Tatiana Suarez Mother of Coral Art Print Release

No comments:

PangeaSeed Foundation is pleased to announce the latest print release for their 2019 print project, "In Peril". Featuring original artwork by supporting ARTivist Tatiana Suarez (USA). This limited art print edition highlights the devastating impacts of climate change on coral reefs and the importance of protecting these fragile, yet incredibly important marine ecosystems.

Artist: Tatiana Suarez (USA)
Title: "Mother of Coral"
Dimensions: 16x20 inches full bleed with hand deckled edges
Each print is uniquely hand-embellished by the artist
Edition size: Limited edition of 50 plus 10 APs signed/numbered by the artist
Pricing: $75 plus shipping

Available: Wednesday, August 30, 2019 at 12pm PDT via shop.pangeaseed.org

Artist statement:
"The ocean is essential to all forms of life. I often depict women in my work as ocean deities who serve as the goddesses and protectors of the seas. This particular piece was inspired by the imagery of Our Lady of Sorrows, depicted in her mournful state. The arrangement of bleached coral frames her face similar to the way her cloak would. Iridescent, pearl-like tears stream down her face as she weeps in response to the human activity that directly contributes to climate change and its rapid impact on our oceans.

Coral reefs, known as the “rainforests of the sea,” are home to nearly a quarter of all marine life. Between the continuous absorption of CO2 emissions and the increasing acidity levels contributing to the warming of our oceans, coral reefs are bleaching and dying off at an alarming rate. At this continued pace, this crisis threatens the very existence of oceanic ecosystems and has a direct reflection on human resources."

Tatiana Suarez And PangeaSeed Sagrada Vaquita Print Release

No comments:

PangeaSeed is pleased to announce the latest print of the ongoing Sea of Change: The Year of Living Dangerously - Vol. 2 print suite by guest artist Tatiana Suarez (USA). The highlighted species of this edition is the critically endangered Vaquita Porpoise.

Tatiana Suarez
Title: "Sagrada Vaquita"
18x24 inches with hand-deckle edges
Fine art giclee print signed / numbered edition of 50 for $75 USD

Available Thursday, December 15, 2016, 12 pm PST at https://shop.pangeaseed.co/

Artist statement:
I was immediately drawn to the Vaquita Porpoise as soon as I came across its adorable face. I was also immediately heartbroken after researching the species. These beautiful creatures are currently considered the most endangered marine mammal in the world—with approximately only 60 remaining in the wild. At this rate, the Vaquita are estimated to be extinct within the next 5 years. Issues such as illegal fishing with the use of gil nets and climate change are the main reason for their decline. The window for saving the Vaquita is rapidly closing, but there’s still hope. Solutions such as choosing sustainable seafood while shopping and simply raising awareness on the pressing issue can help.

The Vaquita is only found in the uppermost corner of Mexico’s Gulf of California. Due to their name being of Latin origin along with their geography, I chose to depict the Vaquita in the gentle embrace of a saintly figure, similar to those found on Latin American prayer cards and candles. Having these cards in one’s possession and lighting these candles are viewed as a ritualistic observance for someone. This piece represents a prayer of hope and protection for these magnificent creatures.

Tatiana Suarez x PangeaSeed February Print Release Creature Tales from the Deep

No comments:

PangeaSeed and special guest artist Tatiana Suarez are pleased to announce the second official print release of our 2015 print suite "Tales from the Deep: Stories, Myths & Monsters" - a fine art print suite to help save our seas.

Artist: Tatiana Suarez
Title: "Creature"
Artist statement: "I chose to paint a tribute to the classic monster flick, The Creature From The Black Lagoon. Horror flicks are my favorite genre. I also enjoy the timeless tale of beauty versus beast. I find myself rooting for the Gil-Man throughout the film—admiring his appreciation for beauty and his voyeuristic tendencies. One can easily sympathize with his character because like many sea creatures, he's most likely the last of his species and in risk of extinction. The scientists in the film invade Gil-Man’s habitat, attempting to capture him yet fail, and in turn, kill him. This echoes man’s destructive tendencies towards the ocean and disconnection from nature, making humans the real monsters."

Edition size: 50 plus 5 AP
Print details: Archival cold press watercolor paper
Dimensions: 20”x 20” inch
Price: $65 USD - plus shipping (please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery)

Original artwork: 18x18in oil on wood panel also available for purchase.

Prints and original artwork will be available for purchase at 12pm PST Thursday, February 26, 2015 via shop.PangeaSeed.org

1xRUN Presents PangeaSeed's Sea Walls Mexico Expedition 2014

No comments:

100% of the proceeds from these releases will go towards the Pangea Seed/1xRUN Sea Walls Project in Isla Mujares Mexico 2014.

“Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans is a ground-breaking street art project created by PangeaSeed to bring the beauty and the plight of the world’s oceans into streets around the globe. By collaborating with internationally renowned artists, we create large-scale murals that focus attention on pressing environmental issues the oceans are facing. In collaboration with our friends at 1xRUN we are embarking on our biggest Sea Walls project yet. We’ve invited some of today’s biggest names in contemporary street art to join us on our first-ever Sea Walls expedition.

The mission of the expedition is to offer these artists the opportunity to swim with and study endangered whale sharks and oceanic manta rays off the coast of the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico from July 20-28, 2014. Inspired by their interactions with these majestic giants in the wild, the artists will create a series of large-scale public murals on the island to help educate and raise greatly needed awareness within the local and tourist communities for the plight of these animals and the oceans. The murals will also highlight the benefits of ecotourism and long-term sustainability of natural resources.” – Tre Packard of Pangea Seed

Tatiana Suarez Zobeida Print Release Details

No comments:

Tatiana Suarez returns to 1xRUN today with a new print release as one of the Pow Wow 2014 Featured Artists

"I'm fascinated by religious art. I have a collection of saints and prayer cards. I came across a photograph by Graciela Iturbide titled Nuestra Señora de las Iguanas. The woman in the photo— Zobeida — is portrayed as a saintly being, adorned by her iguanas. The photo itself is empowering and became a symbol of womanhood.

This was my first piece of 2014 and was created primarily for the upcoming Pow Wow event. The original will be showing at POW! WOW!: Exploring The New Contemporary Movement, curated by Andrew Hosner of ThinkSpace gallery." - Tatiana Suarez

Zobeida is 15 x 15 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Bright White Fine Art Paper with a signed and numbered edition of 50

Tatiana Suarez Happy Happy, Joy Joy Print and Original Artwork

No comments:

Tatiana Suarez's charming style is distinctive -- the trademark eyes draw the viewer into a beautiful and surreal world. Rich with symbols that stem from her Brazilian and El Salvadorian heritage, subjects appear as if they are under water, frozen in lovely stillness. For her latest 1xRUN she has returned with Happy Happy, Joy Joy an homage to one of her favorite 90s cartoons.

"This piece was inspired by Ren & Stimpy, which I loved so much growing up. The idea for this piece came about after watching some of their most recent Lost Episodes. These are much grosser, risqué and perverse versions of the show, geared towards adults rather than children. They weren't as great as the past episodes, but it still sparked inspiration for a a piece. Also, the fact that my dog is the embodiment of Ren, it's an idea that's been floating around for while now. The original painting itself is no longer available, it sold very recently during Art Basel a few weeks ago. This was the first piece in a long time that I started for myself, not for any shows. It was meant to be a fun, experimental piece, full of more expressive brush marks and a complex composition." - Tatiana Suarez

Happy Happy, Joy Joy and some original work will all be on sale Saturday at NOON EST at 1xRUN.com

Tatiana Suarez and Craww Through the Veil Show at Spoke Art San Francisco

No comments:

"Through the Veil" - new works by Tatiana Suarez and Craww

Spoke Art is proud to present, "Through the Veil" - a two person exhibition featuring new paintings by Tatiana Suarez (Miami) and Craww (UK) which will debut on Thursday, October 3rd at our Sutter St. gallery location.

Though both artists draw from different inspirations, Tatiana being from Miami and Craww being from Sheffield in the UK, the two artists' depiction of the female form both represent a fragile and haunting subject, albeit with distinct stylistic differences.

Tatiana's subjects, doe-eyed vixens depicted through a traditional pop-surrealism lens, expand on the artist's Cuban heritage with a tropical palate of greens and yellows, interacting with the flora and fauna of the rainforest. The artist's history as muralist, painter and illustrator come together much like an "ajiaco", a traditional Cuban stew comprised of diverse ingredients, to inform her new body of oil and acrylic paintings on paper and canvas.

Craww, who was born and raised in the United Kingdom, creates haunting and beautiful works. His subjects have a delicate fragility, depicted with extended matchstick limbs, entwined in a bed of ravens and roses, both recurring elements found throughout his paintings. His women are shown primarily with their eyes closed (a stark contrast to Tatiana's), resting in what can be interpreted as either a peaceful slumber or a welcome death.

For their second feature showing with the gallery, both artists have expanded on their traditional oeuvres: Craww has created several masterful works utilizing oil paints, a dynamic and evolutionary growth for the artist whose haunting imagery is benefitted even more so than usual by the new medium.

Tatiana Suarez, informed by her recent stint in Brooklyn as well as several new mural projects, has grown in skill and imagery exponentially with this exhibition. Suarez has been showing with the gallery since the very beginning (our second show ever) and has quickly become a fan favorite.

Please join Spoke Art Thursday, October 3rd for the opening night reception of "Through the Veil." Both artists will be in attendance.

Tatiana Suarez Clutch Print Release Details

No comments:

"Clutch" is a portrait created for Lush Natura a two person show with works by Jason Levesque and myself at MyPlasticHeart in New York City. This piece is simply a continuation of a common theme of mine - an appreciation & exploration of the juxtaposition between doe-eyed beauties and their loathed critters. I was inspired by my model's pose and features -- and adorned her with a natural selection of jewels made up from a clutch of pearly moth eggs, web and water. I think it's a great quality print, and a striking image. I also plan on adding some simple hand embellishments to each print to make each unique and varied." - Tatiana Saurez

Clutch is a 17 x 14 Inches Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper with a signed and numbered edition of 50

Tatiana Suarez Flora Hand-Embellished Edition Print On Sale Today

No comments:

"I'm actually in the process of planning my wedding. In my ' Wedding Shit ' desktop folder, I've got an awesome collection of flower photos. Flower arrangements, colors, and bouquets galore! The fruit and flower combinations sparked the idea for this print. This one is a special one for me because silkscreens limit my color use, so there's going to be a lot of hand painting goodness added to each print. I've been feeling nostalgic of my hometown of Miami, so naturally…oranges and iguanas, oh my." - Tatiana Suarez
