For The Children Artwork Inspired By and Dedicated to the Legend of the Wu-Tang Clan

No comments:

Title: For The Children: Art Inspired By and Dedicated to the legend of The Wu-Tang Clan
Curator: Chris Breeden
Location: Final Friday Gallery Walk - Frameshop OTR - 1317 Main St, Cincinnati, OH 45202
Date: Final Friday February 24th 2017
Time: 6 - Midnight
Website: http://www.wutangisforthechildren.com
Facebook Event Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1888739638079687/

Overveiw:
"For The Children" is a group art show inspired by and dedicated to the legend of The Wu-Tang Clan. The show is directed by Chris Breeden in his curatorial debut and features the work of 18 of Cincinnati's best known artists across multiple formats including mixed media, sculpture, print making, photography, woodworking, fiber, needlepoint, painting and drawing. For those of you that just go to art shows for the free beer, beverages will kindly be provided by our friends at West Sixth Brewing Company.

Details from Chris
Why I Put This Show Together:
First. I have a mild obsession with the Wu-Tang Clan. Everyone around me always seems to find it both hilarious and moderately acceptable at the same time. I don't have any Wu tattoos or anything but I probably have more clothes, memorabilia and records than most. The older I have got though, the more I have come to find that I am not alone. People love the Wu. If I am walking downtown wearing a Wu-Tang t-shirt, people will literally yell "Wu-Tang Forever!" or "I Love the Wu!" at me. People of all classes, races and socioeconomic backgrounds, men, women, guys in business suits, people in cars, young people, older people. It's crazy. It's like their was a secret Wu-Tang Society out there or something. So I am like, I have got to do something with this....

Second. I know a ton of amazing artists. My family owns Arnold's Bar and Grill and I have worked there for the last 13 years. Besides the fact that Arnold's has been a go to bar and consistent hang out for the art community since way before I was born. It is also smack dab in the middle of the Design District, putting me in constant contact with some of the best designers and photographers in the country. The same people that design and photograph everything for Proctor and Gamble, Kroger's and more. Through my years of working there I have formed close relationships with some of the best and most respected artists in the business. People like Pam Kravetz, Keith Neltner, James Billiter, Tommy Sheehan and more. I have this crazy huge pool of talented artists around me so I am like, I have got to do something with this....

Third. The last part came together when I started using the Frame shop to frame some of the artwork that I have collected. Every time I would go in there I would end up spending forever in there talking to Jake or whoever was working and I built a relationship with them. I realized they could help me create my vision and it doesn't get much better in Cincinnati than The Final Friday Art Crawl. So, everything came together and the light bulb went off in my head and now we have: For The Children

Keith Neltner's Piece titled "Counting Souls". It is based off of The GZA's album Liquid Swords and the movie Shogun Assassin. It is an edition of 15 for $45 http://www.neltnersmallbatch.com/store

Arnold's Bar and Grill Beer Print Series

No comments:

As a complete poster addict, Chris of Arnold's Bar & Grill in Cincinnati has been toiling with an idea of finding a way to release Gig posters but for beer instead of bands for quite some time. Chris finally got his chance with something big coming up next week and hopes to make this something that they release once a month with different breweries and different artists from all over the country......

February 13-22 is Cincinnati Beer Week and Arnold's Bar and Grill wanted to come up with something unique for it. They convinced six different breweries to commission six different artists to reimagine one of their beers and create a signed and numbered, limited edition of 50, 18x24, hand pulled screen print from the art that they created. They enlisted artists: Keith Neltner, Tom Post, Tommy Sheehan, James Billiter, Brian Methe and Rob Warnick to all create a design.

The prints will all be available the day of their individual event at Arnold's and a small number will be made available to those who cannot attend at http://www.arnoldsbeerposters.com There is also plenty more information about each event on the site along with a description of the featured beer.

Keith Neltner poster for Lance Rice "The Rain Man of Beer" and his inspiring journey

No comments:

This summer Lance Rice's dream, a film and book called "Lance's Brewery Tour," is coming true. With help from the greatest breweries in America Lance will set out on a nationwide road trip and author a book about American breweries, a dream 40 years in the making. His journey, which has already been covered by USA Today, MAXIM & Disney's Babble.com, will be chronicled in an inspiring documentary also titled "Lance's Brewery Tour" (visit www.lancesbrewerytour.com for more info).

Lance has an encyclopedic knowledge — a cliche, admittedly, but there’s no better way to describe it — of the history of beer in America, and for 40 years he’s wanted to write the definitive book on the subject. So, Lance’s nephew is launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund the filming of Lance’s dream, starting with a cross-country tour of America’s breweries. The project was called “Beer, Autism, Hope.”

Renowned Poster artist Keith Neltner and writer Jeff Chambers of Neltner Small Batch known for designing for bands like Alice in Chains, Modest Mouse and Cake created, signed and numbered 50 original hand pulled screen printed posted to support Lance’s Brewery Tour! Lance's film and book are a one-of-a-kind project, which will be embraced and remembered as one of the beer world's most inspiring and memorable projects. Keith Neltner's limited edition posters are a rare and beautiful piece of brewing history! Each poster sold goes to benefit Lance's Brewery Tour / Beer. Autism. Hope.

Keith Neltner Poster Releases, Paleface & Shiny and the Spoon plus Cobain's Loss

No comments:
Keith Neltner has released his two most recent posters,  Paleface & Shiny and the Spoon plus Cobain's Loss. If you have never ordered a print from Keith the paper he uses will blow you away, it is thick cotton rag paper that is really nice.

Keith on how he created them:

From the hills of the Bluegrass: Beyond the farm, Keith's work was influenced early on by bands like Nirvana so when given the chance to contribute to a three day only Dead Rockstars gallery in Seattle Cobain was a natural choice for the illustrator based in the Midwest. A smaller edition, that is hand embellished with inks and paint is now available in an edition of 20. Each unique. Neltner also created a print for Arnold's Bar & Grill in Cincinnati, the oldest tavern in the Queen City. The print was inspired by their family dog, Sadi and Keith's son's red tricycle. Matching the aesthetic of Arnold's and Paleface.

Keith Neltner Charlie Louvin: Still Rattlin' the Devil's Cage movie poster release

No comments:

The last twelve months Keith Neltner has spent much of his time co-directing and crafting a documentary tribute called Charlie Louvin: Still Rattlin' the Devil's Cage. His latest work commemorates the December 3rd release of the film, exactly one year after Charlie's last performance in Nashville. The BLDG is proud to release a very limited edition hand embellished version of the Charlie Louvin film poster. Each of the 25 prints is signed, stamped, numbered and unique in it's on way. The print will release Tuesday 12/13/11 at www.BLDGrefuge.com.

Size: 15"x22
Edition: 25
Price: $95
Specs: 5 color hand pulled screen print on 100% cotton archival paper with hand embellished finishing.

On December 3, 2011 Devil's Cage released their film. Exactly one year from Charlie's last paying gig at the FooBar in Nashville, TN. It was a unique night, a mixed crowd of kids, elders, hippies and rockers crammed into the small venue to watch something Charlie had done for more than 60 years: Grace the stage and hit those notes. That evening, Charlie was weak off stage, but his presence was felt, and his fans chanted "Charlie, Charlie..." Leaving chills on the arms of those who knew his story well. This would be Charlie’s last paid gig. The crew sat down with Charlie the next day and he shared many stories, some new, some old, but he talked with a clarity you wouldn't expect from a man battling cancer at 83. The film chronicles Charlie's battle growing up as a poor Alabama kid, to rising fame with his brother Ira, crashing, only to rise again in his 80's with an indie resurgence.

Rob Warnick and Keith Neltner to Release New Cake Poster

1 comment:

Rob Warnick and Keith Neltner have again come together to design a poster for a Cake concert. This version announces the June 10 concert in Mesa, Arizona. The idea behind this poster is mutual respect and harmony. Here, we see the cactus wren, which is the Arizona state bird, sitting on the ridge-nosed rattlesnake, the state reptile. The graphic background is a representation of the Arizona state flag. As usual, Rob did the illustrations and Keith handled layout and
type, printed by the BLDG. It's a team thing. By the way, if the bird and the snake can get along, can't the rest of us? Think about that, Arizona.

Details edition of 75, ONLY 20 to be sold at www.neltnercreative.com & www.warnickart.com 15" x 22" Four color on Conventry Rag 290 signed by both artists. On sale Monday, June 13 at 9AM EST.
