New Posters By Alexander Hanke

No comments:

Alexander Hanke has 3 new posters and an offer for a free print as well.

1) Earth Dog
In order to celebrate the upcoming festivities of the Chinese New Year Alexander is releasing a print called "Earth Dog“. And to cherish this event you can get one for free with every new order between now and February 18th. No code needed, just order something in his shop and you become a happy dog owner. 2018 stands in the star sign of the dog, in combination with the earth. This correlation evoked one of his earliest childhood memories, the story of the dog Laika which was shot into space in 1957. As a child he imagined a heroic dog in her little space suit, that is entering the space ship to report about the cosmos to mankind. A wonderful picture how humans and animals work together.

Alexander Hanke Schindelhauer Bicycle Art Prints

No comments:

Together with the bike manufacturer Schindelhauer Alexander Hanke released the first run of bicycle themed posters. The aim is to create a print for each model in their catalog to celebrate unique details of every bike. The first batch contains a regular version for the brand itself, one for a bike called "Ludwig" and one for the ladies version called "Lotte“. As fan of the vintage travel and European posters I really dig these.

Alexander Hanke Chuck Ragan & Julie Byrne Posters

No comments:

Alexander Hanke has released a couple of good looking new posters, read to learn more.

Chuck Ragan - Rolling Stone Weekender
Chuck has a song that’s called „Something may catch fire“ and this one was spinning in my head mixed with the knowledge of hie love to the forest. I choose to display a deer because he might be the king of the forest but is on the other hand very skittish and vulnerable. It’s an great analogy to the music of Chuck Ragan, these are sensitive songs performed by and energizing figure.
Price: 25€
Edition: 100
Screens: 5
Size: 40x60cm / 15.7x23.6in
Paper: Olin Smooth, Cream 250gsm
https://www.zumheimathafen.com/shop/gig-poster/chuck-ragan/

Julie Byrne
Story behind the print: In an interview I read that Julie is constantly on the road, mainly crossing the USA from left to right and sees all kinds of vegetation. Since it’s just her and a guitar this image started to evolve in my head. That’s why I tried to incorporate different vegetation zones in the print.
Price: 25€
Edition: 65
Screens: 4
Size: 40x60cm / 15.7x23.6in
Paper: Olin Smooth, Cream 250gsm

No comments:

Check out these posters Alexander Hanke is releasing on Monday, including one for Bill Murray. Yes that Bill Murray.

The first is a design for a Tattoo & Cycle Convention called „Ink&Ride“ in Hamburg, Germany. They asked Alexander to exhibit there and if he could design something in that realm for their promotion online and offline.
Size: 40x60cm (15.7x23.6 inch)
Price: 30€
Edition: 60
Screens: 5

Second print is for a concert of Bill Murray (yes the actor) and Jan Vogler this past Friday at the Elbphilharmonie. The standard edition is sold exclusively at the Elbphilharmonie shop and Alexander have a Variant edition on matte black paper stock.
Size: 40x60cm (15.7x23.6 inch)

I asked Alexander what the Bill Murray concert was and he had this to say:"I’m super curious too, it’s said that he’ll be singing, dancing and reading. The main focus is, that he’ll be reading American classic novelists and a friend is playing classical music on his cello in the meantime."

All of them will be on sale Monday at www.zumheimathafen.com

Alexander Hanke Feist A Summer’s Tale Festival Luhmuhlen Poster

No comments:

Alexander Hanke has a new poster up for sale, made for the Feist concert at the "A Summer’s Tale" festival in Luhmühlen, Germany.

The poster has an edition of 100 for 30€ each and is printed on 250gsm Olin smooth paper.
The variant edition is limited to 15 copies for 45€ printed on 300gsm matt night blue paper.
Size 40 x 60cm / approx. 15,5 x 23,5inch

Story:
After listening to the new record and reading some interviews two things stayed in my head. First the change from acoustic guitar to electric and it plays a huge role next to Feist’s voice. It seems like the rest of the instruments linger around the guitar play, the plant is a symbol for that part. The second big focus are the lyrics that are more dull since they seem to have their origin from a dark/depressive phase, symbolized by the grey clouds. But these dark thoughts pass by, they occur and they fade away, it’s a fluid process. Since the record is an reflection on the past, the head looks back in reminiscence.

Alexander Hanke Deftones Cologne Germany Poster Release

No comments:

Alexander Hanke has a new poster he designed for the Deftones show in Cologne, Germany last week.

Deftones / Cologne
Standard Edition: 100
250gsm smooth off-white paper by Olin
Price: 30€

Variant Edition: 10
270gsm matt black paper by Papyrus
Price: 45€

Details from Alexander on the poster:
The poster is made for the Deftones show in Cologne on the 1st of May. Unfortunately the show never took place because of an accident by singer Chino Moreno. He broke his foot during a stage dive at the Groezrock Festival in Belgium a day before the show. Therefore it is the first time this print is available to the public. In my eyes it’s funny coincidence that the concert should have taken place on „May Day“ the one day a year where know one should work.
On sale now at https://www.zumheimathafen.com/shop/gig-poster/deftones/

Alexander Hanke Notwist and Cloud Nothings Posters

No comments:

Alexander Hanke has a couple of  cool looking new posters on sale and lets you know the story behind the design.

01 The Notwist:
The idea is a clash of images but mainly based on a recent live recording The Notwist released, which is called „Supervillains & Ghost stuff“. The idea for that title is based on the book/TV-series called „The Sea Wolf“ by Jack London. Where one of  main characters is the antithesis to Nietzsches „Übermensch" or super-man. That picture of a super-man figure got stuck in my head and also that another part of the cast in the book runs ashore on a lost island. In the end the super-man character drifted more in a direction of an ape because of a track by The Notwist called „Kong“.
Limited edition of 85 prints, printed on 250gsm smooth paper by Olin. Price 25,00€

02 Cloud Nothings
The idea behind this print is mainly based on the band name. The atmosphere colours are a contradiction to Cloud Nothings low-fi and unpolished sound. Also that the bright world the caracter lives in is broken by this fallen cloud.
Limited edition of 80 prints, printed on 250gsm smooth paper by Olin. Price 25,00€

Alexander Hanke Tiger Lou Poster And Mystery Tube Release

No comments:

Alexander Hanke has a gig poster releasing this Friday. It’s for a Swedish band called Tiger Lou. It’s mainly the project of a guy by the name of Rasmus Kellerman, he has been absent for over 7 years and just released a fantastic new record. The print is based mainly on one track of this record, that’s called „You town“ and deals with memories, isolation and affiliation. Alexander choose that one because the show takes place in his hometown and he has pretty similar memories about it.
Specs: 40x60cm / 4 colors / 250gsm Olin extra smooth / Edition of 50

Right Alex has released his first Mystery Tube, it’s more a box but printed all over. It contains 4 gig poster from different years / 1 art print / 3 cards / 2 sticker.

Alexander also has something like a Christmas calendar thing going on in the social media waves and in the shop. He will display, sell and gift some rarities and some great new stuff. He's been been digging in the archive and found sold out prints or artist proofs from The Thermals, I Am Kloot, the Notwist, Blood Red Shoes, Sigur Rós and many more. Each day another one gets revealed.

You can find all of the above here: www.zumheimathafen.com/shop/christmas-special

Alexander Hanke Nada Surf and More Posters

No comments:

Alexander Hanke has three new posters check them out.

1) Okkervil River @ Rolling Stone Weekender - Weißenhäuser Strand
http://www.zumheimathafen.com/shop/gig-poster/okkervil-river
Edition 60 / Price 25€
4 screens on 250gsm Olin smooth
The idea is behind the illustration is a combination of the area and the latest record. The show took place at the Rolling Stone Weekender Festival on the Baltic Sea. The brushes in the front are called seabuckthorn and are very famous in that region and it’s only one dune to walk to see the beach. The whole record itself deals a lot with the past and this is where these lost souls come to play.

2) Nada Surf + Babelsberg Film Orchestra
http://www.zumheimathafen.com/shop/gig-poster/nada-surf-potsdam
Edition 80 / Price 25€
4 screens on 250gsm Olin smooth
„Inside of love“ is one of Nada Surf's huge hits and this is also the inspiration for that illustration. The lyrics deal with the search for love, the aim to find a way in. The violin shape obviously stands for the Orchestra, kind of their view on the music but it also symbolises the name of the track - „Inside of love“.

3) Tortoise @ Le Guess Who? - Utrecht
http://www.zumheimathafen.com/shop/gig-poster/tortoise
Edition 70 / Price 25€
3 screens on 250gsm Olin smooth
The idea behind this one is pretty simple in the end, nothing compared to the complexity of the music. It’s based on their actual press photo, where all of the guys are standing on the shore with umbrellas. Since I experience their music more like a force than a wisp of wind, the umbrellas are ripped apart in an restless sea.

Please Welcome Alexander Hanke New Blog Sponsor

No comments:

German artist Alexander Hanke is friends with Lars P Krause who told Alexander to check out the blog. Alexander is an art director and graphic designer in the field of Graphic and Packaging Design.
Some years ago he was born in the wild lands of east Germany. Early on he discovered how to eat a yummy pencil and what to do with funny stuff like paper and walls. So he started working for different clients back in the early days of 1998, long before he moved out to Cologne and afterwards to the small city of Hildesheim to graduate in Corporate Design in 2008. In the same year he established the label “Zum Heimathafen” to separate his art driven mind from the day-to-day graphic design job.
At the moment Alexander is working as a freelance artist and creating posters, shirts or flyers as well as Corporate Design and packaging solutions for clients around the world.

So put your hand together and welcome Alexander as a new sponsor on the blog. Head over to his website to see all his work www.ZumHeimathafen.com
