Artist statement:

One of Earth's most ancient creatures, green sea turtles spend their entire lives at sea, except when adult females come ashore to lay eggs several times per season every 2 to 5 years. From greens to loggerheads, six of the seven species of sea turtles are endangered at the hand of humans.

'Ahimsa' is the Sanskrit word for nonviolence or compassion. It is the principle and practice of nonviolence toward all living beings in one's thoughts, words, or deeds. As a concept, Ahimsa is the recognition of the dynamic unity of reality where all life is interconnected and interdependent.

"A human being is part of the whole, called by us “universe,” limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons close to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from our prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all humanity and the whole of nature in its beauty." - Albert Einstein

Both editions will be on sale Wednesday, February 1st at 12pm PST. at https://www.pangeaseed.foundation

"The Year of Living Dangerously is a is a truly unique project that enables us to reach
audiences that may otherwise not be exposed to the important environmental issues that are close to our hearts," says PangeaSeed founder Tre’ Packard. "Once the prints hang on
someone’s wall, they continue to act as conversation starters, and go beyond being just a
beautiful piece of art."

Over the past four years, PangeaSeed’s print suites have helped fund PangeaSeedFoundation’s programs, which shed light on pressing ocean environmental issues through art, design, and new media. Portions of the proceeds from this 2016 project will continue to support the Foundation’s efforts.

For those interested in collecting all 12 prints, PangeaSeed has a limited-time offer subscription to the complete series through February 15, 2016. "This print is based on a painting that I did in 2014, as part of the 'Mantradala' Series - exploring the connection between art and meditation. For this print, I really wanted to capture a sense of depth, which is something I'm constantly trying to achieve with my work. I've always been fascinated by optical illusions and color theory, so this is really the beginning of that exploration." - Cryptik

Cryptik The Jewel In The Lotus Print Release Details

No comments:

Cryptik, a Los Angeles based artist is back with 1xRUN today for an incredible release titled The Jewel In The Lotus.

"This print was inspired by a painting I did last year as part of the ongoing 'Mantra Mandala Series.' I recreated it using hand-painted color separations specifically for this release. This piece is part of a recent series that I've been exploring called the 'Mantra Mandalas,' where art can become a tool for meditation. These are printed on 100% cotton rag, using hand-painted color separations done in acrylic.

This is something I've been seeing in my mind, but I've always imagined the rings rotating like a Tibetan prayer wheel where each rotation is equivalent to reciting the mantra out loud. Hence, I decided to use the same mantra, OM MANI PADME HUM (the Jewel In the Lotus). Basically, this print is just a freeze frame of that vision." - Cryptik

This RUN is signed, numbered and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Cryptik and 1xRUN.

The prints are 29.5 x 29.5 Inches 4-Color Serigraph on 290gsm Coventry Rag Fine Art Paper. These prints are printed at Serio Press by master printer Tony Clough.

There will be two editions the standard with a run of 70. Then the baller Gold Leaf edition that will have a run of only 20 and it will be 5 colors.

Cryptik Ministry of Public Enlightenment Print On Sale

No comments:

The Buddha said, "Those who rejoice in seeing others observe the Way will obtain great blessing." A Sramana asked the Buddha, "Would this blessing be destroyed?" The Buddha replied, "It is like a lighted torch whose flame can be distributed to ever so many other torches which people may bring along; and therewith they will cook food and dispel darkness, while the original torch itself remains burning ever the same. It is even so with the bliss of the Way." - Sutra of 42 Sections

"This piece was created in February of 2013 and took about a month from sketch to finish. The MINISTRY OF PUBLIC ENLIGHTENMENT design features the praying hands of a Buddhist monk, draped in prayer beads and holding a candle lit with the Buddhist flame. This design really encompasses the philosophy behind the CRYPTIK MOVEMENT and everything I hope to accomplish, to LIGHT A FIRE!!!" - Cryptik
