New Art Prints By Justin Santora

The first print, "Strident/Particular", was done for a group exhibition focused on celebrating the medium of screen printing. The artist lineup for this show was excellent, and Justin was stoked to have been included in it. Oddly enough, he found working on this print was a great way to sort of reconnect with the printing process, as corny as that might sound. He always gets excited watching prints come together color by color, but he recalls having just an extra bit of fun as these colors went down.

The print is ten colors, with one split fountain, and the top two transparent teal-colored layers are printed in a gloss finish, which looks pretty slick against the more flat/satin finish of the preceding colors.

And now for something completely different.

"The Weather in Caerbannog" is a six color screen print that was done for a recent exhibition of all things Monty Python. When invited to be in an officially licensed Monty Python show, he couldn't resist doing a big old landscape depicting the notoriously murderous Rabbit of Caerbannog from the Holy Grail film.
I first saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail in high school with my friend Brian, who'd brought a copy on VHS over to my house to watch after we'd finished skateboarding for the day. I recall howling with laughter at this scene, and just thinking about it now is making me grin. - Justin
