Charles Crisler Ray LaMontagne Santa Barbara Poster

No comments:

Charles Crisler has a sweet looking new poster for Ray LaMontagne.

Charles talks about the design:
As of late Santa Barbara seems to have become 27 Design Co's sister city. Short of our hometown, Indianapolis, we haven't designed more gig posters for a single city than Santa Barbara - and we LOVE it!!! We wanted to do something special and different which led us to three favs - motorcycles, girls, and surfboards. Seemed like the perfect recipe for a sunny California gig poster.
The poster is a 4-color screen print on 100C French Banana Split
Measures 24″ x 18″ and it's a signed & numbered edition of 140.

Charles Crisler Avett Brothers Austin SxSW Poster Release

No comments:

The Avett Brothers performed a couple of special shows for the guests of Austin's South by Southwest and they asked 27DC to design a poster to commemorate the occasion. For the design, Charles Crisler thought the fossil fuel rich state of Texas would be well represented by a dinosaur skeleton. And then he played a riff off of the Avett's song, "Down With The Shine".

4-color (including metallic gold) screen print on 100C Cougar Natural paper measuring 12" x 24" signed & numbered edition of 200

As a kid you couldn't stop me from drawing cars and trucks - really
anything with wheels. And as you can see lately, I've delved back into my
old passion.

You hear a lot about the '57 Chevy Bel Air car, but what about the truck?
Well, here you are - the 1957 Chevrolet 3100 pickup in a custom hue,
"farm-truck-red".

Charles Crisler The Avett Brothers Simsbury, CT Poster

No comments:

Charles Crisler of 27 Design Co. dropped his new Avett Brothers posters today. They are for the recent show in Simsbury, Connecticut.

Charles on the design:
I always dig the design of old guitars and amps, so I was really excited when I had the opportunity to illustrate and adapt an old Marshall amplifier into a gig poster for The Avett Brothers. Metallic gold ink adds to the vintage feel and really gives the amp and goldfish a cool texture.
The posters are  4-color (1 metallic ink ) screen print on Natural 100C paper measuring 18 x 24 inches. With a signed & numbered edition of200 (less available online)

Those of us that remember what a Walkman is will love this fresh poster design by Charles Crisler for Walk The Moon's show at Indianapolis Tuesday night. This is a really cool looking poster, well done Charles.

Charles on the poster"
I received my first Walkman cassette player back in the early 90s, and remember the freedom that it brought. I really wanted to harness that energy and wonderment into a poster, as I felt if fit the bands’ persona perfectly. The band’s name, Walk The Moon made for a nice play-on-words as well. Enjoy!

Charles Crisler Avett Brothers Santa Barbara Poster Release Details

No comments:

Charles Crisler has finished his first poster of the year and it is for the Avett Brothers concert in Santa Barbara Tuesday night.

I asked Charles about the design:
Believe it or not, this is my third Santa Barbara poster. I have such fond memories of this little town and the friends that I made while there last summer.

The band has a “Pretty Girl” song for almost every locale, so I thought I’d do a “Pretty Girl from Santa Barbara.” In truth, this pretty girl is a culmination of a lot of lovely ladies that I’m grateful for having entered into my life.

p.s. There’s also a little “Ballad of Love And Hate” in this poster for those looking for more lyrical references.
The poster is a 4 color screen print on Natural 100C paper measuring 18 x 24 in
With a signed & numbered edition of 200

Ray LaMontagne Santa Barbara Poster by Charles Crisler

No comments:

As the days and nights get colder seeing a poster like this Ray LaMontagne should help to warm you up a little bit. Charles Crisler talks about his inspiration for this beauty:
"This summer I spent a long weekend driving California’s Pacific Coast Highway north from L.A. to Santa Barbara. So when I was asked to do the Santa Barbara show poster for Ray’s 2014 “Supernova” tour I was over the moon!!! Aside from the visuals I grabbed on my trip, I based the poster around the lyrics, “Hitchin’ a ride down the PCH…”
And for you car nuts, that’s a ’58 Dodge Custom Royal. I wanted a late 50s rocket-inspired car and loved the two-tone paint and big fins on this guy."
The poster is  4-color screen print measuring 24 x 18 inches with a signed & numbered edition of 180. On sale at 9AM EDT at http://www.27designco.com/

Tonight The Avett Brothers are in Rogers, Arkansas and Charles Crisler of 27 Design Co did this kickass poster for the show. In 1977 Bandit and Snowman never made it as far north as Rogers, Arkansas, but I bet if The Avett Brothers were jammin’ the gears they would have. Avett Brothers Las Vegas Posters by Charles Crisler

No comments:

Charles Crisler just released his 3 posters for the recent Avett Brothers shows in Las Vegas. This series is drenched in metallics!!! Printed on metallic Silver Ore paper with 3 metallic inks – that’s 4 metallics for those following along at home! Charles figured if there was a time to go all glittery, it was Vegas. Charles knows how polarizing snakes can be, but he just could resist the imagery for a town nicknamed Sin City. To boot, the striped snake he chose is a Nevada native – the Mojave Shovel-nosed snake.

Each poster is 18 x 24 with a signed and numbered edition of 200.

Charles Crisler Conor Oberst Chicago Posters

No comments:

Charles Crisler of 27 Design Company released his 2 posters for Conor Oberst's recent shows at Chicago's Metro concert hall.

Charles on the posters :
It’s always a pleasure to work with the Metro and I was excited when they asked me to design a poster diptych for Conor Oberst’s 2-night stand in Chicago.

“Milk thistle, milk thistle, let me down slow, help me go slow, I’ve been carryin’ on. I’m not scared of nothin’, I’ll go pound for pound, I keep death on my mind, like a heavy crown.”

Those are the lyrics from Conor’s song Milk Thistle and the inspiration that got things rolling.

If you like this Night 1 print, be sure to check out Night 2, as well as the 24 x 36 inch uncut diptych.

The single night posters are 3-color screen prints measuring 12 x 24 inches with a signed and numbered of 65.

Avett Brothers St Louis Posters by Charles Crisler

No comments:

The Avett Brothers just finished up 3 concerts in St Louis and Charles Crisler did a triptych set of posters featuring each member the band for each night.

Charles on the design of the posters:

When I was approached to do the posters for The Avett Brothers’ 3-night stand in St. Louis I was truly elated as it was a gig I had had my eye on for a while. Getting things started conceptually, I found facts like Missouri being one of the most reachable destinations in the U.S. due to it’s central location and its vast number of shared state borders. The term “gateway to the west” stuck in my head as well. Travel and the relentless stamina for touring has become a reoccurring  theme in the art I create for the band and got me wondering if there was, or had been, a rail line running through St. Louis/Missouri. Sure enough there was, and the foundation of a concept was born.

Each poster is 12 x 24 with an edition of 200 with 5 colors and metallic silver ink.

Avett Brothers Santa Barbara & San Francisco Posters by Charles Crisler On Sale

No comments:

Santa Barbara

San Francisco

Charles Crisler of 27 Design Co just released a couple of his recent Avett Brothers posters for a couple of shows in California and they look great.

Charles on the Santa Barbara Poster :

One of the funnest design challenges is to create 2 posters that can both stand alone and also together to tell a larger narrative. So when The Avett Brothers gave me the nod to create both their Santa Barbara and San Francisco posters I started to salivate over the possibilities.

I was getting a real “surfer feel” for Santa Barbara as I did my research and I thought it would be cool to put the original 3 band members in a classic woody wagon – painted Carolina blue none-the-less.

Next up is the San Francisco Poster:

Rounding out the California diptych is this fun print I did for San Francisco. Trying to avoid the classic San Fran iconographies I chose a sailboat. To me nothing says home of the America’s Cup like a classic sailboat. And no boat is complete without a good ol’ water dog.

Check out the Santa Barbara poster to see how these two California prints compliment each other. Enjoy!

Both posters are 18 x 24 inches with a signed and numbered edition of 200.
