No comments:

The guys from Spiegelsaal have put up some new posters from a lot of different bands in their store at https://spiegelsaal.net/en/

BLOOD RED SHOES
German tour poster, 2019
50 × 70 cm (19.7 × 27.6″) 2 color screen print on 300 gsm Design Offset paper
Print run: 75 s/n

The poster pretty much sums up the turmoil that was the recording of the last record and the essence of the record’s lyrics.

PUDER SESSION TAPES 5
Gig poster, Hamburg, Germany, 2019
50 × 70 cm (19.7 × 27.6″) 4c screen print on 300gsm Design-Offset paper.
Print run: 46 s/n

Hamburg based Catharina Boutari a.k.a. Puder, musician, composer, record label owner and general jill of all trades is the master mind behind the so called SESSION TAPES, where she takes over a small venue for a couple of days and invites fellow musicians to write and record an album on the fly. Eventually, the new songs are performed in front of a small, selected live audience.
For SESSION TAPES NO. 5, Catharina asked Spiegelsaal, to come up with an corresponding gig poster.
Taking the production process into consideration, they created this "cabin in the magic woods“.

 SLEAFORD MODS – ETON ALIVE
German tour poster, 2019
50 × 70 cm (19.7 × 27.6″) 2c screen print on different 300 gsm stocks
First edition: 100 s/n
Second edition:   60 s/n

"Mint on chamois" and "Old Etonian Blue on grey" are the remaining color combinations of Spiegelsaal's poster for the Mods.
The ol' Marxist term of "character masks" gets a new spin, when pop culture's favorite cannibal, the Brexit and it's Old Etonian protagonists are involved.

 KOWLOON WALLED CITY

New Posters from Spiegelsaal

No comments:

Torsten & Jochen of Spiegelsaal have a bunch of new posters for sale.

First one is their German tour poster for Sleaford Mods, which is in the shop since today.

Face melt! She is not amused, no, not at all. With colors based on the color code of the UK royal mail.

2- and 3- color screenprint on 300 g/m2 design offset paper and 300g/m2 cardboard.
Format: 50 x 70 cm
Edition: 107 s/n

Very few of the posters remain, the rest was sold on tour.

Next is Mogwai and an art print.

We just came back from Flatstock Barcelona, taking place again at the PrimaveraSound Festival. For us, it's the most enjoyable of all Flatstock. Hanging out at the mediterranean sea until 4 in the morning, with a fantastic line up of bands and poster artists, what's not to like.

We were lucky to do a poster for the festival show of one of our favorite band's, Mogwai.
Those who have been to PrimaveraSound will instantly recognize the massive brutalist concrete structure, that is the landmark of the whole festival ground, not being able to withstand zero gravity. -TJ
It's a fierce 3- color screenprint on 300gsm Design Offset paper,
with two day-glo-oranges and black.
Size: 50 x 70 cm
Edition: 50 s/n

New art print
For the fourth year in a row, we were included in Serigrafia Monostereo's festival demonstration screen printing. They printed the final color of our new art print "No need to suffer silently" at the festival. It's a smaller version with different colors of our Viet Cong/Preoccupations gig poster from 2016.
3-color screenprint on Arjowiggins Inuit 300gsm bone color
Size: 35 x 50 cm
Edition: 76 s/n

In their shop now:

Lastly

We made this poster for the european tour of the power pop / punk rock double bill Radioactivity and Bad Sports. Quite contaminated, 4 different versions and some day-glo involved.
4c-screenprint (3 split fountains + black) on 300 gsm Design Offset paper.

Spiegelsaal Flaming Lips Berlin Poster

No comments:

The duo that make up Spiegelsaal of Torsten Jahnke and Jochen Mönig have a crazy new poster for the recent Flaming Lips concert in Berlin.

More is more, when you print a poster for the Flaming Lips.
Nothing short of being their most ambitious printing project so far: 3 day-glo-colors, 2 metallics, 2 versions:
Day-glo-orange/green/magenta, blue metallic, dark-violet
Gold, day-glo-green/magenta, blue metallic, dark-violet

Plus they added some genuine UnicornShit to some of the posters. Really bad idea, the print shop is full of glitter now according to Torsten !

Suuns and Warpaint Posters By Spiegelsaal

No comments:

Torsten Jahnke and Jochen Mönig of Spiegelsaal have been busy creating posters.

SUUNS gig poster, Le Guess Who? Festival, Utrecht, Netherlands

70 × 50 cm (27.6×19.7")
4-color screenprint on antique white 300 gsm Design-Offset paper in 2 versions:
- Yellow, Orange, Black, Red (35/50 s/n)
- Day-Glo-Yelllow, Orange, Black, Red (15/50 s/n)

»...repetition, and unsettling deviations of said repetition...«
SUUNS’ descriptions of their music lead to Spiegelsaal's first canary-motive-poster, at last!

They curated a part of one of their favorite festivals, the fantastic Le Guess Who? in Utrecht, Netherlands.
Their great closing show on Sunday night was also the last show of their current European tour and needed a proper poster to celebrate this.
Which gave Spiegelsaal the possibility to live out one of their secret obsessions....canaries! Or...Astro-Canaries?
They have a few copies left in their shop: http://www.spiegelsaal.net/eng/shop/sps-027-e/

Next up is Warpaint.

WARPAINT

Spiegelsaal Kowloon Walled City And Minsk German Tour Poster

No comments:

Spiegelsaal is Torsten Jahnke and Jochen Mönig who are friends of Alexander Hanke have released their German tour poster for the sludge double package Kowloon Walled City and Minsk.

I asked Torsten about the design:
In this case, we worked quite literally with the band name.

kowloon walled city was a settlement on the outskirts of hong kong, that was built by it's inhabitants on the fly.
no architects or city planing was involved. living conditions were accordingly. it was torn down by HK authorities in the 1990s.
from a far, the whole thing really looked like a guitar amp dropped on it's back.
so the idea was to create an image, that brings housing blocks and stacks of amps together, as both bands have a very heavy sound and are quite the equipment fetishists.
hence the streets made from guitar cables, the sun that also is a knob and we also sneaked an image of the current album cover in there.

Here are the details on the posters
50 × 70 cm (19.7 × 27.6")
3-color screenprint on silver 300 gsm Folia paper (gold/red, black, transparent silver)
2 variations
Overall print run: 60 s/n 30 of each color.
