A BUNCH of new posters out today, from Nakatomi regulars Jacob Borshard and Jon Smith!

No comments:
Above is pictured “FIRE WALK WITH ME” an 18×24 4 color screenprint, signed and numbered by Jon in an edition of 100. Originally produced for Gallery 1988′s Crazy for Cult show in NYC last month, this tribute to TWIN PEAKS is now available to haunt your walls and dreams.

All this and Heaven Too” is an 18×24 art print version of Jon’s hit Florence and the Machine print from earlier this year!

“I DO COCAINE” is a uh…cocaine mirror. Really.  Inspired by Doctor Rockso from Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse, this piece was made for Gallery 1988 and Adult Swim’s January 2012 group show in Los Angeles.  The mirrors are 12×12 square and are signed and numbered by Jon in a tiny edition of only 50

These new prints are all available RIGHT NOW in the Jon Smith section of the Nakatomi store!

Above is pictured ‘Ciclista Matches’ a painstakingly restored version of a Swedish matchbook from the 1800′s, the very dawn of cycling!  (According to him, at least… we here at Nakatomi believe bicycles were given to us by ancient aliens in Mesopotamia…but that’s neither here nor there).  This matchbook recreation combines our two favorite things here at Nakatomi- riding bikes and setting things on fire! Print measures 16×24 and is signed and numbered by Jacob in a tiny edition of only 50.
Jacob’s second new print reproduces an antique 1800s era Swedish matchbook label featuring an early wax cylinder phonograph machine!
Print measures 16×20 in an even tinier edition of only 40!
his electric-neon Virgin Mother is Jacob’s recreation of what is considered the FIRST EVER depiction of the Virgin de Guadalupe- printed as the cover of a religious pamphlet entitled ‘Huei Tlamahuitzoltica’, written in native Nahuatl and published by Luis Lasso de la Vega in 1649.  Featuring 2 split fountains!
These prints and more are available right now in the Jacob Borshard section of the Nakatomi store!

“The Giant in the Boulders” art print by Jacob Borshard On Sale Now

No comments:

It’s been a bit since Jacob had a new print up for sale, and Nakatomi are SUPER happy to have him on back in the studio!  Between turning his car into a Batmobile (SEE IT HERE) and going on an international tour to promote his music (and you know…see Europe), he’s been a busy dude!
This brand new print by Jacob Borshard depicts everybody’s favorite Giant, doing what Giants do best; lurking among boulders, waiting to ambush pursuing pirates with a swift skull crushing boulder straight to the head. Of course, our Giant may choose a more sportsmanlike approach . . .

Here’s a pic of the print, fresh from the press, in it’s untrimmed state! What you might not be able to see is the super-high gloss varnish that Jacob mixed into the print, giving it a really nice finish to it all!

Artist pulled, signed and numbered, four colors, two split fountains, heavyweight paper, 12″ by 24″, edition of 140- available in the JACOB BORSHARD section of the Nakatomi store RIGHT NOW!

Jacob Borshard’s ‘$10,000 Bike Reward’ poster and Bike-O-Rama shirt on sale now

No comments:

Jacob Borshard’s print above is limited to just 50 signed and numbered copies, and the 20 copies he brought to Flatstock Austin last month BLEW OUT of there, so he only has 30 now for sale. The T-shirt is a pre-sale item, and will be limited to 100 copies worldwide, and will ship within 2 weeks of the orders placed.

I can PRETTY MUCH guarantee every penny Jacob receives from this sale will go to helping him craft his completely insane Batmobile project. Yes he is turning his Miata into a 60's Batmobile, it is pure engineering genius, read about it HERE. Think of this as a Kickstarter, but better than some stupid books for schoolchildren in Texas program.

Both the t-shirt and poster are available NOW in the Jacob Borshard section of the Nakatomi store HERE.

“Gods of the South Seas” Tiki print! by Jacob Borshard on sale

No comments:

Jacob Borshard presents one hundred and eighty small Polynesian Gods in a mind-boggling screen print that pushes the known limits of fitting a whole boatload of Gods onto a single sheet of paper.

‘Being a portable depiction of the various Idols catalogued by Sir Beebort York aboard the H.M.S. Terrier, helmed by the esteemed Captain George Blueberry, upon his recent explorations of the last unseen waters of the far South Seas. Engraved by J. Shardsley for the Encyclopaedia Novus Plumbeus, 1790. Additional copies available for two penny apiece from Gooseberry Bros. Ltd., London.’

Much more than simply a scribbling of imaginary deities, this print is in fact a meticulous catalogue of every single Tiki depicted in the famed 1946 Metropolitan Museum of Art book ‘Arts of the South Seas’ (also known as the ‘Tiki Bible’). Jacob went from cover to cover and painstakingly reinterpreted every single image from in the book. The results are presented here in (roughly) chronological order. He did it because he is insane. But the print is gorgeous!

Edition of 40 three color artist-pulled signed and numbered prints. Measures 18″ by 30″

Available for purchase HERE.

Jacob Borshard newest Nakatomi Release, “The Sinking of the Oruko Ship”

No comments:

Jacob Borshard intensely labored for a week in Nakatomi Print labs to bring the world his newest 8 color print- "The Sinking of the Oruko Ship"

Measuring 18x24, this print is available in a signed and numbered edition of 40 worldwide. This Ukiyo-e style print has the Japanese text of that classic traditional poem, translated below-

Mer-man rose from the murky depths,
He turned our ship over and ate it up,
The waves washed me to the rocks,
Where a shell diver found me,
And took me to her Grandfather's hut.
I was ill for weeks,
She brought me hot green tea,
And seaweed soup,
With Urchins,
Fresh cut,
Plucked by her small ocean hands.
One day, she took me to the sea,
Where she unfurled her tail,
And swam away.
Whenever I hear of Mer-man attacking,
I think of her small ocean hands.

The detail thumbnails are images of the actual print. You can see more of Jacob's work at Creebobby Comics.

Buy it at Nakatomi for only $30
