Lightbox Print Co Building the 804 Print Release By Sally Centigrade Gallery

No comments:

Sally Centigrade Gallery is going to Richmond, Virginia with their latest Travel By Screen print.

Artist: James and Meredith Hill of Lightbox Print Co.
Title: Building the 804
Size: 18” x 24” Signed & numbered limited edition of 25 4 layers (CMYK), screen printed by hand on Pure White French Paper
Price: $50.00

Available Friday September 7th at 10:00am Mountain Time in the Sally Centigrade Gallery Store HERE.

Print Description: Richmond, the heart of the 804 area code, is a medium size city rapidly putting itself on the map alongside some respectable large cities as one of the top places to visit for its award- winning food and craft beer scene, thriving arts and creative community, downtown riverside adventures and historic architecture (along with its interesting and infamous history as the capital of the Confederacy). This print captures the city’s amalgamation of old and new through an architectural sense – one of the buildings stands as one of the tallest and oldest in the city yet is vacant while another is one of the city’s newest and hottest boutique hotels, both residing only within a couple blocks of each other.

**The 804 is subtly shown vertically in the windows of the blue building on the left**
Statement/Bio: Married printmakers Meredith and James Hill (working together under the name Lightbox Print Co.) produce bold, contemporary works out of their studio in Richmond, VA. All of their work is screen printed and registered by hand the old fashioned way and based off their own drawings and photographs. Drawing from and inspired by their backgrounds in architecture and design, the content of their work is influenced by their often-pondered question of what gives a place its character – something they have always loved to investigate by traveling on foot with a camera and sketchbook – then documenting through their own lens and style via their artwork.

The couple share in the various steps of their collaborative printmaking process from the conceptual development of an idea to the separation of color layers to the final printing, allowing one or the other to take the lead on drawing, mixing ink colors or pulling the squeegee depending on the needs and aesthetic of each particular print.

Joshua Kolbow Big Boss Poster Release From Sally Centigrade Gallery

No comments:

Here is Sally Centigrade Gallery's 26th release in the Travel By Screen series! Seems appropriate that a piece inspired by North Dakota would be the state to cross the hump, its a state of transition and Scott of SCG can't think of a better place to take us into the 2nd half of this project. Any traveler he has known that road tripped west described the dramatic transition out of Minnesota, and being enveloped by the vast planes and wide open spaces of the Roughrider state.

Artist: Joshua Kolbow

Signed and Numbered edition of 29
4 Color Screen print on Construction Whitewash French Paper

Joshua Kolbow is an illustrator and printmaker currently based in North Dakota. Working predominantly in Linocuts, he has gained recognition for his fine art prints. Joshua uses traditional pen and ink and hand-carving methods to create lavishly detailed, black and white political satires. Taking influence from popular culture, comics, posters, as well as illustrators such as Frank Frazetta, Arthur Adams, Simon Bisley, along with printmakers Albrecht Durer, Ray Gloeckler, and Tom Huck, Joshua creates his own alternative, more truthful American narratives. Joshua has participated in several group exhibitions and print portfolios and is an active attendee of the Mid America Print Conference and the Southern Graphics Council. He has even won a few awards for his prints, most recently being 2nd Place in the New Impressions Print Competition.

Michaela Goade Tongass Tides Print Release From Sally Centigrade Gallery

No comments:

Here is latest print in Sally Centigrade Gallery's Travel By Screen Series, where a poster is made for a popular area code for each state. Alaska, while vast, has only one area code (907). However, due to an array of unique landscapes and indigenous cultures, the state is divided into 5 distinct regions (Far North, Interior, Southwest, Southcentral, and Southeast). This poster represents Southeast Alaska, where mountains meet sea in a thin strip of land and islands sandwiched between Canada and the Pacific ocean. The Tongass National forest covers most of the region – a beautiful, magical rainforest full of fjords, glaciers, isolated towns and villages, and wildlife. And in this region, so much of life revolves around the symbiotic relationship between forest and ocean, a relationship that encompasses everything from tides, changing seasons, to animal migrations. This ebb & flow creates the foundation for life and culture in Southeast Alaska.

 Artist: Michaela Goade
Title: Tongass Tides
French Paper, 100# Cover, White
2 color screen print measuring 18" x 24"
Edition of 100

Bio: Michaela Goade is a freelance graphic designer and illustrator raised and based in Juneau, Alaska. She works with a variety of clients on projects ranging from logo/identity design to packaging design, from art prints to children's book illustrations. She is of Tlingit heritage (a tribe in Southeast Alaska), of the Kiks.adí (Raven/Frog) clan, and her heritage and love for Southeast Alaska are a huge inspiration for her work.

Arna Miller Denver 303 Print Release From Sally Centigrade

No comments:

This coy fellow wants you to see what he’s got. This poster featuring a cat and a beer is part of the “Travel By Screen” series hosted by Sally Centigrade Gallery. It celebrates a fun Denver fact on any given day, more beer is brewed in Denver than in any other city in the US. What do cats have to do with Denver and beer? That’s for you to decide.

This screen print is made up of seven translucent colors, layered to make the illusion of many colors. The drawing of the cat and beer is drawn and shaded in pencil, then 6 more drawings are made, one for each color that will be printed.

Arna Miller is a Denver screen print artist, using her own drawings to illustrate an often humorous, often thought-provoking scene, featuring an interesting character in a noteworthy situation; with the guidelines of “possible, but not likely.” Her drawing and design technique are informed by the medium of screen printing.
