Matt Ryan Tobin Black Swan & Anne Benjamin Wizard of Oz Posters Release From Mondo

No comments:

On Thursday Mondo will have new posters for The Wizard of Oz by Anne Benjamin and Black Swan by Matt Ryan Tobin! Anne is absolutely one of their favorite artists to work with and this poster is a great example of a perfect marriage between artist style and a film property. Anne’s take on the 1939 classic presents one of the darker moments of the film as Dorothy and company pass through the haunted forest on their way to the witch’s castle.

The Wizard of Oz by Anne Benjamin. 24"x36" screen print. Hand numbered edition of 250.

Mondo will also have new posters for Black Swan by Matt Ryan Tobin. They’ve been impressed with Matt’s work for a while now and it's great to see Matt do his first Mondo poster. Matt created an elegant image that singularly captures Nina’s strive for eminence and the horrors that come with it.
"BLACK SWAN really encompasses the true feeling of someone endlessly trying to achieve perfection and the negative consequences it can result in. It's such a great example of that. The film does an amazing job at capturing beauty and darkness and it was my goal to show that in this poster. I wanted to make something that looked elegant on the surface but upon looking deeper there lied something crooked and dark and disjointed, literally." - Matt Ryan Tobin

Leading off is Chicago based illustrator Anne Benjamin.

Here’s what Anne had to say about her print.
"My poster for RWBY focuses on the main team of the show, Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang and not least of all, Zwei, their unofficial canine mascot. I wanted to express the different personalities and varying strengths of the four girls against the central setting of the story, Beacon Academy. I also used angular graphic elements to hint at the mysterious powers of dust and crystals in RWBY’s world."
The first poster is $59.95 will be available at 4:00 central time on Friday, November 14th at http://roosterteeth.com/store. It’s 18x24, a limited edition of 250 prints and is a 7 color screen print on 100b Cougar White printed by Nakatomi Print Labs. Numbered.

If you are like me and wondered what RWBY was, Brian of Rooster Teeth was happy to help enlighten me. It's Rooster Teeth's foray into anime and it's the first American anime series to ever be imported and re-dubbed into Japan.
