Like many promoters and artist Beyond the Pale has a strict policy of never reprinting posters. But they have made one exception due to the over whelming demand. Beyond The Pale did this poster way back in 2002.

Eddie Colla It's Only Stealing If You Get Caught Print Release

No comments:

Original piece by Eddie

1xRUN are excited to welcome back California artist Eddie Colla as he returns with "It's Only Stealing If You Get Caught". This piece was recently hijacked and bootlegged by Walmart (who mistook the piece for a Bansky piece, which they also apparently sell now.) In a move to reclaim his image Eddie has remixed his icon image for this RUN.

"Initially I felt good that with this image I had created something that seemed relevant to people. My second thought was something along the lines of “Shit, why do so many people feel subjugated in our society”. I think I was just surprised at the number and types of people who gravitated to it.

I made a piece about individuals controlling their own fate and not making their success contingent on the approval of others. It then gets adopted by a neo-feudal corporation like Walmart. A corporation whose employment practices have created a 2 million person underclass in this country. That’s where this becomes an issue of conviction. Walmart waves American Flags, kowtows to a hypocritical right wing Christian ideology but that’s merely a marketing strategy. If Walmart actually believed in any part of that ridiculous rhetoric they would certainly never put work by an artist like me in their stores." - Eddie Colla

1xRun: What’s next with this issue, what type of recourse do you have at this time?
Eddie Colla: These things can be expensive to fight. All the money from this release will go directly towards legal fees. This is just getting started. Wish me luck.

The print is an 18 x 24 Inches 3-Color Screen Print On 100lbs Cougar Fine Art Paper

Beyond the Pale has killer poster for sale that has been over 40 years in the making, The Who & The Small Faces Australian tour 1968 by Ian McCausland. This poster is a 1st edition offset print poster. It was designed for a music magazine cover back in 1968 & was scheduled to be used as the poster, stuff happened & it got delayed & didn’t happen, the art sat there until the artist decided to release it. I think he’s right to do so and as a Who fan I'm pretty excited

Rob Loukotka How Horrible Our Christmas Will Be Print Release World Premiere Exclusive

No comments:

Bottleneck Gallery in New York had Rob Loukotka create a brilliant Nightmare Before Christmas inspired print as part of their Cyber Monday festivities. The print is titled How Horrible Our Christmas Will Be, its' a 3 color screen print that is 36 x 12 inches with a signed and numbered edition of 170.

I asked Rob about the design

I'm a big fan of artwork that features the environment of a movie or story. Not just characters with floating heads. So this 36" wide Nightmare Before Christmas print is all about the amazing landscapes in the movie. Halloween Town, Christmas Town, the hinterlands area with the secret tree doors, and all the fun details in between. You can spot Jack Skellington as Santa Claus flying in the sky towards Christmas town, but the main focus here was showing the symmetry of the towns. Halloween town on the left, Christmas on the right. In the movie, each town has its own centerpiece, its own town hall, its own building styles, trees, objects. So Christmas Town is a mirror of Halloween Town and vise versa. It was super fun to draw, and it's being screen printed by VGKids on Madero Beach 100C French Paper.

On sale tomorrow Cyber Monday December 2 at 12pm EST on Bottleneckgallery.com. Also don't forget that all items from past Bottleneck Gallery shows are marked down by 30% until December 31st.
