, abstract and futuristic, with lots of elements and influences of graffiti and urban art mixed in, the works in this show surely have something for everyone to enjoy. The exhibition is planned to be on view until the end of April

Library Street Collective would like to invite you to join them in celebrating 313 amazing years on with Cyrcle's beautiful one color hand pulled "Detroit Manifesto" silk screen on French paper. This unique and empowering message is also an homage to the "Spirit of Detroit" bronze sculpture created by Marshall Fredericks with a custom patina ink color and gold signature.

There is also a book by Detroit photographer Sal Rodriguez that documents the months of work that went into creating the murals

You can buy the print, book and any remaining art from the show on the Library Street Collective website

Cyrcle Rape of Sabine OVERTHRONE Print Release

No comments:

Another new artist to the 1xRUN roster debut's today. The two-man collective born out of Los Angeles, California in 2010 known as Cyrcle drop their new print as one of the Pow Wow 2014 Featured Artists

"This piece is part of our current series OVERTHRONE! Our first show in this series will debut at Stolen Space Gallery in London, the title of the first show is OVERTHRONE! POORING REIGN. The series explores symbols of power and the reign they have over our minds. We take these symbols of power and deconstruct them by either scrambling, glitching, redacting, or simply flipping them upside down in attempt to suggest overthrowing the reigns of power. The subliminal meaning of OVERTHRONE! is a call to action…to overthrow the powers of doubt and oppression in the mind, to let go of fear and take the power back!

The idea was conceived through the concept of OVERTHRONE! We have been studying and exploring ancient Greek and Roman art/sculptures that glorify power. Aesthetically we are returning to our roots…bitmapped imagery married with text. You can hang it upside down if you dare." - Cyrcle
