Abcnt Seppuku Print Release Details

No comments:

Stencil for the hand embellishment

Los Angeles graffiti artist Abcnt returns to 1xRUN Monday with a new print titled Seppuku.

"I got pulled over twice on a weekend recently and the idea came to me shortly after that.

I wanted to portray dead cops, but keeping with the tradition of non-violent resistance. So the problem solving was trying to figure out how I would communicate that dilemma.

I don't condone violence against police, but I'm okay with self inflicted violence by police for the sake of honor."- ABCNT

This print is 24 x 18 Inches Hand-Embellished 6-Color Serigraph on 130lbs Mohawk Fine Art Paper.

As for the name Abcnt? It’s an evolution of an alias dating back to his early days of spray paint and stencils, when he was known as simply absent—a tonic acronym with a tonic maxim embodying the artist: Always Be Successful Entertaining New Terrain.

On sale Monday at 1xRUN.com at Noon EST

1 comment:

Chuck Sperry has teamed up with Nick Cave and Australian Skateboard shop Fast Times to release a couple of rad looking decks and a t-shirt.

True legend of Australian music, Nick Cave has teamed up with Fast Times to produce an exciting and rad collection! After discussing lyrics and a theme, It was agreed Nature Boy best suited the Melbourne Skate Scene and vibe of Fast Times. The Lyrics are taken from ‘Nature Boy’ A track from’s Nick’s ‘Abattoir Blues’ Album which also features on the accompanying Fast Times Skate clip.

Once the mood was set Artist Chuck Sperry hailing from San Francisco worked with them to come up with a design, One of Chuck’s dames is seen tangled in her long golden locks wrapped in a psychedelic bed of flowers. The Boards feature a full wrap metallic graphic which feels and looks like an amazing piece of art.

Board comes in a small size and cruiser model. There is also a t-shirt that was just released as well.

James Billiter Wussy Cincinnati Poster

No comments:

James Billiter Studio created this playful gig poster for Cincinnati's Wussy and the Queen City's newest venue The Woodward Theater. The poster is 18" x 24" hand-pulled screenprint, 3 colors featuring metallic gold and silver inks and an edition of 100. Posters cost $20.

Wussy's newest album, Attica, is getting a lot of critical acclaim and the designer wanted to celebrate their homecoming with a poster that captures the sweetness and grittiness found in their music. Two pigeons cuddle to keep warm — forming a heart shape, their style also evocative of another Cincinnati artist Charley Harper. But James kind of thought of singer Chuck Cleaver's humor, and this romantic scene would be tarnished and even sullied by a cynical eye: a piece of litter is caught in the tree, there is dirt and grime in the air and the grit of city living. The Wussy name is woven into the tree and the Woodward name is in the actual facade below the birds, with the opening act featured on the banner. Other rooftops of the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood are featured in the background.

Posters are on sale in James Billiter's Etsy store:https://www.etsy.com/listing/210775944/2014-gig-posters

A video showing the printing process can be found on James Billiter Studio's Vimeo feed:

Matt Leunig String Cheese Incident New Years Eve Posters & Cat Print

No comments:

Hope everyone had a good New Years. Matt Leunig was very happy to get the call again from the String Cheese Incident to do a special print for their big New Years Eve blast in Broomfield, CO. He created a triptych last year for the band that turned out to be successful and they decided to go the same route. Last years theme was “Spirit Animals” and this years was more of a “Winter Wonderland”. The band has a lot of imagery such as jellyfish & hoola hooper but Matt thought that the peacock which they use a lot would be a good mix and contrast with the somewhat overly snow white environment. He wanted to incorporate more of a cosmic vibe much like the Oakland poster he did for them last year, as their live performance is known for having a crazy light show and visuals.

Each poster is 12′ x 24′, combining for a triptych total of 36′ x 24′ and is in a print run of 300. All numbered copies were sold by the band the nights of the show and Matt has his own personal copies that will be signed & AP (Artist Print) on sale now

There will be an extremely limited amount of “UNCUT” sheets of the triptych available in about a week,… JANUARY 12th, 2015 so check back if you are interested.

He also has a new print hot off the presses titled “Cats Down Under the DC Stars” based off of the design used for a collaborative T-shirt w/ DC Brau.
