No comments:

Here is a taste of what Audrey Kawasaki has been working on for her upcoming show at Space Yui in Tokyo opening on May 7th. She says on her blog that there will be about 10 paintings and drawings for the show. Looks like she’s continuing with the laser cutouts that we first saw at her “Drawing Room” show.

No comments:

There are a few Paul Insect DJ Shadow ‘Outsider’ posters are available at DJ Shadow’s website. There are only a small amount of these available. This is just one in a series of hand pulled prints from UK artist Paul Insect featuring artwork he designed for the DJ Shadow album “The Outsider.” This print features the large “Outsider” face, and is signed by both DJ Shadow and Paul Insect, with embossed logos next to each signature. All prints are hand numbered. Limited edition of 150. Print size approx. 19.5 x 27 inches. These beauties were discovered during a recent large clean up at the Shadow HQ. They found a bunch Large Face’s (yellow, green and orange) and a bunch of Multi Face’s (green or blue). Wicked opportunity to score a legendary stunner! Click on the images!!!

New Banksy Very Little Helps print for NNLS Charity Auction

No comments:

Banksy is at it again. This time he’s created a new piece to be auctioned off for another charity event. The NNLS auction is actually an “undies” auction where celebrities literally donate their “bottoms” to raise money for the charity at hand.

Sir Banksy managed to find another creative way to donate undies to the cause without revealing his waist size by remixing his “Very Little Helps” image that he revealed last year at POW’s Open Day and using a stencil of the “Union Jack” undies on a pole in place of the Tesco shopping bag. If you feel like sponsoring this cause, check out the auction here.

New CHUCK SPERRY LIPSTICK TRACES POSTER

No comments:

Well like I said earlier, Chuck is a friggin machine. What more can be said, just another badass piece of art here folks.

Chuck Sperry has been asked by Harvard University Press to design the cover of
"Lipstick Traces: A Secret History of The Twentieth Century" by Greil Marcus
His art will grace the cover of the 20th Anniversary Edition.
About the book:

Although the Sex Pistols shape the beginning and the end of the story, Lipstick Traces is not a book about music; it is about a common voice, discovered and transmitted in many forms. Working from scores of previously unexamined and untranslated essays, manifestos, and filmscripts, from old photographs, dada sound poetry, punk songs, collages, and classic texts from Marx to Henri Lefebvre, Marcus takes us deep behind the acknowledged events of our era, into a hidden tradition of moments that would seem imaginary except for the fact that they are real: a tradition of shared utopias, solitary refusals, impossible demands, and unexplained disappearances. Written with grace and force, humor and an insistent sense of tragedy and danger, Lipstick Traces tells a story as disruptive and compelling as the century itself.

"Lipstick Traces" with Sperry's cover will be released - October 15, 2009 - by Harvard University Press

Sperry will silkscreen a very special limited edition poster of the Lipstick Traces art.

Edition of 150 - 23" x 35" in 10 colors

This poster will be released at The Book Expo America in New York City, May 28-31, 2009

And will be available after the Book Expo on June 1, 2009 through www.station4.co.uk

Wheaty Wheat’s Going Out of Business Sale

No comments:

Another one bites the dust…First there was Cabin Fever in January and now there is Liquidation. I guess the end of Wheaty Wheat wasn’t shocking. The angst of artists and retailers unfolded on Twitter all morning. Sket-One confirmed the closure of the 8-year old company saying he just got released from his contract, which means, at this, the ninth hour, he’s finally able to promote his Buckeye Rot character independently. Buckeye Rot was tied to Wheaty Wheat for about three years and became the last production piece for the company.

As Wheaty Wheat liquidates its contents, prices for their current stock are beyond recession-proof: Buckeye Rots have been marked down to $10, Gris Grimly’s resin Pinocchio figures are a mere $3 and Brian Taylor’s keychains are the cost of a gumball: 25 cents. On the surface, that’s awesome. But that kind of drastic de-valuing affects our artists and stores. Any store that bought a crate of Buckeye Rots to sell at retail ($45) is screwed. The artists, who joined up with Wheaty Wheat mainly to see original toys get made, can’t offer their fans toys with collectable value. So what is there to do? Sket said that if you’re really struggling in this economy, scoop ‘em up from WW here. If you can afford to support the artist, he will soon have a bunch available at his website. Buying direct helps artists keep doing their thing, and he’ll even sign them. And if you’re down in Miami, show Sket some love at his < <

Even the rich folks in England love street art, but it's not Banksy

No comments:

An 18-year-old brit living about 2 hours outside of London had secretly painted a 60′ long drawing of a penis on the roof of his parents’ £1 million mansion in Berkshire. The 60 foot penis had been there over a year before his parents finally found out. The parents were not amused and have stated that their son will have to scrub it off when he gets back from traveling the world finding himself.

I don't even know what to say I'm laughing to hard.
