"A habitual traveler, Joe has circled the globe several times over painting and exhibiting in dozens of cities. To Joe, not much is more satisfying than bumming it abroad with a wrinkly, stamp filled passport in your front pocket. Professional Joseph makes a living doing the same shit he does for pleasure. Staying active with work that is a true translation of his personality.

"This work was made in a way to make it possible to casually draw with a brush. They were made to be a part of a series mimicking the background tones of a tropical sunset. Each piece was made on primed and colored canvas. I then freestyled a series of black outlined characters with a brush. By placing down the base color I was able to improvise theme and interaction freely with the brush." - Rime

"All 4 of these pieces were created earlier this year, two from my April exhibition Reaction Lines at Galerie Wallworks in Paris and the other two shortly after returning home. These pieces are usually worked on within a stack of drawings all getting done at the same time. They can take anywhere from two days to two weeks to complete depending on how much the ideas flow out. I try to tie in whatever is going on in my life or things I find amusing. An example would be in the work “Paused”, I tied in something that was being talked about on the Wendy Williams show. Chicks were on there saying you can tell a guy's dick size by the size and shape of their thumbs. Each work starts off with an abstract base of balanced lines and color. From there I freestyle in elements without pencil and then I keep working until each piece has some sort of theme." - Rime

Out With the Old Gallery Show at Library Street Collective Opening

Earlier this month Library Street Collective in Detroit hosted the opening of their biggest show to date, Out With The Old. Featuring over 55 pieces of original work from a long list of the today's top artists it was quite the show. Covering both floors of the gallery there was something for everyone. With many of the artists in attendance made the show that much better.

ARTIST STATEMENT: "I came across the Highland park arrest sheets in 2011, a year before the Detroit Beautification Project began. Revok had recently moved to Detroit and invited Roids and I out to make art for the 2011 Perseverance art show. While on that trip we came across the police station before it was torn down. Then the portfolio sets and sheets were finalized and everything was assembled and embellished over the past 2 months. I usually work on 10 to 15 drawings at a time, kept in a stack. I would flip through and work on one until I hit a wall, then flip to the next and so on. With these it would take anywhere from 2 hours to 2 weeks to complete one. " - RIME
