‘Riders on the Storm’ is a beautifully dark jazz-rock anthem that became the soundtrack of the lives of a generation, and remains one of The Doors defining tracks. It is best known for its layers of sonic elevation from Ray Manzarek, John Densmore and Robby Krieger whom added jazz textures that left a distinct smoothness; and Jim Morrison's fiery poetic perforance.

They are the inventors of heavy metal, and set down the foundations for an entire genre with a pair of monumental releases in 1970. First, delivering their self-titled debut album Black Sabbath in June before cementing their legacy forevermore with one of the greatest sophomore records of all time, Paranoid, in September of the same year. It all culminated with a historic performance in Paris at the historic L'Olympia on December 20, 1970.
