Ron English All-American Temper Tot Print Release Details

On the corner of Houston and Bowery in New York City is an outdoor exhibition space created by art patron and real estate developer Tony Goldman along with world-renowned art dealer Jeffrey Deitch, a wall dedicated to presenting works by the top contemporary artists in the world with an emphasis on those that delve into street art. Luminaries like Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee, Irak, How & Nosm, Crash, Martha Cooper, Revok and POSE, Swoon, and Maya Hayuk have all made their mark on the Houston Bowery Wall over the years, and now it is Ron English's turn.

To celebrate the mural that Ron created on the Houston Bowery Wall, which was unveiled on April 17th, POPaganda are releasing a small run edition airbrushed giclée print of the design, the All-American Temper Tot, for $100 each. Ron English returns to 1xRUN with another biting editorially based print today as one of the Pow Wow Hawaii 2014 Featured Artists

This piece is an homage to the creators of comic books. The background is based on the ads in the back pages of comic books. I always saw the comic book ads as points of departure for a child’s imagination. There was always a vagueness as to what the actual product was. Surely you weren’t going to receive a working submarine for $3.99, nor would Seamonkeys turn out to be magical creatures that would wave to you from the elaborate castles they would erect in your fishbowl, that is not without a heavy dose of imagination. The central character is a super hero whose power is imagination. His big brain is a comic thought bubble. The piece plays with the idea of the creator, not the muscle man in tights he has created, as the real superhero. There is no original per se, but it is based some original drawings I did for the piece. This piece was designed specifically to be a silkscreen print." - Ron English

Ron English x Pearl Jam "Falla Sheep" NYCC Figure Release Details

Ron English has collaborated with rock band Pearl Jam to produce "Falla Sheep". This line up of blind box vinyl features 7 color variants of the 3.5" sheep in wolves clothing figure. Each piece will come blindboxed and sealed in a foiled bag.

The Ron English x Pearl Jam "Falla Sheep" blind box series will make its debut at the Clutter Magazine Booth (504) at the NYCC on Friday, October 11th at 3pm. You can go back Sunday and have him sign them as well

Pearl Jam & Ron English Falla Sheep Figure

Never one to shy away from expressing their political or social views on what is happening in the world, Pearl Jam is once again ready to make a statement. Ron English has collaborated with  Pearl Jam to produce this awesome line up of blind box vinyl sheep in wolves clothing toys. Standing at 3.5 " tall, each piece will come sealed in a foil bag and blind boxed, meaning you will not know the color until you open the bag. Available in 7 color variations, they are due to release in September from the Pearl Jam fan club 10 Club and fine collectable toy stores through out the world.

Pearl Jam are known for producing collectable memorabilia for their fans, usually focusing on apparel. Though this isn't the first time they have dabbled in the toy world, this is the first time they have produced an Art Toy working alongside an artist to bring to life the bands vision. RON ENGLISH X SLASH Limited Edition Bust Sculpture Release Details

Now this is fucking Rock n Roll, WOW. The cover art for Slash’s first solo album was created by the one and only artist, Ron English, who has now re-created a fiberglass bust of that image. When SLASH, arguably the world’s greatest guitar player, embarked on a solo career by collaborating with his favorite singers, he asked artist Ron English to create with him the cover art for "SLASH and Friends." For this project, Ron interpreted SLASH’s iconic skull and top hat using his unique glowing color technique in a boudoir atmosphere complete with guitar/derriere crossbones.

In response to the popularity of the album artwork, Ron English and SLASH have worked together to create a limited edition fiberglass bust of the now iconic image. In collaboration with the prestigious Hong Kong sculpture house Garage Works, the approximately 15" tall ENGLISH SLASH bust is being released in a limited edition of 10 pieces, each signed and numbered by both Ron English and SLASH.

The subtle little detail of the nose ring is pretty fucking sweet.

Well the Pearl Jam Ten Club left the best for last. Ron English is a brilliant fine artist but this poster, well lets just say it was not exactly a fan favorite. It was based off his Wolf Boy painting. If you don't buy it know you will end up with it later when Ten Club does their mystery tube sale.

Shepard Fairey to guest star on The Simpsons TV Show on March 4th!!

On March 4, 2012, Shepard will guest star on the 23rd Season of the iconic television series, The Simpsons. Episode 15 – “Exit Though The Kwik-E-Mart”, In order to get back at his dad, Bart goes undercover as a graffiti street artist and plasters Homer’s unflattering image all over Springfield. But one night, Bart and Milhouse get caught in the act by established street artists Shepard Fairey, Ron English, Kenny Scharf and Robbie Conal (guest voicing as themselves), and to Bart’s surprise, they invite him to exhibit his satirical artwork in his very own gallery show. Meanwhile, a hip, new health food superstore opens in Springfield that threatens to put Apu and the Kwik-E-Mart out of business.”

“Part of being on ‘The Simpsons,’ is you’re being honored as a reference point in culture,” Fairey says. “But you also can’t be too sensitive about that part of culture being made fun of…There’s irony that comes with something outsider becoming insider. Ron English's Cathy Cowgirl Comes to Life! Video

Artist Ron English teamed up with General Idea to produce the ‘Cathy Cowgirl’ music video. Produced for Ron’s music collective The Electric Illuminati, one of his main characters is the star of the video.

“In November of 2011, artist, prankster and “popaganda” pioneer, Ron English, approached us with the idea of collaborating on a music video based on his character, Cathy Cowgirl. We humbly accepted the challenge.

We based the visuals on the song, “Cathy Cowgirl” by Ron’s music collective, The Electric Illuminati. Over the course of 2 crazy fun days, we filmed Ron’s miniature sets and countless characters in his workshop in Beacon NY. Characters to be animated, were digitally modeled in 3d, footage was treated and cleaned up and after a whirlwind post-production schedule of just 3 weeks, the picture was finished.”

Ron English Grin Print on sale details

This print was released at Ron's solo exhibition at Opera Gallery in New York City in 2009. This version of "Grin" was an edition of 200 released exclusively at the opening and has never been made available online. 1xRUN is proud to offer this extremely limited edition run of 5 artist’s proofs numbered 1/5, 2/5....

After visiting Detroit earlier this year Ron took time to stop by 323East and 1xRUN offices to work on a mural on the side of their gallery as well as launch a Grin balloon. Check out the video and more on the 1xBlog

After having a conversation with Ron about his re-release of Revelations Book II, a limited edition vinyl album they decided to cross promote the album on 1xRUN with a limited edition run of 13 hand embellished multiples which will be available in January of 2012. During that time Ron also mentioned having a few AP's of "Grin" available and asked them if they wanted to release them to their collectors.
