Here it is the first look at the 3 prints Rhys Cooper did for the Quentin vs. Coen Art Show opening tonight in New York. Rhys choose Bridget von Hammersmark and Shosanna Dreyfus from Inglourious Basterds along with The Bride from Kill Bill.

The show opens on Thursday, April 7th at Bold Hype Gallery in New York City and will be on view until Saturday, April 9th. They will be celebrating the opening night with a costume contest and complimentary “Caucasian” cocktails (White Russians).

About the imagery, Jermaine says:

'With so much revolution around the world lately... Egypt, Libya, Syria, etc, it got me thinking: what legitimizes 'armed' uprising in the world community's eyes? The USA and several other countries are now aiding the 'freedom fighters' in Libya: these rebels are fighting to take Libya back village by village. Violence is occurring now that we will no doubt hear about years later in scathing stories from the victims of war.

We revere the non-violent revolution of MLK for freedom, but each year on July 4th we celebrate the violent and armed rebellion that created this country. What justifies 'violent' revolution in our culture? When does a 'freedom fighter' become a 'terrorist'? Of course, it all depends on which side you're on. But why are you on that side? Because you were raised on a certain part of the planet? Because your parents, your teachers, or the 'god' you choose to worship tells you which side to be on?

If Mohandas had seen it necessary to struggle for his freedom with the closed fist rather than an open hand, would history condemn him for it? When fighting for the freedom and rights of a life that is being beaten into submission, when do you condemn a man who decides to hit back?

I have my own opinions, and I reserve the right to change them at a moment's notice. But images like this come out of these internal dialogues of mine, from time to time.'

Exclusive First Look Munk One Santanico Pandemonium Painting for Quentin vs. Coen - an art show tribute to Tarantino and the Brothers art show

One of my favorite artists Munk One did a painting for the upcoming show in New York and you get to see it first. Santanico Pandemonium is 22 x 28 inches, created with acrylic on canvas. Really stoked to see someone finally do a piece for From Dusk till Dawn and it has smoking hot Salma Hayek as the subject.

I asked M1 about the painting:

I chose to paint that character because she has great style and presence, no one in the room could take their eyes off of her. Even the name "Santanico Pandemonium" demands attention. I think I had always had that painting in the back of my mind.

Tyler Stout's Kill Bill On Sale Tuesday

Primus Santa Cruz poster Lottery Details

Primus & Mirv played a gig at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz, Ca. to help raise money towards Baby Matthew's hospital bills. He just wrapped a chemotherapy stint, he's 6 months old. It's heartbreaking.

Zoltron made a 5 color silkscreen poster. 150 posters sold out at the event.

2 variants of 20 are being released via an email lottery. A band signed version and an artist signed version.

Each person who signs up, will choose which release they prefer. You can sign up for both posters, but you can only sign up once for each. Sign ups end on April 8th at 12 PM (PST), at which point names will be chosen at random. Each chosen name will be sent an email and will have exactly 24 hours (from the time it was sent) to purchase their poster. These people will have exactly 24 hours to make the purchase, at which point the posters will be offered to someone else. No reminders will be sent.

All proceeds will be given directly to the Baby Matthew fund. Posters ship with Certificate of Authenticity.

Matt Straub Ka Pow Art Print on sale now at 1xRun

Look very closely at this Matt Straub work for a second or two. Now close your eyes and ask yourself this question: Whom did you identify with almost automatically? The shooter or the man being shot?

The iconography of popular culture - a nexus of symbols that any person raised on comics or graphic novels is familiar with - is a deceptively straightforward one. All we need is the context of plot and characters in order to validate the linear logic of correct actions and reactions. Without that context, however, there is only a surmise that a bullet has found the right trajectory of justice. The quick and the dead are almost instinctively translated to the right and the wrong.

The masked man in the picture doesn't seem that eager to voice an opinion. For that matter, would he have to?
